Super Sunday

Hi Ladies (and Gents?) --- Have a great day
Only wee bit translation today --we've done well over last 2 days so having a wee rest.
Paper day for Chris and I --- Sunday Times again --- 50 years our Sunday treat.with breakfast and beyond.
Bad day yesterday sportswise --Scotland lost at rugby and my team Aberdeen got hammered at home - football.
Still England also got hammered so a wee ray of sunshine.
I hope everyone is now fit and well and looking forward to the day.
    Take care.
Tonight something quickish and simple --- my versiĆ³n of Italian Classic.
    Cheers.
    Spaghetti Alla Carbonara

Good morning, Don! Your dinner sounds great! I'm thinking either your paella recipe, a jambalaya, or cioppino. I'm leaning toward the cioppino for today; I have to head to the store no matter what as Suzy needs dog food. I also am baking a cherry pie for a co-worker's birthday tomorrow. It isn't really his birthday, tomorrow; it's actually in July but we don't work in the summer (school employees) so we "make up" his birthday month to celebrate - any excuse for a goodie! :)

    Good Morning Don and MA!
Enjoy your Sunday Times Don. Our local paper which we very much enjoy, quit producing a Sunday paper about 2-3 ? years ago and we were really disappointed. Now we try and stretch the Saturday paper to last us. Too bad on your Sports Teams. I'm a big Hockey Fan and even though it was just a pre-season game, my Ottawa Senators beat Montreal last night so I 'm happy. :) Your dinner plans sound yummy.
Cioppino sounds great MA! Marie's got a lovely recipe for that too that I've made before.
    Ricks Cioppino
Yum on the cherry pie. I haven't had that in forever. Lucky birthday boy!
Marie, what did you end up doing yesterday?
Sounds like your Grandson had a nice birthday Karen. We had a fire last night as well.
Our dinner party went very well. Marie, your mushroom caps got totally gobbled up. One of them had 3 helpings of the Beet Carpaccio so I was pretty happy about that and the other totally finished off his Game Hen (the rest of us had leftovers) and we served a nice Ice Wine that we'd picked up in the Niagara this past summer , with the Apple crisp so all in all it was really lovely and I think they enjoyed themselves.
Not sure what's on the agenda today. I have some computer stuff to do, forms that need filling a a few letters to write.....
I have leftover ham from Fri. night so think I'll make Ham and Scalloped potatoes with cheese for dinner this evening.
    Have a lovely Sunday everybody!

    Good morning ladies & gent:)

Don, sorry your teams lost yesterday! We have a football game we will be watching today..Green Bay Packers (our team) and the SF 49'ers..we like Green Bay since Aaron Rodgers is from my hometown, Chico:)

Hi Motherann! Good to see you:) I vote for Cioppino:) Yum on a fresh baked cherry pie:) Have a lovely day:)

Janet, we went to Blues & Brews..Rick had a good time, as always, my little social butterfly:) He wanted to go since some of the GC's he works with were serving up the brews..he said it was more of a PR thing..yeah right:) So I was a good girl and drove him to and fro:) We didn't make it to the Italian dinner..we just settled in at home..the winds blew hard all night long, I can't wait for the sun to come up so I can see if any branches fell...with all these trees, our yard will be a mess..it's still blowing..just not as hard.
What a lovely evening you all had! So pleased the stuffed mushrooms were a hit;)

We will have appy's during the game and probably for dinner as well:) Need to do a little grocery shopping this morning and pickup some fresh baked sammie rolls, ham, chips and ingredients to make onion dip...I should also make some stuffed mushrooms! can't have too many appy's for game day:) Rick will have his little smokies and BBQ sauce going in the crock pot as well:)

    Wishing everyone a lovely Sunday:)

Morning Marie! Enjoy your appys and Game today. Sounds like a lovely way to spend a Sunday! Glad Rick had a good time at Blues & Brews. Ugh on the high winds. Hope it didn't cause too much damage. Jim and I were just out in our woods yesterday afternoon and Jim showed me four small trees that had blown right over and peeled the ground underneath them up. :( Always sad to lose a tree. Mmmmmm onion dip, smokies and BBQ sauce.

Morning! We have never been paper readers here Don, when we go to my MIL's though, they always have a Sunday paper lying around and Michael and I love doing the crossword puzzle lol! Ugh, sorry on your football teams, we are big football lovers so I know how you feel :(

Hi MotherAnne! Any one of those dinners sound great! Neat on y'all getting able to celebrate you co-workers bday whenever you want lol :)

Wow, sounds like you dinner party went great Janet! 3 helpings of the beets!!?? Yum on ham and scalloped potatoes!

So nice of you to be Rick's driver to Brews & Blues Marie :) Yum on all your appy's, perfect for game day!

Texan's game comes on at noon, but we will miss it as we have to be at Bri's game at 12:30. Then she has another game at 3:30 and then Caiden has a game at 5. Bri will be pitching for the first time at the first game so she is really nervous. She's only had 2 rounds of pitching lessons so we weren't expecting the coach to want her in there this early, but he says it's just to get her used to being on the mound and it will only be for a couple of batters. I will miss the last two games though because I am going with a friend to a cookbook signing! http://paleomg.com/book-tour-2015-starts-today-see-all-stops-here/ Should be fun, and while we are down there we are going to do some shopping. Now I gotta figure out what to wear, lol going from Softball field t-shirt to dress up :) We are going to stop somewhere over there for dinner as well, have a great day everyone!

What a very fun day you have lined up Michelle! AND BUSY! Holy Smokes! Can you PVR the game to watch later? That's what we did last night. There was a pre-season hockey game on while our guests were here so we just PVR'd it. Once they headed off we stayed up 'til midnight and watched the first two periods then poured our coffee this morning and finished watching it then. :) Good Luck to Brianna on her pitching debut. It will be good for her to get a feel for it and she might pleasantly surprise herself as to her ability. How fun on your cookbook signing. Have fun and enjoy your shopping and dinner.

Yea:) The Packer's won! Go pack Go:)

Wow, Michelle, busy, busy day! I hope you DVR'd your Texan's game:)

Janet, I'm sitting here trying to figure out what the "P" in PVR'd stands for....I can be a little slow at times:) Here in the states we say DVR, which I assume (haha) means Digital Video Recorder!

OK, just googled it..means Personal Video Recorder?

Yep, you got it Marie. That's what they call them here but I do know you guys in the States refer to them as DVR. :) One in the same.

I'm around. Hello All! Still out of sorts, massive fibro flare-up. The bad ones seem to correlate with a disrupted sleep. My sleep doctor can't see me til 10/20. My pcp has ordered blood work to check iron levels and my bruising.

Cooked a huge slow cooker of red beans and rice. Also fixed a pot of homemade sloppy joes. Sent beans and rice to Allison's. She can't eat anything with tomato, it burns too much. She has 13 more treatments. The radiation has burned a bald spot on her head and her very long hair is suffering.

Liv is nearing the end of her 13 day stretch. She is tired.

Hope all are well. Be kind to yourself, you are worth it.
