Monday's Monday

Good Morning Everyone! I know ... real original on the title but I couldn't come up with anything else.

MichelleB, coke and peanuts are a big thing in the Southern states. They dump the salty peanuts right in the coke. I never heard of it until last year and still haven’t tried it. I just don’t get it but then again I’m not from the south.

Janet, when I was much younger we would travel into the cities (NY and Philadelphia) for sports games. Mostly baseball and a few basketball games for something to do. I never really enjoyed the hustle and bustle or the crowds and if watching sports prefer the comfort of home. I’m glad you had fun though.

Hoping all is well with Frank’s MRI Laurie. Are they sure they are reading the right MRI? The blood sugar should be an easy thing to correct with diet changes and exercise. Seems hidden sugar lurks everywhere these days and sadly because of it we consume more than we ideally should. Love stuffed artichokes! What do you stuff yours with?

If I hide stuff from DH Karen he knows and then goes searching for it which is more of a problem. He just needs to not touch stuff he’s not suppose to. Hoping some wet weather comes your way soon.

So sorry to hear Olivia was rear ended Tina. I’m sure she is sore but happy to hear that’s all. Hoping you are able to stop in more often.

DH has therapy today at 1:00. I’ll make a pot of turkey chili soon so it’s ready for lunch. Never got to the grocery store yesterday so the plan is to go late afternoon. I want to make beef stew and need other items and have my list ready. I’m trying a new recipe for the beef stew. Looks like it’ll be good and I’ll add some carrots and peas. I may do it stove top though.

You can name the post anything you want at all Linda. As long as it contains the day of the week so I keep straight (LOLOL) that's all that is required. Putting salty peanuts in a glass of coke. Eewwwwwww. Hope DH's therapy goes well this afternoon. Beef stew sounds good. I haven't made that in forever and Jim really likes it. I even have stewing beef downstairs. Mmmmm.....

As Tina mentioned last night, the dam close to where Marie is in California was having major issues and they were evacuating people. I managed to email Marie and received this back from her this morning:

We are ok, we live up above Oroville Dam..they did evacuate Oroville and some other cities though..The dam is supposed to be ok, the emergency spillway has a hole and is eroding...the primary spillway has a big problem with erosion as well so it's pretty bad!

Been watching the news..chaos and car wrecks in Oroville, people are still trying to head to higher ground...unbelievable! So sad....

Good to hear from you..please let Tina know we are ok:) xoxox

So sorry to hear Liv was in an accident Tina. As everyone said, thank heavens she's okay but the poor thing has been dealing with a lot lately. It just doesn't seem fair. Keep us tuned on how she's healing and if her car can be fixed.

I just can't imagine putting salty peanuts in coke, Linda! YUK! I hope all goes well with DH's therapy today and that you are able to get out and get the ingredients for stew.

Tina, I am glad to hear Liv is O.K. except for the bruising. Too bad her air bags went off! I had airbags disabled b/c I am so tiny and they can be so dangerous to small people. I had to go through a bunch of legal rigamarole to have them disconnected but my mechanic said it would be worth it for me if I was ever in an accident.

Thanks for the update from Marie, Janet. I didn't read about it until a few minutes ago and I was going to e-mail her to find out if she was O.K. Glad to hear is doing O.K.

We got quite a bit of snow yesterday and Den was out cleaning it up most of the morning. I have a sore throat and I am sucking on Dequadin a the moment so I hope it subsides soon. It sort of puts a damper on what I was going to do today oh well! It is Den's birthday tomorrow and also Valentine's Day. We aren't sure if we are going out for dinner tomorrow b/c Valintine's Day is so busy in the restaurants and he is off all week so we may do that another day when it isn't so busy. We will just play that by ear. We will be having hot beef sandwiches for dinner and not much else is planned for today.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Glad to hear Marie is okay, Janet. Thanks for update. I Googled the Orville dam situation this morning. Wow!

Linda, hope things improve for you. At least he is doing the therapy.

I don't think peanuts in my Coke appeals to me either, Joce. Ugh! Boo on the sore throat.

Good to hear from Tina. Hope Olivia feels better.

GS has swimming tonight. ?? If we eat out or do the obligatory spaghetti. Also tomorrow. I may make potato soup Tuesday to use up the extra milk. He doesn't like it, among a host of other food, but I will give him peanut butter and jelly if he doesn't eat. He can be happy I don't serve "Take it or leave it." He can at least try a bite. I have little sympathy for picky eaters .... ha ha! We can't take him Friday because of our company. Both of us have to be here.

Got to go. Laundry never does itself. Have a good day.

I went and pulled out my beef stew recipe and will make it later this week. Thanks for jogging my memory about it Linda. :)
    Am going to make
    Korean Chicken Lettuce Wraps
for dinner this evening. I ran out of the mixed Gochujang sauce I had bought at the Ottawa Farmer's Market. It was SO good. I bought Gochujang paste last week and found a recipe on how to turn it into a dipping sauce so will cross my fingers that it turns out even half as well.

Wow on air bags being dangerous to smaller people Joce. That's awful. And yes...HOLY SNOW BATMAN! I just came in from feeding the birds and we got A LOT! Crossing me fingers your sore throat doesn't turn in to anything worse. Feel better! That's so fun that Den's birthday falls on VD day. Yum on hot beef. Set two more plates please. :)

I'm working at my girlfriend's flower shop again this afternoon. Gotta run and get dressed and get out of here. Have a great day everyone.

SP Karen. My Mom used to make potato soup a lot when I was a kid. I think Corinne has a recipe for some double loaded Bacon potato soup or something that a lot of people have made, or maybe it was Lori. Is your company staying for the weekend?

The Gochujang sauce recipe turned out really well. I will tweak it next time but I'm thrilled it's so easy and tastes great and that it is WAY cheaper than buying it at the Farmer's Market.

    Bye again. :)

Morning all! Eww..I’ll have to pass on the peanuts IN soda Linda lol!! Never heard of that! I have made a beef stew recipe using balsamic before, and it was delicious, enjoy!!

Thanks for sharing Marie’s response Janet, glad she’s ok :) That is very sad though...and scary!

Hi Joce and Happy Early Birthday to Den!! Hope you throat starts feeling better..

Wow on Olivia’s accident Tina, glad she is ok though. Poor thing!

It’s a dreary day here, very overcast and dark. I have a TON of laundry to get done, I think every piece of clothing that everyone owns is in the dirty cloths lol. I need to vacuum and clean the wood floors as well. After Bri’s party and everyone left yesterday, it was pretty much a disaster. I spent most of the rest of the day just picking up stuff and doing dishes. Today is time for the more deep cleaning. FUN!! Lol. It was a lot of fun though, but I am glad it’s over. I can’t post pictures on FB but I’ll try and get some posted here :)

Don’t have a clue what’s for dinner as usual. Probably some kind of chicken soup? Not sure yet. Have a great day everyone!!

I've been craving Beef Stew since so many here were making it, just never got the ingredients but now will. The recipe I usually use is for an Italian style one that is fabulous but I just want a simpler one.

Tina, in that Olivia was hit by a driver and no fault of her own is she considering the counsel of an attorney to recoup the damages caused by the other driver?

Yikes on Marie being so close to the evacuation site. Happy to hear someone was able to reach her to know she is well.

Hope that sore throat doesn't turn into anything more Joce. Take extra care. Happy Bday to Den. Tomorrow is our 9th anniversary but I know we won't be doing anything
:( Restaurants are nuts and food is usually not as good. If you can go later in the week to celebrate Den's birthday all the better.

I haven't had potato soup in forever Karen. It's so good! but I'm starving an hour later.

I bet you have a ton of cleanup after Bri's party Michelle but I'm sure all worth it. The girls will probably talk about it for weeks.

OK Michelle you just reminded me to get the washer load into the drier....my laundry is in process.

Baking one pear bread recipe ....actually, it is a fruit cocktails bread recipe but since we never use fruit cocktail I opened some canned pears and changed it! Also banana bread, which I messed up by adding too much melted butter, so added a bit more flour and crossed fingers it would taste halfway acceptable.

I found a hamburger gravy recipe that sound interested, real comfort food. Maybe over mashed potatoes?

Fritz is on Wayne's lap, he stared and wriggled and finally climbed into the chair and pawed at him until he let the dog curl up. Silly pooch!

I googled Gochujang sauce recipe and found a slightly biased Blog that told me what was in it. Very interesting. I think it was Cimichira.com or similar spelling. Wayne would not eat much Asian cooking, esp. spicy, except for a mild Bulgogi, or Vietnamese egg rolls from ONE recipe. Glad you found a good recipe.

There goes the oven timer. See you later.

I like the title Linda, it reminds me of that song by the Mommas and the Poppas. Peanuts and coke are not my cup of tea but each to their own. I hope that your DH co-operates today.
It must be stew day as I have on on the stove too. That recipe looks fabulous Linda, saved.
Tina, sorry about the accident. People really need to pay attention when driving!!
Thanks for the update on Marie, Janet. Yum on the chicken dish. Have fun at the flower shop and don't let those roses bite you, lol.
You are so right about air bags and small people Joce. My friend was in a fender bender but the bags deployed and shattered her tibia. Happy Birthday to Den. I would probably wait but that's me, I hate crowds. I hope that it's just a sore throat, feel better soon.
Karen, our rule when the children were smaller was that they didn't have to eat it but they had to try the dish.
I too have a ton of laundry Michelle but no motivation. Chicken soup sounds perfect.
There is always a massive clean up after a party it seems.
I just watched a few minutes of the weather channel and we broke a 100 year record for the amount of snow in one day, 29cm. There are massive piles of snow everywhere and getting out of the driveway is tricky. Basically I back out and hope that nothing is coming because you can't see for the snow banks.
    Have a great day everyone.

I like your "try a bite" rule, Bren.

We are at GS swimming. He gave a valentine and tiny teddy bear to the girl he has a crush on. She was quite impressed. He is happy.

    See you later.

Oh Michelle, I do hope you can post some pics on here of your crafty things you made up for Bris party. Sorry there goes my stupid punctuation keys again. Argh. Beef stew with balsamic. I need to look into this. How did the girls end up liking the mall treasure hunt.

Thats fun you and your DH got married on Valentines day Linda. There was a man in the Flower shop today who had been married 36 years tomorrow. He said that they didnt plan to get married on Valentines Day but that it happened to be the only available date that they could book the church. LOL.àà

A slightly biased blog about gochujang sauce Karen. Thats amusing. :)

Hi Bren! I did have fun at the flower shop thanks. :) And I didnt get bit once as today my job was boxing up roses for pick up. I did a ton of them. Very fun. Some people ordered mixed colours and initially I was thinking I wouldnt like that but when you see them all mixed up and boxed theyre beautiful. My girlfriend who owns the shop was basically tired and fairly stressed but I had a blast and I think they did a great job. Their cooler looks great and has all manner of vase arrangements made up and some with teddy bears or boxes of chocolate. Its a lot of fun. Indeed there is A LOT of snow. More coming tomorrow afternoon and evening too.

Finished work at 6 and grabbed a couple of groceries on the way home. Jim has lit us a fire. Looking forward to tomorrow. Jim had a dozen roses waiting for me when I arrived which was a lovely surprise. We are trying to decide whether to do steak and lobster for dinner, or go out for a nice lunch and do Valentines day appys for dinner.

Hi Janet. We probably won't do anything special except taking GS swimming. It is so crowded on Val Day it takes the fun out. His truck and my car are in tomorrow, mine a routine oil change and his getting some stuff put on to help tow the RV more smoothly.

(Grinning). The Blog proceeded to blast all but certain specific Korean spice blends used in the sauce. I could just imagine her nose stuck in the air....LOL!
