Monday's Motivation....

  • chuckieb 7 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! I'm looking for motivation this morning. I must have left it somewhere. :) It's a lovely morning here but going to get hot again this afternoon. I was going to mow some more grass but it rained overnight so by the time it dries up it may be too hot. Jim's got an Ultrasound to get done this afternoon across town. I'll go along and we'll run some errands afterwards.

    Thinking of making Keni's
    Pork Tenderloin Sliders
for dinner this evening. I've got quite a few pork tenderloins down in the freezer I should really start using them up. I noticed you had made that recipe before Michelle. It sounds good and something a little different.
Glad to hear you had a good time at the farm.

Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday Karen. Ugh on your hot temperatures.

Jim called his brother in St. Catharines last night. They are the ones that were raising Guinea Hens and one of the females had just had a bunch of baby chicks recently. This past Tuesday raccoons got in their cage and wiped out all four adults and all the chicks with the exception of one that they found the next day out in the garden all alone. They're heart broken. :( How awful. I can't even imagine.

Feeling a little grumbly this morning and i'm not quite sure why. Need to think of something fun to do.

Wishing everyone a great day. If you find any motivation you can spare, please send it along. :)

Pic below is a new cocktail recipe we tried yesterday. A watermelon gin fizz. We didn't really care for it that much to be honest.

    Good Morning All!

I'm feeling you Janet on the motivation thing or lack of it. Sometimes you just need a break from life and an easy day and too with it being so hot it just drains you. Nothing wrong with kicking back and not doing a thing ... watch a movie and take it easy.
How horrid that raccoons killed the hens and chicks. I would be devastated and heartbroken too.
What didn't you like about the watermelon fizz ... the gin or the combination of ingredients? I'm not a big fan of gin but I do like it in a gin gimlet or with lots of lime and tonic, or with grapefruit juice ... that's about it. The picture sure is pretty though.

DH is getting real cranky with everything that has to be done for our move and at times is a real "bear" to be around. I don't know what he's getting so cranky about ... it was a choice he made willingly and he should be pleased/happy. I guess I just go thru life differently than him and look at the positive and not so much the negative and just suck up what has to be sucked up and done.

Have Kenpo this afternoon and after this belt probably won't venture any further with it if we are still here. It was something of value to do while here. Once in SC may take up Wing Chun because there are no instructors to keep up with Kenpo. Who knows, we will see once settled there.

I'm in the mood for another cup of ice coffee. Hope everyone has a great day!

I love this quote ... "To All The Girls Who Didn't Get This Message This Morning: Good Morning Beautiful!".

Good Morning Linda! I'm not a huge gin fan but I don't hate it. I didn't like the sweetness of the ginger ale. I'd try it again but just use watermelon juice and gin. I love grapefruit juice (especially red) and I bet that would be nice with gin as well.
The older I get the more amused I am at what couples bring to the table. And I really do believe that often 'opposites' do attract. I am definitely the optimist in our relationship and I too look at things a lot differently than Jim. But it's good that we bring different qualities and rely on our spouses to help us out with the qualities we're not stellar at ourselves. :) Moving is a lot of very hard work. We're not always at our best when we have to do something we don't want to either. :) Have fun at Kenpo. I really admire you showing it such dedication. It certainly is something of value. I did not know there were classes in Wing Chun. The first thing I thought of when you said that was the song "Everyone Wang Chung tonight". LOLOLO.

Yum on your ice coffee. Nice quote!

And I didn't word that properly....I'm not amused by what couples bring to the table, I'm amused by the relationship, amused by how one person brings a certain set of qualities to the marriage and the other's person's set is quite different. Another example in Jim's and my case is that he is most observant and detail oriented, which I find quite annoying most of the time. It'll come as no surprise to hear that I can be way less than observant and I am not at all detail oriented. So if there's a new noise in the house or something outside has changed, I may not pick up on it for a week or so. But you can be certain that Jim notices straight away and can rattle off when it changed and when it was like that the last time. It's very amusing really how differently we are in that respect. And as annoying as I find those characteristics to be at times, I also respect them because I certainly don't have them myself. LOL.

There was no rain in the forecast but it sure looks like we're going to get more. There's no way I can mow the lawn today. Not that that saddens me. LOL.

Wing Chun was supposedly developed by a woman. After our move and once settled I'll take a few classes and see if it's something I'd like ... I'm thinking I will and too it's good for the body to keep moving and the mind.

I understand what you are saying about the Ying and the Yang of relationships and too as alike as we are is as different as we are.

I too am waiting for the grass to dry so I can mow, or more likely get the teenager to mow it, ;) Finally the two weeks of rain clouds and storms seem to have passed! It's sunny and breezy, so hopefully it dries out quickly. We got the basement super clean, and the house smells fresher. We then moved our cleaning frenzy upstairs to the other stories and washed walls and floors and scrubbed Resolve powder into all the carpets. Hopefully we got rid of any lingering musty smells through the whole house. We have an oil heater and fans down there to heat and recirculate the air. We never saw any signs of damp, and the absorbent pouch hasn't picked up any moisture either. So the smell might have been from all the rain outside, as we've never had this much rain all at once before!

The Pork Tenderloin Sliders look good, would never have thought to put it on buns! Keni always had great ideas :) That's too about the chickens :( My BIL lost all 12 of his chickens to a little mink a couple years ago. I don't really have motivation either, sorry, none to send! Hopefully you've found some by now! :)

Hi Linda, I've mentioned our many, many moves before. I think each time gets harder. And most men don't like change I find! And they certainly don't talk about their emotions like us, so it comes out in crankiness. I said after this last move, I never want to move with this man again! I swear he gets grumpier and grumpier as he ages, lol ;) I too am the more positive person, though I find I fall into his negativity far more than he accepts my positivity so it's hard on me at times. I just try my best to let him rant and ignore him the best I can so it doesn't get me down too. I've never heard of Wing Chun, will have to look into it. My brother does Aikido and he's always trying to get me into martial arts, though I'd rather do Tai chi or something ;)

Oh my gosh Janet, Jim sounds like me!! I pick up on those little sounds and changes too. Pete thinks I have supersonic hearing; and my friends use to come over and move things around my house and watch me nonchalantly move them back and laugh at me! Lol, it's a blessing and a curse to live that way sometimes, though I am not nearly as bad since having kids!
I have chicken thighs to roast up with some baby potatoes, probably do a spice rub of some kind and serve with a salad. Again, my to do list needs some more check marks...it never ends. I need to put some mud on the walls and do more sanding so I can finally paint the walls! I've been putting it off for too long....I'm usually not a procrastinator, but taping, mudding and sanding is my least favorite job!

    Have a great day everyone!

    Good morning.

Wayne and I are as unalike as night and day. He is analytical. I am definitely intuitive. He is only grumpy when he is hot tired and hungry.....I hand him a sandwich, and let him growl on.

I saw a recipe for watermelon fizz that used vodka. Gin and I don't exist well together. Rum is worse. But whiskey and vodka are okay. Plus vodka doesn't overcome the melon. Some of these days I must try it. Providing I can find it again.

GS is with us so will go to the fire dept meeting with us instead of swimming.

It is hot! We have a heat advisory until Friday. I am ready for summer to end.

Well it's good Shona, that you didn't find moisture down in the basement. Indeed it could have just been caused by all the humidity. LOL @ never wanting to move with your husband again. LOL. I think people generally do get grumpier as they get older. And LOL @ you being like Jim. It is amusing alright. Yum, your dinner sounds delicious. Keni's marinade for the pork sliders smells great and I gave a little taste test to the sauce and it's yummy too. I'm quite excited. I hate anything to do with drywalling. You are the better woman. :) Sounds like you got a ton of stuff accomplished. I think you have WAY more motivation going on over there than I do. :)

Hi Shona ... Happy to hear you got rid of your musty smell in the basement, do you have a sump pump? Sometimes the water in it might be the culprit.

Hi Karen ... Stay cool and hydrated.

I hear every little "unusual" noise in the house, especially those at night and even outside. If it's uncommon I'll wake right up, I guess it's due to years of having pets and keeping one ear open for their needs.

On our way home I spotted a turtle along the curb on our main road which was getting busy. He couldn't get up over the curb so we turned around and got him. We were able to stop the car because nobody was behind us and when we did I jumped out and snatched him up and put him on the car floor. We took him to one of the many ponds and released him.
We stopped out for dinner and DH had his usual salmon, asparagus, and brown rice and I had pan fried Brussel sprouts and chicken pita tacos served with a side grain salad. It was good.

SP Karen! I'd probably prefer the Watermelon Fizz with vodka, but again, I found it too sweet so don't need the ginger ale. Hope the Fire Hall meeting goes well. Don't envy you the heat.

Nice on the turtle rescue Linda. That's excellent. Your dinners sounded nice.

Accompanied Jim to his ultrasound appointment and then we ran some errands. I want to buy a Hibachi to bring out to my Mom's so we can BBQ while we're there but Canadian Ire didn't have one. I'll have to keep looking.

Hi all! Sitting up at Caiden's first day of soccer camp. He really seems to like it so far! Came straight from the first day also of drama camp. Bri and Caiden are both doing it. I can't remember what the play is called but it's about nursery rhyme characters and animals. Not sure what parts the kids are playing because Caiden and I had to leave to come here right before auditions. Bri will probably know when I get home. The "director" said she will give Caiden a small part with a few lines.

Dinner is leftover. Hope everyone has a great day!
