Muggy Monday

  • LindaLMT 8 years ago
Good Morning. Starting the day off with muggy overcast skies that are threatening rain. Not sure when the rain will come or for how long it will rain (just a passing shower or an all day rain) but it's coming.

Got caught up on laundry and other household chores yesterday that are not fun and DH pitched in to help too, at least that's done for a few days. Our dog (LD) loves jumping in the basket after the clothes come out of the dryer. Also got to the grocery store and picked up some needed things.
Dinner was easy, reheated some shredded beef and gravy for hot open faced sandwiches and served with steamed broccoli. A friend turned me onto a Martha Stewart recipe and it's now been a favorite that I make, have portioned and frozen, for easy meals when needed/wanted.

Need to run some errands today and if I feel like it later (if not tomorrow) I want to make a sweet potato and black bean salad. Bought the ingredients yesterday that I needed. Sometimes I'm in the mood for something, buy everything, then loose the mood.

    Awwwwwww, cute puppy Linda!
It's supposed to be in the 70's today then 88 by Wednesday..soooo glad we don't have high humidity here! I hope we get a Spring this year..the last few years it has gone straight into Summer...
The sweet potato and black bean salad sounds good..do you have it posted? I can check here in a sec;)

I am taking Tippi to the vet today, she needs a rabies vac and checkup.

I'll have to figure out what's for dinner and let you know later:) I was thinking maybe a chicken stuffing casserole ?

    Happy Monday to all:)

I haven't written up the recipe yet Marie ... I will though and note the source. A different friend shared this one with me. It's really good. The dressing is what makes it. Marie do you titer as opposed to vaccinating? Chicken stuffing casserole sounds delicious ... please share the recipe. I love anything stuffing.

That would be great Linda, we love sweet potatoes and I usually just bake them wrapped in foil and serve with a little butter, it would be nice to do something different:)
I usually just make up the stuffing, using just a wee bit more chicken broth so it doesn't dry out and lay the chicken tenders on top of the stuffing, dot with butter and bake...I believe I bake uncovered..sigh..I don't remember! I agree, LOVE stuffing..I wanted to also try your recipe Eggs In Stuffing Nests
No, I have never used the titer method for vaccinating..I don't know much about it..I think I feel better with the rabies vac, especially with Tippi, she's our inside/outside cat..although, it sounds worth researching. How would you suggest I go about it? Thanks!

Good Morning Linda! It's chilly here again this morning but at least the wind isn't as strong. Oh my goodness what a sweet picture of your dog in the laundry basket. Jim and I used to have two cats and one of them LOVED sleeping in the clothes basket. Is your dog's name LD? (Sorry if you already told us, I don't have the best memory).

It's -7C/19F here Marie. Wow on 88 at your end by Wednesday! That does sound like summer weather alright! Good luck to Tippi at her appointment today. I'm sure she is not going to be thrilled about this. :) That chicken stuffing dish does sound yummy. I'm guessing you bake it uncovered so the stuffing tops crisp up a bit.

I have to pop into town for a few groceries and have errands to run. Think I'll do pan-fried haddock for dinner this evening with spinach and leftover pasta salad on the side.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

19F???? Oh my! Janet, wow, now that's cold..we can barely handle anything below 40F here:-D It never really gets below 30F , except every once in a while we'll hit the 20's..not often thank Gawd.
Yeah, I was thinking uncovered on the chicken and stuffing..thanks:)
Tippi will be meowing all the way to the Vets..it's just such a relaxing trip..sigh...
    Yum on your dinner..sounds delish:)

Just "google" the word titer, blood titers, titer and vaccines, etc, all kinds of stuff will pop up. I can give you specific sites if you need/want them, I just don't want to jump up on any soapbox. Didn't know if you knew about them because I never did until someone mentioned it to me. I started doing it about 5 years back for LD for health reasons when we discovered he has an intrahepatic liver shunt ... I changed up a lot of things and one of those were the vaccinations he gets. He has enough antibodies in his system that he doesn't need them.

The stuffing and chicken sounds ideal and on my list to make sometime soon.

Yes Janet, LD is the dog's name (short for Little Dog). Wow! 19 degrees. That's nice weather for turning on the oven and making a batch of chocolate chip cookies. :)

Morning!! Lol at LD loving the warm clothes right out of the dryer Linda :) Too cute, he/she blends right in with the towels! That beef ragu recipe looks really good, I pinned it.

Yeah, I’m with you Marie on needing a Spring...it was in the 50’s early this morning but now it’s just hot. It’s crazy how much the weather can fluctuate in only a couple of hours. Good luck at the vet :)

Yum on your fish dinner tonight Janet!

Ran a few errands this morning and just finished eating some leftovers for lunch, I was starving! Michael is working nights right now covering for a shift supervisor who is on vacation. He hasn’t worked nights in forever, so I know he is struggling, especially since the dog next door won’t stop barking. I’m scared to even go into the bedroom to see if he’s sleeping through it! The dog barked last night for a straight hour too right when the kids were trying to go to bed. I can’t stand it! Rant over :)

Caiden has practice tonight AND Bri has an away game (about 20 mins.) away. So I am going to try and be a magician and be at 2 places at one time lol. Actually the coach is going to swing by Caiden’s practice and pick up Briauna for me and then I will meet them up there when his practice is over. I really don’t miss Michael working nights one bit! Don’t know what to do for dinner or when we will even have a chance to eat! Caiden will probably eat ball park food and Bri and I will probably just scrounge something up when we get home. More leftovers maybe? Wishing everyone a great day!!

Need to get some stuff done around the house and yard..

Awwww on LD short for Little Dog. Very cute name Linda! :) You are right in that a cold day like today would be the perfect weather for making chocolate chip cookies and I would love that, and I'd love to eat all of them. But my DH actually doesn't like the majority of sweets including cookies, so I guess in a way he kind of saves me from myself as I don't bake or make desserts unless we have company coming. :)

Ugh on the barking dog next door Michelle. Do you know the neighbours well enough that you could mention it to them? Are they not around when the dog is barking or they just manage to block it out? Good luck with being at two places at once tonight. Busy lady!

Yay, glad to hear Tippi did so well at the Vet's Marie. :)

Grabbed a few groceries in town and then Jim and I went on a nature trail and took a 1 1/2 hr. walk through the woods. It was quite lovely out as the sun was shining and the trees sheltered us from the wind. It was a bit icy in spots though as there's still some hard packed snow back there.

Hey all! We had chicken mashed potatoes and peas for dinner. I worked at Sutton today and then both Rachel and I had dentist appointments.
Tomorrow we are going to Westfield State for accepted students day.
On Friday it was 70 degrees out and today we had a snow storm. Gotta love weather in Massachusetts!

Your dinner sounds very yummy Laurie! Ugh on the dentist appointments. I've got one this week myself. :( Fun, fun @ Westfield State. Enjoy the day! Refresh my memory what Rachel is going to study there? Ugh on the snow storm too. Ours is mostly all gone and I hope it disappears altogether very soon. We did hear the spring peeper frogs a few days ago and that's a sure sign of spring. :)

Linda and Janet, we should hit 72 or 73 tomorrow, sunny and too arid. A 600 acre wildfire is being fought in Bourbon, hope we don't have any here. LD is so cute on the matching towels. Our cats like the laundry basket also. Fritz has not discovered the joys of fresh laundry. He is a Jack Russell - Boston Terrier cross, we think. Very independent very persistent.

Glad Tippie survived the trip to the vet, Marie. Or should I say you did. A.C. Is a holy terror at the vet. Fritz just goes along with the program. He may be ready to neuter in a few weeks. With unspayed female dogs in the area, he will be as soon as possible.

Michelle, is this the same neighbor that you had problems with before ... Or was that you? It was a while ago and don't recall who was talking about it. Rant on. This a safe place to vent. LOL!

Laurie, enjoy your college day. You weather sounds like Missouri - they say if you don't like the weather here just wait five minutes.

Was busy all day but don't feel like I got much done. Wayne has errands tomorrow so will have to catch up then. He was complaining about pain in his foot, probably arthritis. It feels better now that he is home!

Watched Listed Sisters. I decided I like Property Brothers better. The guys seem to have so much fun.

    Have a nice day.
