Thats a good looking bowl of chili, Keni. I have made chili a couple times. I always use the slow cooker also. I like the sound of this one. I dont know what those peppers are, though. Guess its time to lean some more things in the veggie isle.........Thanks for the heads up

Hey MP.... well, you won't find chipotles in the produce section(they are smoked jalapenos), those are in cans in the Mexican section :)... but, sometimes you can find anchos.

That said, though, this chili called for those two as 'powders' .... I got both of mine at myspicesage.com ....that's pretty much were I get all my non fresh herbs. Always somethin' free, sometimes two items and/or free shipping.

I have a go to chili recipe posted, which is done in the slow cooker, but we're always up to trying new things! :-)

That looks delicious! I'm on a chili kick and have all the ingredients so I'm making this soon ;)

Also Mr. P, if you have a World Market around you they have both of the peppers, but in flakes which I think would be fine in this. That's where I got mine :)

Im glad you 2 cleared that up. I would have been in the produce section...........AGAIN......lokking for something I had no idea what looked like. How would I know that by looking at the recipe? It says to saute the peppers. I just figured I had to cut them up to make the tablespoons. All this foreign language.......Now I know why I stuck to canned and boxed food so long :O Although my taste buds have been much happier since leaving all that behind : )

baby steps, MP...and, that's why we're here! To help when we can. :-)

Yes, the recipe SHOULD say ancho and chipotle powders ..... the sauteing of the peppers means the poblano and the bell.

No talk of cans and boxes, sweets...that's blasphemy! hehe

Luv, I think you'll like it ..... it needs the beer, though, and if anyone wants to leave it out, they'll need to deepen and acidize a bit with maybe some red wine vinegar.... a T or so, probably.

Why would anyone wanna leave out the beer ! ;) Did you use the dos equis or a different kind?

Poor Mr P...So lost :) It's okay, I think you have been learning A LOT in the past couple months. Like Keni said baby steps. and lets try and veer away from that boxed stuff, okay! It's no good!

NEVER leave out the beer. If you dont put it in the recipe, at least drink it while making the recipe. Same goes for wine : ) If you're not going to season the food, season the cook : ) And yes, ML2C. I do feel lost a lot here. But I look at it like another challenge : )
