Silent Saturday

It is a quiet morning in the Ozarks. The peaceful day is limited because we have a zillion errands to run this morning after breakfast. Sigh.

Grabbed lunch at Edgar Springs yesterday and of course I had their catfish special....three pieces of fried catfish, fries, cornbread, ham and red beans (out of this world), and jalapeƱo hush puppies. Wayne ordered the usual double cheese burger and fries. Bought the last homemade cinnamon roll to bring home to share for breakfast. They are huge!

Have to go order a brush hog, stop at the post office to pick up a registered letter, stop at a car dealer to check their promotion (we never win but as long as we are out and about will stop....Wayne's idea), and something else that slips my mind. Actually, my mind has degenerated to the FST that Janet so lovingly describes. Foot is better so I can handle the walking.

Supposed to hit ninety again and no rain. A good day to stay inside this afternoon and avoid the heat. Even the guys only worked yesterday morning due to excessive heat. Whenever it cools down the lawn needs mowing. Aargh!

    Have a wonderful day!

Morning! Good luck with your errands today. The catfish dinner for lunch yesterday sounds delicious, hush puppies are my weakness :) Ugh on the heat!!

Our high today is at 89 degrees, not too bad, but still hot!

We have quite a few things to do today, like I said yesterday, Caiden has his Ninja class then we will grab some lunch. I need to drop off my wedding ring off at the jewelers to get fixed, one of the bracket prongs has moved up some and it needs to be straightened, and I need to get it cleaned. The boys also need to get their hair cut. May do a little shopping as Caiden still needs one more pair of tennis shoes for school and Bri could use a few more shirts. Then we will go to the party this evening.

Since the party is from 5-8 I guess dinner will be there, but I'm not sure if there is food for the parents as well, so Michael and I may be eating a late dinner when we get home if not. Hope everyone has a great Saturday!!

Good Morning Everyone. I love quiet mornings and evenings ... the calm before the storm I liken it to when everything is still and peaceful before the days activities take hold.

Hope you get all your errands done today Karen and I hope you win!! Wouldn't that be nice, someone has to and you never know. Yum on your cinnamon roll. A good day to be in cool air for sure.

Is your mom all settled in Janet? The fair sounded awesome and I enjoyed seeing some of the pics on FB. I too would rather go out for lunch than dinner for just about the same reasons.

I too doubt we will see "Fall" here Michelle for some time temp wise. The trees here don't change colors or drop leaves :( How your pizza's turn out?

Did you go out for dinner last night Kimmer? Hoping you don't catch what the boys had.

Did you get all your house chores done Joce? I have to dust and vacuum myself ... maybe I'll DH vacuum and I'll dust. Sounds fair to me.

What kind of birthday cake was your cake Marie? and did Rick remember the ice cream?

Not much planned for today. Will take care of some chores around the house today. Seems they never end. Stopped at the Italian market yesterday and bought chix parm and lasagna ... we had the chix parm last night for dinner and will do the lasagna Sunday. Tonight will either be Salmon or hot turkey. Need to run out to the store for a few items and will do that sometime today, most important thing to get is fresh greens for the bunny.
    That's all for now. Enjoy!

Hi Linda! So I decided to try pizza on the grill last night. I'm so glad I made a double batch of dough, because I think doing it over charcoal on a small grill was a mistake. I had the air vents closed all the way to bring the heat down and the charcoals spread out as evenly as possible and the middle still burnt to a crisp after being on the grill for only a few minutes. The out edges luckily were salvageable, so I got them off and made personal pizzas with those and rolled out my second dough (that I was going to freeze for later) and baked that up. Ended out really good, but I wasted a bunch of charcoal lol. Oh well, I guess it is best done on a gas grill or a larger charcoal grill?

Yum on Chicken Parm, we haven't had that in forever! Your dinner plans for tonight and tomorrow sound delicious too. It's funny, my FIL has a bunny too and feeds her a lot of vegetable tops, but he doesn't like the veggies, so he is always bringing us the carrots and radishes that he cuts the tops off of for the bunny :P

    Hi all.

Hope you have a nice time at the party, Michelle. I would think parents would be offered something also, but you never know. A granola bar beforehand would stave off the hunger....ha ha! Boo on the charred crust. The only thing we "win" at their promotions are the $1.00 which they then ask if you want to buy a raffle ticket. Ha ha.

Linda, my hubby does better at vacuuming than I do.

SP Michelle. Radish tops and carrot tops are favorite bunny greens. Lucky for me that I like radishes and carrots so it's a win-win for both me and Bella. LOL!!
Oh no on the grilled pizza. I've always wanted to try it but I have a feeling I'll wind up with burnt stuck on dough on the grill so I stick to the oven. Good thing you had an extra dough.

You sure will be busy with all those errands, Karen. I hope you win. Wouldn't that be great! I am glad your foot is feeling better today. Yum, I love cinnamon, rolls. Try and stay cool if you can.

I am hoping they feed the parents as well, Michelle. It would be a bit rude if they didn't. IMHO. I have never done a pizza over charcoal only in a gas grill.

I wish we had an Italian Market like that, Linda. I would be nice to pick up authentic meals and not to worry about making them. Sadly this town is too small for things like that. I did get a few things done yesterday, Linda. I will let Denderella finish up the rest of the house today:)

I hope your Mom is all settled in her new place. Did you notify the post office of her change of address and arrange for a telephone and stuff like that as well?

How was your BD lunch, Marie? Also, how was the cake?

I hope you didn't catch what the boys have, Kimmer.

We had MacDonald's for brunch and Den did the grocery shopping early this morning as well. It is going to be another hot and humid day again so we are going to hunker in today. Den will have his normal cheeseburgers and oven fries and once again I don't know what I am having yet b/c I am too full to think about another meal right now.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Good Morning Everyone! Jim and I are just about to head out to a local Farmer's Market, different than the one we usually go to, that we haven't ever actually gone to before. Then to a couple of local craft breweries to get some goodies for Jim seeings he hasn't been able to visit them the entire summer! :) Am going to make
    Sesame Pork Satay
for dinner this evening and hoping to grab some Corn on the cob while we're out.

Your lunch out yesterday sounded like a lot of fun Karen and the cinnamon roll would be such a treat for brekkie! I haven't had one in forever and I should really remedy that! :) My mind really must be out since I can't think of what FST means? LOLOLOL. Glad your foot is feeling a little better.

You have a busy and fun day ahead of you Michelle. I'd think there'd be something for the parents at the party with the hours the way they are. Did you have your dough on a pizza stone on the grill? What a shame you ran into troubles.

Heard from my cousin last night Linda re: my Mom and she told me that she is all settled in to her new apartment. My cousin popped in and drew her blinds and turned up her heat for her. She said Mom's phone wasn't working there yet so I'll try her later on in the day. Your Chicken Parm and lasagna sounded nummy as do both Hot chicken and salmon. Good luck with your house cleaning.

Hi Joce! Mom gets her mail delivered to a Post office box so that doesn't have to be changed. She called the Phone Company herself and I've already cancelled her TV. Yum on McD's for brunch. Jim and I may have that tomorrow as we got a call from Hydro saying our power will be out from 7-11 tomorrow morning, so it's a good excuse to head in for breakfast yes? :)

Did a bit of Ancestry this morning. Am working on Jim's Dad's side of the family. Jim's Grandfather on his Dad's side was adopted and we have hardly any information about him whatsoever so it makes it really tricky.

Woke up to gun shots this morning early, early! I even commented to Jim at the time that I didn't know how the hunters could even see what they were shooting at much less where it fell if they hit it. We're not far away from the river so I think they are duck hunting.

Lol I don't know what FST means either, Janet:) Good to know your Mom is all settled in. I forgot to ask. Did your Mom ever buy a new comforter for her bed? I think she might miss TV at some point in time. Did she leave the phone at home hooked up as well? Lol I know so many questions. Inquiring minds want to know. Bummer on the power being out in the morning, but at least they let you know. I wouldn't want to wake up to gunshots. I remember my Dad going duck hunting once and YUCK they smell like dead fish and apparently taste like that too! They ended out throwing them out. Not like the ones raised for meat like the ones in Brome Lake QC. Enjoy your outing and the Farmer's Market.

Yes Joce, Mom did buy herself a new comforter. A very pretty floral one too! :) I think she'll miss TV as well but I get tired of arguing with her. I just tried to call her now but either she's out or the phone's not connected. It just keeps ringing. My Dad did a lot of Duck hunting and they were delicious.

Jim and I got some corn at the Farmer's Market and then we bought some Pork skewers and a mango salad from a Thai food booth there. So we're having pork skewers for both lunch and dinner. LOL. It was a VERY small Market. I won't need to return there.

Jim suffers from ragweed allergies and he's been taking "Aerius" ever since we've come home as he wasn't bothered by it in Rainy River. But lately he's been saying he's feeling sluggish and tired and today even worse so he thinks it could be a reaction to the Aerius. He's going to quit taking them and see if he feels any better or if he starts feeling worse. Ragweed allergies are supposed to be low for the next three days and I think it is coming to the end of its season. So....he didn't want to go to the Breweries which shows you he must be feeling bad. LOL.

Den has been feeling the same as Jim, Janet. He takes Aerus as well and he is not sure if it might be a cold or not. I go into sneezing fits and my nose runs but it comes and goes. I think it is worse when it gets hot and humid like this. Did you turn your AC on that might help? YUM! Your lunch and dinner sound absolutely delicious! Glad your Mom got a new comforter. I don't think it will be long before your Mom will want TV again. Especially in the winter months. I would go nuts without it myself.

Ok all you who have forgotten....FST = Freaking Steel Trap. Ho ho ho.

The tired yucky feeling must go with fall allergies since both of us felt that way not so long ago. Sort of dragged out and not wanting to go anywhere.

Dropped by a grape stand and got grapes, honey, jam, and a grape pie. Then lunch at Crow Creek and stopped at daughter's for a short visit.

Got to go....can't type iPhone when car moving.

It's actually not that hot inside Joce so no, we haven't turned on the air conditioner. I agree with you that it would help Jim but I know if I suggest it he will nix it because he'd prefer to not turn on the air conditioner over feeling badly with his ragweed. LOL.

LOL @ Freaking steel trap Karen. LOL. Those are fun things you picked up at the Grape stand.

I have never heard of grape pie before, Karen. I would like to try it sometime. I remember my Aunt from St. Louis would stop at a grape stand and she would always bring us the most amazing grape juice I have ever had in my life.

Apparently, it feels like 90 F, Janet. Lol, you guys must be used to the heat. We just set our AC on a programmable thermostat and it comes on whenever it reaches the temps we programme it for.

Made pan-seared Salmon tonight for dinner for the first time and it came out great. Opted for the salmon since we need more Omega -3s in our diet and DH won't take the supplement. Made a salad and baked sweet potato to go with it and had biscotti that we bought at the Italian Market for that little something after.

Joce, this Italian market pales in comparison to the ones we had in NJ. I sure do miss the ethnic regions. This one isn't bad but not nearly as good. Have you figured out what you are having for dinner yet?

That's great your mom is all settled in Janet. That seemed easy but then again you did all the hard work prior. Wow on waking up to shot gun shots. Not something I would welcome hearing. I remember years ago when growing up we had a neighbor that took to using a shot gun to shoot groundhogs in his back yard and one time the buckshot sprayed into our yard while we were outside. Thank God we didn't get hurt but very alarming and I was old enough then to go down and give him HELL for it.

Hope everyone feels better from their seasonal allergies soon. They do suck the life out of you.

Our house is very well insulated Joce and since it gets so nice and cool in the evening it doesn't have a chance to heat up too, too much during the day. Plus I'm keeping the curtains, doors and blinds closed. We really love having our windows open during the summer. When we were at Mom's only the kitchen window opens so we're been basking in the fresh air ever since getting back to Ottawa. Yum on awesome grape juice. I used to love Welch's grape juice when I was younger. Should buy some next time I'm at the grocery store. Haven't had it in forever.

Your dinner, especially the salmon, sounded wonderful Linda.

Hello to all. Made lasagna here tonight. Daughter and grandson came over. Turned out quite well. Kind of stormy here which kind a fits my mood, lol. Face timed with Michael this morning. First time since he's been overseas. He is in Berlin now. Which is funny as he shows video from his phone. Hubs knows all the places and told him where to go and where NOT to go. But, even though it was delightful to see his face, it reminded me of how far away he is from me right now. They will be in Berlin for a few days and then off to one of the German Army Bases. He said the name, of which my husband knew of course, but I can't remember it. Feeling kinda down right now.............missing my Mikey..........and worry every night about him.............

    Sleep Sweet All...........as always.....................
