-Seafood and anything from the sea! ( I know, I know, I do take Krill oil for my omega's! lol ;)
-Mushrooms of any kind, though ground up I can eat them in something!
-bleu cheese or any really stinky cheeses
-animal organ meat, and any offal meat like tongue and things they put in head cheese! ;)
-Ranch dressing, unless I make it at home---the bottled stuff makes me gag for some reason! Weird right?

Raisins! I forgot about raisins! I am not a big bottled dressing person either, Shona. I prefer to make my own. I know there are many more things I dislike but can't think of any at the moment.

Fish skin or any fish that is too fishy tasting or smelly. I don't like fancy dishes with fish that is covered with other flavours either. Just plain pan fried or steamed so you can taste the fish. fish should taste delicate. IMHO

It's funny what some of us like and dislike!
My DH hates raisins too. Though he will eat my butter tarts with golden raisins. He eats virtually anything but he also dislikes peanut butter and cottage cheese. I sometimes hide PB in Thai dishes and I tell him later he ate PB! He's fine with it after the fact but if I tell him before hand it has PB he won't try it!. I puree cottage cheese and put it in lasagna, he'll eat it because he thinks it's ricotta cheese, lol ;)
My Dad only dislikes cucumbers. He said his mom grew some as a child and they were forced to eat tons of it one summer. It must have made him sick and now associates it with that sick feeling and won't eat it. He picks it out of salads and such, some 70 yrs later, lol...I guess you can't grow out of all your dislikes!

Brown and Golden raisins taste different? Here I am 58 years old and I did not know that. LOLOLOL. I think I usually always buy brown raisins just because I think they look more like raisins. LOLOL. Gotta google this.

So......According to Sunmaid's website, almost all of their raisins—golden and brown alike—are made from green Thompson Seedless grapes, which is the dominant grape variety grown in California.

Golden and brown raisins are nearly identical in terms of most nutrients and daily value. A 1.5-ounce, single-serving x of either provides about 130 calories, 1.7 grams of fiber, 1.5 grams of protein and 25.5 grams of natural sugar.

    Cancer and Heart Disease Prevention
Kaempferol is a flavonoid that may reduce your risk of developing cancer and cardiovascular disease. According to authors of a 2012 "Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry" review paper, kaempferol acts as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial agent, and it may help prevent nerve disorders, diabetes and osteoporosis. Golden raisins have 1.69 milligrams of kaempferol per 100 milligrams of weight, providing 169 times more kaempferol than regular raisins, which contain .001 milligrams of kaempferol per 100 milligrams.

    Improved Brain Function
Brown raisins are richer in catechins, a powerful antioxidant phytonutrient that may also help you oxidize fat, according to the University of California's Center for Health and Nutrition Research. Catechins in raisins may also improve your cognitive function, according to researchers from a "Journal of Neuroscience" study published in 2012. They gave a grape-derived preparation to mice and concluded that the catechins in it improved the mice's learning and memory capabilities. They suggest that catechins may help people with Alzheimer's Disease. Each 100 milligrams of regular seedless raisins contains .42 milligrams of catechins, while golden raisins are not a significant source of that phytonutrient.

To make yellow raisins, the grapes are dipped in warm water and then coated with sulfur dioxide to make sure they stay golden throughout the drying process. They are then laid out on wooden trays to dry, where warm air is blown on them to speed up the drying process. For yellow raisins, the drying process is only about 24 hours.

Who knew? LOLOLOL. I think I'm going to stay with the brown ones.

Everyone who knows me knows I despise broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. I hate liver. I'm with Shona on the organ meat pretty much. I wouldn't eat fiddeheads either. I don't care for sweet potatoes although I'll eat sweet potato fries. I despise eggplant. I won't eat clams or oysters but I will eat mussels. I won't eat squid.

I'm with you on the brussels sprouts and fiddle heads Janet! I like sweet potato fries but not mashed or baked sweet potatoes too, lol ;)
Thanks for the info on raisins! I find the gold raisins (sultanas) taste much more mild than Thompson raisins. And the sultanas are more plump and juicy and not so dried and chewy. They seem to soak up the flavor of what ever they're cooked/soaked in and almost melt away completely. Where the Thompsons/brown raisins stay solid in what they're cooked in. I also find the brown raisins a little more sweet, but maybe that's because they're dried longer? I always thought the sultanas were made from a white grape variety....perhaps if it's labelled Golden and not Sultana they can get away with using a green grape instead? I have had horrible golden raisins before, I never thought it was from being a different grape or the drying process. Perhaps I will stick with brands that say sultana rather than golden!

Lol, good info on the raisins Janet!! It's a texture for me with the raisins, not flavor. I find the golden one's are softer than the brown. I still won't eat them by the handful, but if there are golden one's in something baked, I'll eat them :)

I forgot about peanut butter too! Don't like it, but will eat it sometime's when it's baked/cooked into something.

Good morning, I do not like wild meat, or tounge. Any kind of creamy salad dressings,
or weird sounding fish. or most cheeses. Of course being lactose intolerant doesn’t help in the dairy department. I do like goat cheese and most veggies.
We are in Vancouver visiting our daughter, I will stop in when I can as this sounds quite interesting.Shona, I believe this is your neck of the woods? If it’s any consolation it’s snowing like crazy.

Peaches!?! Peaches are the best!! I don't care for the white peaches or clingstone peaches. I only like the ones grown out West, in the Okanogan region, Never liked the ones grown in the Eastern part of Canada. I've never had a Georgia peach for comparison though ;)

I was just thinking of insects, yuuuuck, I can't watch when people on tv eat any kind of bug/insect!! In the restaurant I use to have open the jar of snails for escargot, can't do that either!
Has or would anyone try an insect, or scorpion etc..?

I don't think I could do insects Shona, YUCK!! When I was younger we used to go this restaurant and my Step Dad would order the escargot and I LOVED it. I'ts been decades though and I don't know if I'd like them anymore, but I'd give them a try!!

Yea, peaches just make me cringe for some reason. I think it's from a traumatic incident as a kid where my grandmother made me eat peach pie..I was eating it and staring at her china dolls on her bed with the open eyes and cracked faces. Nope. No peaches for this kid. And I have eaten insects, but not on purpose. I grabbed a slice of pizza from a box that ws sitting on a table and just bit right in...not realizing that it had been infested with ants. Yup...they were crawling out of my mouth.

Michelle, you probably liked the garlic butter they are drowned in! I think I would have tried them since I love garlic butter, but after opening them from the can it would turn most people off of trying it! Lol ;)

Oh Patrick, I remember you talking about the ants before, eeek! I had a similar experience with eating soda crackers about 12 yrs ago. I went to put a second cracker in my mouth and saw something wriggling from the holes in the cracker. Then I noticed the sleeve of crackers had stringy stuff in it, weevils had laid eggs inside and it was infested with little tiny worms. I spat everything out and rinsed my mouth out. I don't know if I ate any though! To this day I keep crackers, cereals, oats etc. in sealed containers!!

Gaaaaaa Shona....that's DISGUSTING. Oh my goodness!! And you Patrick...can you still eat pizza? Eewwwwwww...........! I have a good ant story myself. Not long after Jim and I were married a friend of his and his wife came over to help us celebrate Jim's birthday. They were kind enough to bring over a home made chocolate cake complete with birthday candles. We lit the candles, began to sing "Happy Birthday", Jim blew every last candle out and then as the candles were being removed.....little bitty black moving things....ANTS!!!!!!..... start POURING out of every single candle hole.....and there was a good 20+ candle holes!!!!! Jim's friends were horrified and felt terribly. I've never forgotten it. LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Liver for sure in any way shape or form . Gaahhh , just nasty . Raisins , not a favorite . Like almost any veggie , except Lima beans , Have tried several times , but .... Cannot do cottage cheese , unless cooked in a baked dish of some kind , or tapioca . No cream of wheat hot cereal either. I think it could be a texture feel in the mouth thing. My mom used to eat something called potted meat , that came in a little can . EWWW!

LOL @ potted meat. Had to google that. :) I agree with you on the Tapioca. My Mom used to try make me eat that when I was a kid. These days "Bubble Tea" is all the rage and I equate the Bubbles to large tapioca so don't like that either. The popcorn and milk is also something I've never heard of Lumpygravy.

I remember when I was little , my grandpa made something he called parched corn . He stood at the stove cooking it in a big cast iron skillet , and I was pulling on his leg , asking is it done yet , grandpa !! Have no clue how he made it , but the CornNuts you can buy in the snack aisle remind me of the taste. Loved it.
