Munchin' Junction Monday!

Good Morning Everyone! It's a most lovely morning here in the Ottawa Valley. Supposed to be super hot this week. Bring on the air conditioner! Jim wants to finish fixing the lower Hot Tub deck and my original plan had been to stain the decks, but if it is too hot or humid I may have to find myself an inside job.
Hope you had a good trip to Chico and won the job with your estimate Marie. Very cool on your parent's old Victorian Home. Jim's Grandmother used to live in one as well in Toronto a million years ago.
I was dying over your Crab Cakes Egg Benedict Laurie! Haven't had Eggs Benedict in quite a while. Jim has decided he doesn't care for Hollandaise. Good Luck to Rachel getting along with that person she doesn't care for at the Hockey Camp. :)
Did you get your dishwasher back on track Tina? That's good you're enjoying the meals from Schwann's.
Sounds like you're getting even more wickedly hot weather than we Karen!
Doesn't the new corn taste SO good after not having any since last fall Joce! Yes, I totally popped in to Foodsmith's on the way to our friend's cottage. You are so lucky to have it so close by and get to shop there all the time. I'm like a happy little kid in there. :) Bought some fun potato chips. A Sriracha Ketchup flavour that we totally ate up last night and then a Red Curry flavour that is next on the docket. Also bought my girlfriend some fancy shortbread cookies with toffee bits, dark chocolate and pecans as well as some Maple Dale 5 year old Cheddar as a hostess gift.
That's excellent you guys are having such a great time Michelle! Have a blast at Six Flags today. Is that Michael that Bri and Caiden are holding in your avatar pic? :)
Not a clue what to make for dinner today but it'll come. Gotta go turn on the coffee maker. Found an ant on my side table last night now another one in my pantry this morning. I think I may have a battle to attend to. :(
On our way home last night we went through a little town with a chip truck called "The Munchin' Junction". Thought it was a fun name. :)
    Have a great day everyone!

Yea! Janet's back:) We haven't heard from the couple about the door/opener bid we gave..we think they are checking around for prices..we aren't the least expensive and we're not the most expensive, but we're the best:)

We LOVE eggs Benedict! Rick makes that every once in a blue moon for me:)

We have been enjoying cooler temps lately..low 80's, but tomorrow it's back into the 100's again..we smelled smoke yesterday..then saw on the news there's a fire on the next hill over from us..hope they got the sucker out..I HATE worrying about wildfires, especially when everything is so bone dry:(

I am going to try to fine the perfect anniversary card for Mom & Dad today and get it in the mail..their 60th is this Friday. We will all be going out to dinner that evening..I also need to figure out what to get them...

Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo for dinner..don't know about a side dish..salad?

Well, better git this day on the road..have a lovely Monday everyone

Whew! Hot again. Heat advisory out. We went out early to get the last of the blackberries and I hit the shower as soon as we got in. Got a couple hands full but not enough to freeze so I will have to make something tomorrow after I buy some sugar -- ran out! Daughter and one or two GS coming up so they can use our internet. Century Link has been STUPID about figuring out how to turn it back on after they changed from oldest GS to middle one, same equipment just different name. Ugh!

I am ready for winter. Have had enough heat.

Marie, that is a good slogan to put on your trucks advertising your service, Marie. It is catchy and people tend to notice things like that. Chicken fettucini sounds good. We will probably have Easy Venison Spaghetti - I thawed 1 1/2 lb. coarse ground venison so we can make it. The nasty little one-ingredient-short fairy has been messing in my pantry again so I will have to make my own vodka spaghetti sauce, but that is not a problem Ha ha.

Janet, the Munchin' Junction sounds interesting! Like crab cakes but would probably have it minus the Hollandaise.

Tina, just reread and saw your post of yesterday. Can't get my Hubby to read the series. But I love it. Deathly Hallows movie stayed pretty close to the book, much better than the others...I was spitting tacks at the dumb stuff they did! The house elf mentality was difficult to identify with, but once I figured it out it was interesting. Never could warm up to goblins. Ha ha.

Ugh on the nearby fire Marie. I know how much you hate that danger! Happy 60th to your parents. Wow. That is a VERY long marriage. I'll be 81 if Jim and I are blessed enough to get to our 60th. What a hoot that would be. We were chatting about 'traditional' anniversary gifts with our friends this weekend as they just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. It was the 'coral' anniversary and I just looked at '60th' anniversary and it's 'diamond'. Yikes! :) Chicken Alfredo sounds wonderful for dinner. I'm still trying to think what to make and here it is past 1 p.m. and I haven't even taken anything out to thaw!
I weeded the vegetable garden right after breakfast and then mowed part of the front lawn. Like you Karen I hit the shower as soon as I came in. Darn deer flies were after me too and were taking chunks out of the backs of my arms. Venison spaghetti sounds good.

Made "spinach brownies" for lunch - not really brownies, name is misleading as they are savory, not sweet. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/spinach-brownies/detail.aspx. Even picky GS ate some, as long as it was not in the center and "squishy" texture. It is similar to quiche but different. I read the reviews on the recipe, decided to leave out the extra 1/4 cup butter - too oily if you add the whole 1/2 cup. Used some feta cheese, won't again, just stay with mozarella. Used cream - evaporated milk would be better bec. it needs some source of natural, not additional, sweetness. Anyhow, it was a new recipe to try.

We celebrated 48 years in June.

Wayne took GS out to shoot the .22 a few minutes ago. It is the only one we let him use and then strictly with adult supervision. He is careful but then he is 10, a city boy, and has not witnessed what even a .22 bullet can do. So even if he wanted to be on his own, that is not in the picture! At the moment he is complaining about the gnats so his Grandpa got him a hat and sprayed it and they are going to try the gun again. He thinks he wants to hunt deer -- LOL! Even the 223 his brother learned to hunt deer with is a bit too much for him to handle just yet. I have my doubts about him hunting deer, at least for a few years.

Well, I don't feel like going to the grocery store to pickup half & half for the alfredo..soooo we'll be having The Best Chicken Artichoke Casserole..gosh, I'm getting so tired of being 1 ingredient short:-D

Karen..it would be a good slogan for our business..except for maybe the part about not being the least expensive..some people just use the cheapest door guy they find..we lost a door & opener job over $40..even after going there personally (which a lot of companies don't do) to meet with them and measure the opening, answer all of their questions etc
The woman said we were really really nice but so & so was $40 cheaper...

Janet, yeah I saw the 60th was diamond...that isn't going to happen.hahaha I just know you and Jim will have a lovely 60th anniversary! And 81 these days is nothing! We will be celebrating our 18th this year (2nd marriage for both of us) and I do know for a fact we will be going somewhere pretty darned special on our 20th..even if I have to go by myself..LOL Yeah, that's it..I'll go by myself:-D
If I calculated this right I'll be 101 on our 60th...OMG..don't think that's gonna happen either:)

Awesome at 48 years of marriage Karen. Congrats! That's a definite achievement.
ROFL @ being short another ingredient Marie. I so feel for you because it happens to me just as often. :) Congrats on yours and Rick's upcoming 18th anniversary. ROFL @ being 101 on your 60th! That could totally happen! :)

No goblin fan here, Karen. I loved the escape from Gringott's. I've read the books over and over and the screen scripts with so many changes were irritating. The last movie was my Kryptonite, I cried at the losses.
I loved your tales of chicken chasing. Lol, I;ve always wanted chickens. Not with these dogs, I'd have chicks keeling over from cardiac arrest. Congrats on 48 years as well.

Janet, happy you had a good visit. Nice hostess gifts. Yuck on deer flies. They sound painful. Cute name for food truck. Those benedict pics have me drooling.

Marie, $40.00 dollars really? Well you are the BEST! in my book. 60 years is quite the accomplishment. Congrats to your parents. That short ingredient fairy is a pain. The fire sounds much too close to me. I wish I could send you our rain. It is a steady rain and we are soaked. The ground is saturated and we still have flood watch in effect.

Found my purse in the car. !!!!! I never leave my purse in the car, Olivia actually found it.
Still missing a house phone, Might have to x-ray Charlie's belly. Phones are his favorite. Now I'm missing the remote in living room.

Dinner was a mish mash of leftovers. Dogs loved the doggie ice cream. Still unable to bend my fingers. My wedding anniversary is next Monday and I'm a bit blue. I did have an orange butterfly greet me this am It's ten pm and I'm wide awake. Gonna be a long night.

Yuk on being awake, Tina. Glad you found your purse. I still haven't located my keys to the gray truck. There is an alzheimer drug commercial on TV where the woman puts her keys in the refrigerator and her husband is helping her look for them -- she obviously is early stage alzheimers. Well, the other week I found my car keys IN THE REFRIGERATOR. Had scooped up a couple sacks and just shoved them in until I was able to sort, etc. and the keys ended up somehow falling into one of the bags. Sigh!

I started reading Harry Potter books when my oldest GS became almost addicted to it, and some ultra conservative religious folks disliked it. Since I am a happily conservative Christian, I wanted to see for myself what drew him and if they had any reasonable objections. Decided it was classic good triumphs against evil, only in a magical setting. Loved the character development for Harry and Hermione, especially.

Thanks for the Happy Anniv wishes for Mom & Dad...pretty amazing:)

Oh Tina so glad you found your purse! LOL on now the remote is missing:) Oh man, I wish you could send some rain my way as well..Rick & I were just talking about how some parts of the US is dealing with floods and we are dry as heck out here...weird weather. Thanks for the anniv congrats to Mom & Dad:)

Karen, I have a time keeping track of my keys as well..I actually found them in the trash can once..I think a fridge would be a lot nicer to go thru as apposed to the trash! Gosh, I hate to think what I'm going to be like when I reach 101 :-D

Well, have a lovely evening everyone///sleep sweet:) You too Kimmer:)
