Saucy Sunday

    Good Morning Everybody!
I went to bed early last night, thus I'm up way before anyone else this morning! There's still a bit of snow on the ground. It's supposed to rain all day. Jim wants to go into Costco. They were selling these big rubber mats to go underneath your car in the garage so that when all the snow and slush in the winter falls off your car then it gets trapped on the mat as opposed to damaging the concrete floor. I need some bird seed and peppercorns there too. :) Also am going to stop by Chapters as there's a book I want to get.
Soup and spring rolls hit the spot last night so it's our Roast Chicken Dinner with mashed and gravy tonight.
Pic below of this super cool chocolate skull that I saw this past week in a Fab Chocolate shop. Isn't it awesome? :) They had marked all their Halloween stuff half off. This was reg. $21.99. I resisted. Lord knows I don't need any chocolate.
    Have a great day everybody!

Ewwwww. Just when you think Halloween is over!
Got up with a Dad call. Yankee his cat didn't come home last night. Spent the night with us because he got locked out. He was so upset I had to make him banana nut muffins to calm him down.
I have a big pot of chicken soup on the stove. A day late for Soup Saturday but thats okay.
Saturday we traveled to the Space Coast to visit a Post Card show. Strange thing to do but we have a collection of Civil War envelopes that we hoped to find out about. No luck there but got some suggestions on how to proceed. The album made its way to us from San Francisco where BBrian's great uncle received them in 1933 from a gentleman we know nothing about. Un le Charlie was in the paper business and I suspect that had something to do with it. Its a new project for me. Im going to photograph the album and see if there are any interested buyers. Lots of folks collect Civil War memorabilia. It would be great to have them somewhere they will be treasured. Such a history lesson on these small canvases.
Off to get some laundry going. Happy Sunday!

We didn't get as much snow as you Janet! None of ours stuck to the ground. Then it rained for most of the night here. Weird I know cuz we are only an hour away from each other but the lakes and things have a big influence on us here. Have fun doing your errands and things today. Cool looking chocolate scull but I think I would have avoided it too. LOL b/c my chocolate hound Hubby would eat it all:) A perfect day to have your roasted chicken dinner tonight.

We are doing laundry today and I am not absolutely sure what is for dinner maybe a pot roast with mashed tators or roasted tators something like that. We shall see what Den says about that:)

Hoping everyone has a good Sunday!

Laura, Sorry I missed you there SP. Cute that you had to make a banana nut loaf to calm Dad down:) Homemade soup always makes the house smell so lovely. Cool on all the Civil War memorabilia. You might be able to find something about them on the Antique Road Show site as well? A very interesting history lesson for sure.

Laura, I just Googled A collection of Civil War envelopes and if you try and do that a whole bunch of pics of them come up. You might be able to find something similar to the ones you have by doing that? Hoping that might be a little bit of help as well:)

Laura, Another thing you can do is visit a war Museum. The Curator might be able to tell you about them and possibly lead you in the right direction as well. Plus if there stamps on them too you can check out with some Philatelists or Numismatics possibly on line as well?

Marie, I think Dad's kitty will be alright as Laura said it stayed with them last night:) That Crockpot Swiss Chicken Casserole looks yummy I bet it will be good. The snow will come and go here hopefully for a little bit longer. If it stays here too early it makes for a really long winter.

Good luck at work Tina and I hope you feel better soon:)

Hi Connie, Did you have a nice Birthday on Friday?

Glad that Yankee had a warm, friendly place to stay last night. Nice of you to make Muffins for Dad to make him feel better Laura! I'd never heard of the Space Coast so had to google it. How fun is that? I would love to see a Space launch one day. Have you ever done that? Those civil war envelopes sound super cool. Do tell us if you learn more about them.
We did get a goodly amount of snow on the ground by last night Joce. That pic in my Avatar was just when it first started and the leaves got totally snowed under by later. Pot Roast sounds excellent.
That Swiss Chicken Casserole sounds really yummy Marie. Let us know how it turns out. No, that's not the mat Jim got. He bought this honkin' huge one. 20 ft. long and 7 1/2 ft. wide.
Wow on 80F Tina! Good luck with this shift. You made it!
    Hi Connie!
We had a good jaunt into town. Came across this beautiful aromatic grey sea salt flavoured with white truffle oil at Costco for $6.97 which I thought was a pretty good price. It smells amazing!
Went for Dim Sum for lunch and grabbed a few groceries on the way home. It's pouring rain now. Time to light a fire and read a book I think. :)
I'm going to an author's visit at my local library next week. The author's name is Denise Chong and her latest book is "Lives of the Family" which she'll be talking about. So I got myself a copy at Chapter's today and will get her to autograph it for me. Fun fun! :)

Oh! Joce, I didn't get that part where the kitty spent the night with Laura! Duh...what a dumbo I am! We haven't had any type of precipitation at all here in quite some time..it's supposed to rain Tuesday..we'll see if that does happen..we need the rain for sure here, and it's already into November!

Hi Connie! Sure hope you had the best BD!

Janet, yeah, I thought that mat looked too small..does the mat you bought actually keep the melting snow from going all over your garage floor? That would be so awesome...

    Tina, hope you feel better..

Jim said it was so weird to be in California in the morning and it was so lovely and warm and then wham, instant winter when he gets back to Ottawa. :) That's the intent of this mat Marie. It's got little channels in it which will supposedly make the slush and what not slide down. We'll see how it goes. Jim's put one in and now he's wondering if he needs a second one to go right beside it. :)

I'm with Tina.....it's 80+ degrees here and y'all have snow! Holey Moley. Hey, don't get me wrong......I love me some Florida weather! Went to Clearwater beach last night and hung out. Was Delightful! Night was cool, entertainment was awesome, food was.........well.........ok........lol! Told hubs we need to hang more often. We live so close to the beach it's a shame we don't spend more time there. Just a stones throw from our house!

Had shishes, as I call them tonight. shiskabob with shrimp, sausage, green pepper and onion with rice and a caprise salad. DELIGHTFUL!

Hope all are doing well and happy.

    Sleep Sweet All...........as always..................

As much as I do truly love the snow Kimmer, the sound of heading to the nearby beach sounds most delightful! The shishes sound very yummy as does the caprese salad. Good to see you pop in. :)
Dinner was yummy. Fire is going. Night all.
