Fish n' Chip Friday

Oh my Goodness we've had an awful lot of rain this week. We are now above the normal amount of precipitation at this point so it can stop any time! :) I have no clue how I'm going to be able to get my lawnmower through such tall grass. We haven't had a chance to mow it yet this year and it's actually going to seed!
Sens Game on this evening and it's an important one. Whichever team wins 4 out of the 7 games goes on to the next round of play offs and the Penguins have already beaten us 3 out of 4 so if they win tonight then that's it for Hockey for me for the season and that'd just be sad. :)
For Game night food I am going to make Corinne's
    Classic Patty Melt
with a salad on the side. A friend told me that Farm Boy has an awesome "Lemon Garlic" salad dressing that I'm going to see if I can pick up today.
I'm going to bring Mom for a jaunt a little later on so she doesn't get too bored. We're going to go for a Fish n' Chip lunch at Digby's
    http://www.digbysrestaurant.com/site/index.html
and then go do a bit of shopping. She wants to try see if she can find some nice summer shirts.
Happy Birthday to Rick Marie! :) Hope he has a great day!
Hoping you get to go to the Crepe Place with Liv this morning Tina! A movie day sounds lovely.
Laura might be at the Mudbug Festival in Shreveport today. Hope she gets better weather than I'm getting! :)
A big wave to Kimmer and Lori who haven't been on in a while. Hope all is well.
And to everyone else, have a most lovely day. TGIF!

Happy Birthday Rick!! Marie, best wishes on the cheesecake today. I'm positive you will make a mighty fine birthday dinner.

Janet, wishing the Sens comeback winning ways tonight. I think Classic Patty Melt will be great game time food, Yum on your lunch. I've had a craving for fish and chips myself. Lemon Garlic dressing....yummy. Must give that a try. Hope you have a drier day.

We have a semi-movie game plan.....Hunger Games, Bridesmaids are two of the must watch and we are debating our other choices. I'm letting her sleep in. I'm looking forward to my crepe fix, more likely lunch than breakfast at this rate! LOL

Making a tri-meat meatloaf with roasted pepper ricotta filling, green beans with tomatoes, chopped salad with celery, carrots, cherry tomatoes, Vidalia onions, cucumbers and pumpernickel croutons with homemade bluecheese dressing.

Making more giardiniera for the week. Going to have the tomato soup for a few days. I'm going to make tabbouleh for my lunches. My fruit salad with vinegar and cajun seasoning. I know weird.....I love it.

Hugs to all, make it a fun Friday!

I don't know Janet when I was up earlier this morning about 7:00 AM it looked like it was
sleeting or snowing!!! It is now pouring rain once again. Den has done our front lawn about three or four times this year and it looks like it will have to be done again. Enjoy your jaunt with your Mom and Fish n' Chips would be perfect for today. LOL It is 57F here right BRR it would be too cold looking for summer shirts for me right now! GO SENS GO!
A very Happy Birthday to Rick Marie. I hope your cheesecake works out for you as Tina says it is not as hard to make as you think. Enjoy your relaxing day today Tina and Yum on the Crepes.
I am going to make some Leek and Potato soup to warm me up and b/c Den will want his rib eye steak for dinner I think I will just have some soup and a grilled cheese for dinner and then watch the game.

Hoping everyone has a wonderful day!

    Good morning!
Janet, I will certainly pass on the HB wishes to Rick..he has already left for work, and I am going to my parents to mow lawns..then I'll run back up the hill to make cheesecake:)

We had a little excitement last night..at 8:45 pm, our house started to shake , the wood beam ceilings in our living room made cracking noises..there was a 5.7 magnitude earthquake 12 miles southeast of Chester, CA near Lake Almanor..about 100 miles from us..I have to admit, it scared me! We both knew it was an earthquake..just can't believe it shook the house so much..usually when there a quake nearby we hardly notice..everything is fine, they had some big boulders fall into the road near Chester, no major damage..thank goodness:)

I don't know if we will make Olive Garden tonight for dinner..he's working, Chico State University is having graduation, and Chico is busy, busy with an influx of out of towners..all the hotels are full, and I think quite a few are even staying up here..also Memorial Day Weekend..it's just a very busy weekend! We'll see ..whatever Rick wants to do!!!

Tina, I'll pass along your BD wishes as well! I love your nails! So pretty:)

I need to get going, I'll check back..have a wongerful TGIF!

I think I'd like to see Hunger Games myself Tina, and I love "Bridesmaids". Your meatloaf sounds incredible. Your food is always so darn interesting.
It is chilly out there alright Joce! I adore Leek and Potato soup and that with a grilled cheese sounds like a most scrumptious Friday night meal.
Good luck mowing the lawns Marie. :) Are you getting the hang of that ride on yet? :) CRAZY @ the earthquake. That'd freak me out for sure. Especially the beams making cracking noises! Sounds like Chico is pretty busy this weekend alright. Is there a restaurant up closer to you that you could sub?

Hi Tina & Joce! Thanks for the HB wishes for Rick!

Janet, There isn't a good restaurant up here at all..Rick picked Olive Garden...so we will do what ever he decides (just this once cause it's his BD LOL) He did mention a couple of his friends might be coming over tonight..so I don't have a clue about tonight..everything is just up in the air:) As usual:) I was FREAKED out..Rick was in another room yelling "earthquake" I didn't know what to do, so I ran for cover under the front door, I guess there's a header at every door & closet so supposed to be safer..I was just thinking, please trees don't fall on our house or us!!! Kindof funny now:D

OK, need to get going!!! Talk soon:)

Oh my goodness.......Chico sounds busy. Marie, I'd be standing in a doorway, hollering!
Believe me, haven't been in an earthquake but my Mom was (she was at the World Series in Oakland) and she was terrified. Sending you good vibes.

Janet, the secret to my odd dinners is simple. I read the menus of the favorite restaurants and borrow their food ideas and create the dish at home. We surely can't afford to eat out as often as I would like, so I create their items at home. The meatloaf is courtesy of a special from The Twisted Cork. I read about it and I'm going to fix it. Chopped salad is an old family favorite.

Getting hungry. Liv is running a fever. I don't know if I want to cuddle with her.

Fish n' Chips totally hit the spot. I couldn't eat all mine but Mom finished her plate clean! I was quite surprised! :) We had the "2 can dine for $14.95" Fish n' Chip dinner. Great price for us. Ran a few errands. Grabbed that Lemon Garlic salad dressing so I'm all excited to try it. Also had success clothes shopping. It was 40% off everything at "Northern Reflections" (Mom's and my favourite clothing store). Mom got two shirts and I got a bunch of t-shirts, a fancier shirt and cover thingy and a cute pair of white pants with butterflies on the bum. :) Dropped a birthday present off to my girlfriend and now we're home again. The sun is actually peeking out. Whoop!

WOW! Dahlia I sure do:) Holy that is probably the most lambs I have ever seen in my life!!! I bookmarked that to keep. Thank you:)

I love Northern Reflections as well Janet they make good quality clothes. Glad you enjoyed your lunch and found the Lemon Garlic salad dressing you were looking for.

Marie, We are in a quake area as well and fortunately so far we have never had a really big one. All of the big major buildings in downtown Ottawa are built so they are quake proof.

Marie, it certainly is a concern if a tree or trees fall on your house. Especially with the amount of trees around you!! How's that cheesecake coming along? :)
I love the concept of recreating a dish at home from something you see on a Restaurant menu Tina but I'm not so sure how good I'd be at it! I feel safer when I have a recipe. :) Poor Liv and a fever. Is this her last weekend at Seahags? Maybe she'll have to call in sick. :)
I was worried when I saw the lamb at the beginning of that Masterchef Link that they were going to make the contestants kill it to cook with. Maybe that's a different show? LOL!

Good thinking Janet on Liv calling in sick but she is a real trooper that one:) LOL I think lamb has to be hung to be drained like most animals but on Master Chef they do those sort of surprise things. On one episode I watched last year they have boxes covered and they will warn you whatever you are going to cook is a surprise and is still alive! One was live shrimp and a couple of girls freaked out! Of course adding to their wow factor for the show.

I did see you Dahlia!!! So exciting for all of us, we live thru you and your exciting food adventures:)
We are just doing pizza tonite, Rick wanted to stay here..so if anyone stops in, pizza & cheesecake:)

LOL @ the deer eating tomatoes Joce. Can't believe the guy took the film footage while the deer ate his tomatoes! Plus he didn't have any fencing up at all. Can't fault the deer for that! :)
You know we want to see a picture of your cheesecake Marie. There's been so much talk of it! :) Pizza and cheesecake sounds like a perfect birthday menu to me!

    Hey all
Work stunk! It was dead again. Made panini meatloaf sandwiches with the leftovers from last night. So cool Dahlia!
If Janet's Sens pull it off and the Boston bruins can win one more we will be playing each other for the cup. The Bruins play tomorrow right now they are 3-1.
Sorry to hear Liv is feverish.
feeling a little down today. I just miss the kids being little and I'm feeling unappreciated by the teenagers that live in this house. I saw a little girl at Walmart about two asking for bubbles and she looked just like Rachel at that age. I just went to my car and cried. I know I have alot to be grateful for they are healthy and have the normal teenage issues.
