Sleepy Saturday.....

Good Morning Everyone! I've just had one cup of coffee and certainly need one more. :) Hope everyone is looking forward to a nice day ahead. What's everyone up to?
The temperature has dropped a bit since yesterday. Our thermometer is registering -4C/24F at the moment.
Jim's thinking he may take the chain saw out and take down a few dead spruce trees that we lost to the draught a couple of years ago. I have a couple of Christmas cards I could do up and some packing to do. Not sure what to make for dinner this evening but I'll see what's in the freezer.
There were no crowds at the Movie Theatre yesterday Bren. I bet there weren't more than 10 other people in the entire place besides Jim and I. The guy sitting right in front of us actually fell asleep right at the beginning of the movie. Don't know how much he missed. LOL! The early Christmas party that you went to yesterday sounded like fun! So glad to hear your Daughter has pretty much recovered. Had she ever carried an epipen previously? How's Annie doing today? I knew cats got UTI's but I didn't know dogs did. Stands to reason I guess.
Happy Birthday to Colter today Shona! Hope he has a great day! Take a pic of his cake if you get a chance!
Turkey soup day for you today Marie?
Michelle's coming home tomorrow I think right? Can't wait to hear how her celebration went.
Joce....what are you and Den up to today?
Laurie? I saw on FB that Becca made High Honours! Way to go!
A couple pics below that tweaked my funny bone. A joke re: our topic of conversation yesterday about Black Friday shopping and then I saw an article talking about increased security at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. The picture shows the police up on top of a building and the Pillsbury Dough Boy balloon is beneath them going by on the street. To me it looks like the Dough Boy just jumped from the building and is doing a free fall. LOLOLOL. See....I told you I needed more coffee! :)
    Wishing everyone a great Saturday!

Love the Pillsbury Dough Boy balloon pic, Janet:) We aren't up to much today. Den just left to do a bit of grocery shopping and drop of some new prescriptions he got from his Dermatologist yesterday. He is having his normal Saturday fare for dinner Cheeseburgers and fries and I am ordering Chinese food. We may start putting the pictures back up on the walls today and start getting things back in order. We shall see how he feels about doing that this afternoon.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Good morning, Janet. Go for the coffee! The pix of the two officers looks like one is texting instead of watching the goings on - ha ha ha. He may be checking in or corresponding with HQ or whatever, and the photo is deceptive.

Woke up to a 36F outside temperature, still drizzly rain. The total was 1.75 inches yesterday evening, 6 inches last week, we have a mucky, saturated ground. Probably can't get to the back forty to reset the game cameras because I imagine the dry creek is way up again. At least the wind has died down.

Our daughter is supposed to carry an epipen also, Bren, but they are so pricey she usually just takes some Benadryl along and tries to stay away from "stuff" -- of course, she is allergic to tomatoes, carrots, most citrus fruits, you name it, so she has become quite good at figuring out menus, etc. She can't eat a piece of lettuce that has touched a tomato.

We will see if it was actually Blondie if he is in the trap. Unless, of course, after 5 times getting live trapped it finally penetrated his not-so-bright raccoon skull to avoid them. They are fascinating little critters, very cute, and quite smart. Several people around here have had raccoon invasions in their barns and coops. One trapped 14 coons and 2 of their barn cats. We captured at least 3 different ones on the game camera. Our outside cat has avoided the traps. I like to think Geezer is smart, but he probably just doesn't like the bait.

O.K., Wayne is back from feeding horses. Must go see what the game cameras have. See you later.

Hope Den makes out well with his errands Joce.Yum on Den's Cheese burgers and your Chinese food.
Wow on capturing 14 raccoons on one person's property Karen. That's a lot of raccoons.
Jim has invited a friend of his over to watch the Grey Cup tomorrow. I have two casserole dishes of cabbage rolls in the freezer so I am going to serve those up along with perogies. Will also make them some appy's. Will have to peek at Pinterest for some ideas. :)

    Hi all;)

Janet, yes, we'll be making turkey veg noodle soup today:) I have some fresh celery and carrots & onions, leftover green beans from TG...and of course, lots of leftover turkey..it's cold today..Rick is making a fire:) Cozy quiet day here for sure:)

Joce, I love that you and Den have different dinners..it sounds soooo much like us! Have a lovely day:)

Karen, I adore raccoons..they are something else:) Blondie sounds like a special raccoon..I can relate to her..not so bright at times:-D Barn cats? Do they have to fend for themselves? I sure hope not..when it's so freezing cold here, I always think of the animals who have to be out in the weather..some people just don't know how to properly care for them..
How many eggs do you have today? Love that you have fresh eggs!

We'll be having turkey soup for dinner with some garlic french bread:)

Well, off to check on how much of a mess Rick made making a fire..I noticed wood on the living room floor as I walked to the office..sigh...

    Decided on
5 Spice Rock Cornish Game Hens
for dinner this evening. I've got some green beans in the freezer and some edamame I think as a side. Perhaps a baked potato as well.
Your house will smell wonderful with soup simmering Marie. Nice on a fire. We've just got the pellet stove on at the moment but will have a fire this evening. They are messy things I admit.

Marie, our barn cat is fed twice a day and that barn (hay loft) is toasty. We had a little kitty I worried about when the temp dropped to below zero, and when I went out to check on her she was toasty warm in the hay. If it gets REALLY bad I have sometimes brought them inside to the basement, when they were very old (Butterscotch esp.) but you have to be very careful or they do not stay adjusted to cold weather. I don't like to see domestic critters left outside with no shelter, either, in extremely bad weather. We moved the horses to the field by the barn so they could go inside the aisle -- the dummies spent the majority of the time standing in the cold rain! However, at least they have a choice.

Neighbor to the East of us killed a wild boar this morning and thought he wounded another. I heard the CANON (not really) go off and wondered what caliber it was. He owns three pigs, which are attracting the wild ones. Wayne helped his buddy go pick it up, since the neighbor didn't want the wild pig (hard work processing it). We got another raccoon last night. Saw 2 coons and 1 pack rat the size of small cat sand 1 regular size rat and 1 mouse on the one game camera, none on the other two.

Oh goodness at the wild boar at your neighbour's and all the action in your barn last night sighted on the game camera Karen. Ugh at the pack rat.
I'm getting hungry for lunch. Have to go figure out where Jim is outside.

Karen, You and Wayne take such great care of all of your animals..that's funny on the horses wanting to stay out in the rain! I sure envy your lifestyle..I know it's a ton of work, but so rewarding..I'm a farm girl at heart:)

Nothing like a nice cozy house with some homemade soup simmering away on the stove Janet:) It smells wonderful:)

    Good afternoon everyone.
It's a beautiful, sunny day here.

Lol @ the man falling asleep, Janet. The dinner was a lot of fun, great stories about some of the dogs and cats. No, she's never carried and epipen. This was her first really bad reaction. Annie slept through the night so I think that she's on the mend.Yumm on the cabbage rolls and the cornish hen recipe looks delish.

I love the pictures and the dough boy does look like he's free falling.

    Enjoy your Chinese Joce.

I hope that the rain stops soon, Karen. I had to google pack rats, since I had not heard of that species. How on earth would you get rid of them without harming the barn cats? Evidently we have wild boars as well, who knew. I googled that as well and the caption read "shoot to kill". They are nasty looking.

I can almost smell your soup, Marie. Soup cooking or bread baking, not sure which smells better.

I am having a really lazy day today. I should get going on the laundry but I think that I will leave it till tomorrow.

Dinner will be our usual grilled steak. I'm thinking of making fresh pasta tomorrow and it's been awhile since we've had pasta. I think that Joe won't fuss to much about having it. Nearly thirty years later and I still don't understand how he can dislike pasta.
    Have a great day everyone.

It's too cold out so we've abandoned the idea of going out to BBQ the Game Hen. Shall try find another recipe I can do with it in the oven.
I wrote up a review on your smashed potatoes in IMI this morning Bren. It was very yummy. Your steak dinner sounds deelish. Again I'm envious of you making fresh pasta. I truly want to give that a whirl come the New Year.
Yes Karen, how can you get rid of the rats without harming the cats?

Hi Bren..so glad to hear Annie is feeling better:) That is kindof hard to believe Joe dislikes pasta! I think we have it way too often..my husband Rick is Italian, so that;s probably why!
    Have a lovely day:)

Hi all! Got back today at about 4pm. The drive was horrible. It rained the whole way and the traffic was bad. Saw two wrecks happen, both with the car behind us! Scary! The second wreck was right as we were turning off the freeway onto the road our subdivision is off of, and the two drivers got out and started fist fighting!

Yesterday was a blast, we took the kids to sit on cowboy Santa's lap. We got all 8 great grand kids in the picture and we gave it to Nana and Papa. It was a great gift, and all the kids cooperated. Came back and a couple of the guys grilled some burgers and hot dogs for everyone. We had exactly 40 people there lol! 32 family members and 8 friends of the family. After dinner we started playing poker. I went to bed at about 10:30 after I lost all my money :( Lol it was only $10. Michael told me in the morning that they were up until 2:30 playing and at one point there was $400 in the pot! Crazy, glad I went to bed :)

Dinner tonight was whatever we could scrounge up, I was too tired to cook a meal. Michael had a sandwich and I just sauteed up a zucchini. Bri had pizza rolls and Caiden chicken nuggets. Will probably hit the sack early. Will skim through the post and catch up with everyone, night night!
