Waynes Eggnog Sweet Potato Pie 1978

    This pie was absolutely delicious!
I made the filling and my mom made her pie crust recipe (she eye ball's the whole crust recipe....I don't know how she does it..... :)...)
Portuguese sweet potatoes are white, so I used those. The color of the filling was a bit pale because of it and that's ok. I used 1/2 a teaspoon of mixed spice instead of the nutmeg and cinnamon.

Eggnog is not sold in Portugal. So, I made this recipe http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/eggnog-recipe2/index.html Made half of it actually. It was my first time tasting eggnog. It kind of reminds me of homemade Bailey's. I think next time that's what I'll use.

    Will make it again definitely.

Hey, Ana's back!! Hi, Ana!! :)
This looks interesting. I've never had sweet potato pie but I think the addition of the egg nog is a pretty nifty idea! It sounds like you couldn't eat much though. Egg nog does kinda taste like a spicy Bailey's now that you mention it.!

    :) Hey Frankieanne!!
I froze one pie! Had too.... It was just too much. I did eat 2 slices though and it was very good. Very comforting for this time of the year :)

I've never had sweet potato pie!! Heard of it though.. I would have to sub the eggnog for milk as I HATE the stuff!! Not sure why I just do, and I try it again every year to see if my taste has changed and I always automatically want to spit it out!
