Tapdance into Thursday

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! I am in the best spirits I've been in probably a month so feel like a million bucks! :)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBb9hTyLjfM
Mom called from the Hospital and it sounds like the Dr.'s are going to remove the neph tube from her back this morning and may spring her loose this aft.! She is thrilled and so am I!
The Roast Duck Soup was AMAZING last night, as were the eggrolls so it was a lovely meal. I'll post the soup recipe in just a bit.
So glad you're calling a Dermatologist Tina. You need relief. :) Very cool on the lifesize Jenga game. So great to hear Liv is doing so well. When's her weekend away again? And her last shift at Seahag's must be coming up too hey?
Sorry to hear you guys lost the Championship Game Kimmer but kudos to the team for getting there in the first place. Enjoy your time with Michael. So awesome you have him home for a bit.
This morning I need to clean my house from top to bottom. Jim's brother, SIL and niece are coming to visit for the weekend arriving tomorrow afternoon. Then I have the dishwasher repairman showing up after lunch as well as the guys to install the new TV. Jim is so excited! :) Just in time for the Sens Second Game in Round 2 tomorrow night.
For those not on FB and incase Lori doesn't make it in here today, Bryan came through his surgery just fine and will be at the Hospital until they discharge him on Saturday. Waving to Lori!
Laura, Laurie, Marie and Joce....what's on the agenda for today?
    For dinner I am making
    Mixed Greens With Parmesan Crisps
    with baked potatoes and Pat's
    Oven Fried Panko Chicken
Have a most wonderful day everyone! :)

Mixed Greens With Parmesan Crisps looks like a nice recipe. I might just make something similar for our dinner, with a homemade dressing. Love the parmesan crisps! hmmmm, romaine, grapes, walnuts.....dijon mustard/maple dressing maybe.

Yeah, on your Mom, Janet.....I do hope she is discharged. Ugh on the house cleaning top to bottom. YOU have more energy than I do. So nice the Roasted Duck soup was amazing. Sounds delicious. I read a recipe that is right up your alley, Janet. It was boneless skinless chicken thighs, in a coating of lowfat mayo and HORSERADISH and then Panko bread crumbs and shallow pan fried. Aren't you the horseradish fan? It sounded good to me.

Liv is leaving Sea Hags after Memorial Day weekend. Her weekend away is the second weekend in June. We were online, debating boots and blades late into the night. LOL Can you tell how thrilled I am that she is skating again? She has been off the ice far too long.

Great news on Bryan! Happy to hear he is doing well. Hugs to Lori!

Fred is outside building a fire in the smoker. Boston Butt is coming to room temperature before putting it in the smoker box. The new potato caper salad is resting in the frig for "whenever". I have a rotisserie chicken that is destined to be either chicken salad or enchiladas depending on the mood and ingredients.

We heard chickens outside this morning. I swear our new neighbors two doors down took down the huge bamboo stand in the backyard and have put in a hen house. (the bamboo was sixty feet tall, it was impressive) I so want to go peak over their new fence......I heard chickens!!!!!! Fresh eggs, I think I need to make a batch of lemon bars and say welcome to the neighborhood. Yep!

Sweet Florida Corn at Publix 10 ears for $3.00
Breakfast is leftover steak and overeasy eggs.....whole wheat toast. Yummy.

Good Morning Marie! I ALWAYS bake the eggrolls. They're a teeny chewy that way, but still really yummy. Ooooo...that Chicken Artichoke Casserole sounds really good. I've never had that. Burgers sound excellent. That's what I'm making tomorrow night.
Wow tina, that chicken thigh recipe with the horseradish does indeed sound like something I would devour! :) Yep, I LOVE horseradish. That's really excellent Liv is back skating. Is she still with Scotty? Oh my goodness, between the smoked Pork, the caper salad and the rotisserie chicken you have me definitely salivating. Super delish! Are people allowed to raise chickens in your neighbourhood? I know some places have bylaws against it. I've always thought it would be fun to raise chickens. My Mom used to for years. Envying the lemon bars and the corn and your breakfast. And,and,and.....:)

Janet, we are allowed to have chickens, but no roosters. My former sister-in-law has three hens. They lay blue eggs. She says they are easy to raise.

I'm going to try that chicken in horseradish/panko next week.
Yes, she is still with Scotty, but barely...he is so controlling. He doesn't believe she is adamant about leaving Sea Hags. He has been going to watch her skate and admitted that is the happiest he has seen her in months....well, duh? of course, she is happy doing what she spent 12 years of her life in practice and shows. She says all her worries melt away when she skates. How nice to have that relief!

Marie, chipotle veggie burgers, where do you find them, do tell? yum.
How nice of you to take the casserole to your mom and dad. Chicken and artichoke is a great combo. I saw the rain in your forecast this a.m. on GMA. Hope it quells the fires and does more good than harm. And what was this about mushroom lasagna?

    Hey everyone
Just sitting on the deck enjoying the sun before I have to go to work. It will be dead at the mall as its beautiful out! Not sure what's for dinner was gonna just throw som dogs on the grill after work and Rachel's Lax game but they expired yesterday!
Making polenta topped with fresh basil, tomato and shaved cheese to bring to work for lunch. Something to look forward to! I love summer! I just saw a ranking of top ten beaches. St Pete Florida was I think #2. Falmouth Ma was #4.
I really don't want to go to work lol I just want to sit here !

Cool Laurie. There was a hotel on St. Pete. Beach that was featured on the Today Show as top getaway for Memorial Day. The PostCard Inn. It is a very cool retro Inn. Polenta with tomato, basil and cheese? yummy!

I hear you on just sitting outside, it is glorious. We are savoring the last of the cool mornings. I can sit in the back yard in the a.m. and in the evening sit on the front porch and avoid the hot sun.

Can't get an appointment to a dermatologist for three weeks. Nothing open, have me on the wait list for cancellations.

Tina, Morningstar Black Bean Chiptole Burgers are from Costco..in the frozen foods..they are delish:) Haven't tried the mushroom lasagna yet, it's been too hot to use the oven..lol It's an Ina Garten recipe..

Janet, yes, they're not crispy baked, but that is the ONLY way I make them as well..if you spray with some oil and bake on 400..might help..and also turn then half way thru baking :)

    Hi Laurie! Love polenta!!!!

Gotta run! I'll check back later!!

LOL! I understand on the roosters alright Tina! So nice on the blue eggs. Very fun. If you do try that Chicken Horseradish dish be sure to let me know. If that patch of skin gets at all worse, you head to Emerg you hear? :)
Soak up that sunshine Laurie. I know how hard it is to go into work when it is so gorgeous outside. Used to make me want to be a kid again so I could 'skip school'. :) Oh there! Just read you'd switched your shift around. Good for you! Bring on the Sun Gods! :)
Marie, I have been able to get them pretty nice and brown and crispy. I do flip them a few times and I make sure my bake sheet is well oiled. I find peanut oil seems to do the best trick.

Oh goodness, I have a massive attack of the yawns. My eyes are watering. LOL
I almost melted my bows off my nails putting the roast pork in the smoker. Yikes.

Looks like I'll need to check the veggie burger aisle more carefully, Marie.

    Yeah, Laurie, good switcheroo.

Janet, I'll try to get a full review for you on the chicken in horseradish crust, I'm thinking it would be next Wednesday.

Productive day on my end so far. The dishwasher repairman just left (you would have liked him Laura...wink), and the dishwasher is working like a dream, just in time for our company. And I've swept and washed the floors, hosed things down, dusted, etc. Now all that's left is the washrooms and the vacuuming. TV guys should be here shortly and I'm feeling a little peckish.
I think I mentioned that the Tulip Festival is on in Ottawa at the moment. Here's a link incase anyone wants to see what it's all about.

House is totally totally clean (although I didn't dust the bookshelves...ssshhhhh) and the TV guys were here and set up the TV. But...now my phones don't work? I'm wondering if they did something in the set up? Argh. Decorated my fireplace mantel with Sens Stuff for tomorrow night's game. And Mom got sprung from the Hospital! Jim is going to go fetch her on his way home from work. Gotta go prep dinner. Hope everyone had a good day.

Yeah!! Mom is on her way.
Pulled the pork off the smoker after 3 hours and have it in oven for a slow finish, we will be eating late......8 or so. Doctored up some Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ with honey and yellow mustard. Big puffy rolls from the bakery. Caper potato salad, made another salad with leftover grilled onion and zucchini dressed up with cherry tomatoes and crumbled feta with oil and vinegar. Making more olive crostini to tide us over.

Made up chicken salad with the rotisserie bird, with grapes, celery, almonds, and a ginger dressing!! That will be our lunches for the next two.

Janet. there is a salad in Brian Boitano's cookbook has your name all over it. Olive bread croutons!!!!! fennel, mixed greens and all kinds of goodness! I have to make it.
Oh I wanted to mention, IMO the added lemon juice made the giardiniera too tart. Add a squirt of honey and see if it mellows it out.

I have to mention once again my little Dirt Devil auto floor sweeper....I know it would never survive if Oliver was alive, he would have been tormented beyond belief with a round automatic sweeper. His hatred of all things circular, was intense. Rest in peace, my dear misunderstood Oliver. Anyway this little sweeper is a hoot to watch and man does it ever get up the dog hair. I have to charge it every night, it runs 30 minutes to an hour and picks up fuzz balls. You know it is full when it starts spitting out hair balls. Do I have shedding dogs?.....why, yes, I do, three of them. Dusting is a never-ending battle in this house.

Spot on leg is getting flakier and the black spot is painful. I may go to a walk-in clinic and let them culture it. We have a walk-in that does cultures. They are the ones that diagnosed Liv's MRSA. I may just have to get to them in the morning.

Fred has gone to bed on me. It is just yet six? Oh well. I'll wake him later to see if he want his pulled pork masterpiece. Silly man, sat in the sun all afternoon. LOL Our license tag is "Sun God" in honor of Fred's alterego. I will never be able to tell how SunGod was born, it is toooooooooooooo embarrassing and way before my time. I did meet the SunGod in his full glory at a Van-in in Orlando Florida and suffice to say, my opinion of Fred was instantly altered forever. LOL Hey when I first met him, he had on a black eyepatch in a three piece suit. Can you say "pirate in disquise"? Wow, 30 years of memories. From pirate to SunGod and now he is channeling Mr. Roper from Three's Company. We are a pair of loonies.

Tina your pulled pork sounds devine. So does the caper potato salad. Yes, those olive bread croutons sound lovely. Thanks for the honey tip for the giardiniera. Cool on the Dirt Devil sweeper. Yes, go to the clinic. :)
Busy day. But a good one.

Hey all. Work was dead! Didn't have one sale. Just went grocery shopping for my Soy Vay party Saturday night. It's teriyaki sauce so I am going to do wings and thighs, egg rolls but sub the sauce for my other seasonings and rice.
My friend is having some trouble with her teenage daughters. She just called me to tell me that she was on her way with a six pack of beer and chips. Lol. At least this time she didn't call me from my driveway :)

    Good evening all.

Janet, YEAH on Mom being "sprung"!!! Know you feel better having her home under your loving care!

Tina, I could have been in bed with Fred at 6:00 this evening! Oh gee, that didn't sound very well did it, lol. Well I meant, when I got home from work I could have easily gone to bed at 6! So very tired tonight. And all I can say about Liv is.........skate away baby girl, skate away!!!!! I remember all the costume talk for her, back in the day! We should all have that kind of outlet!

Hello to Laurie and Marie as well. Tried to read back but really only have one eye open right now, lol. Dinner was burgers and hotdogs on the grill. Clean up then off to bed early for me tonight.

Have to say, all the little annoying things that used to irritate me and I would nag him on when Michael was growing up are now endearing to my heart. I swear, he was better about it when he was a kid! Like every time I walk into the kitchen and the pantry door is open. Yep, Mike's been there! Or the plate full of napkins and garbage sitting on the counter next to the trash can..........yep Mike's been there! Or the dirty undies and socks on the bathroom floor.....yep Mike's been there! Or the toothpaste in the bathroom sink not rinsed down.....yep Mike's been there! Or his shoes, the size of boats, left in the front walk way as I trip over them with groceries in my hand....yep Mike's been there! Or the empty box of Cheezits (his favorite) left on the living room coffee table the night before....yep Mike's been there! Or the wet towel just left on the deck after a swim....yep Mike's been there! As I clean up after him on Sunday when he leaves and then is deployed..........there will be a smile in my heart...........and a tear in my eye................

    Sleep Sweet All.....................as always........................

Cool on your Soy Vay Party Laurie. I love the name. Also love wings and eggrolls. LOL @ your friend with the girls and the much needed beer. :)
Kimmer. I am very pleased that Mom is out of the hospital. We don't have the most 'loving' relationship though. But I am glad she's out and she's doing well. Yum on burgers and dogs. You were rueing the fact that your 'little boy' had gone and been replaced yesterday but looks like there is still some reminders of him left for you to hug. :) Strength to you on Sunday. Sleep sweet back at ya'.
