Teaching on Thursday

  • LindaLMT 7 years ago
Good Morning Everyone! Just wanted to get a thread started ...

I have mentally accepted my new role as my DH's teacher. I spend a great deal of time with him trying to teach him to sound out letters properly. I figure if he wants to do it I'll be willing to invest myself to teaching. It's hard and challenging but necessary. Hoping one day it all starts clicking for him and happens.

Nice to see you have been lurking Kimmer and completely understandable about posting but so happy to see you did. I'm sure you are emotionally drained and most important to heal and take care. I'm so happy to hear Charlie is still hanging in there.
As long as he's not suffering I say let him be. I've been where you are at and have helped many animal companions into the afterlife ... some with assistance when needed and others as they slowly slipped peacefully away on their own. ((((HUGS)))).

    Good Morning Everyone!

I am almost certain he will get there, Linda. It will take quite a bit of work and frustration but it will pay off in the end.

I have been lurking and not really feeling like chatting. I do that every once in awhile. Nothing much going on for me to talk about anyways. I am not sure what we are having for dinner yet. I will have to think on that.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

So happy to see you Joce! I was getting worried something might be wrong but understand sometimes not being up for chatting.
I bet your getting a slight case of 'cabin fever' and will be happy to see Spring. You all had a tough winter for sure.

Hi Linda! I think it's AWESOME that you have decided to be DH's teacher. Good for you. It takes a while to sort out roles and hopes and goals after an experience such as a stroke. I wish you and DH the very, very best going forward.

Gentle hugs to you and Charlie Kimmer. What a great family Charlie has.

Hi Joce! How are you liking these balmy temperatures today? It's already 6C/42F here this morning and supposed to go higher. They're calling for 11C on Saturday! Shaking head.

    Making
    Chuckies Chili
    and
    White Bread
    for dinner this evening.

Had leftover Fajitas and leftover Coconut Chicken soup for dinner last night which was totally perfect.

Working away on Ancestry and discovered a "Swedish Genealogy" group on FB. I bet that's going to come in handy! :)

I slept in 'til almost 9 this morning. Jim was up just after 7 and by the time I came out he was already down in the basement laying out his flooring. LOL. We just finished breakfast. He's so excited to get going. He's got a Dentist appointment to go to this afternoon at 1 so I'll probably go along to keep him company.

Hope everyone has a great day.

My mouth is drooling for some home made bread Janet! I would rather eat fresh home made bread over cake, or pies, or cookies!! Just give me some good butter too.

    Morning everyone.

It is great you are working with your DH, Linda. I'm sure it will help. Williams Sonoma does have some cute items!

Fully understand not being up to posting at times, Joce. Sometimes there is just too much happening around us to have the inclination!

Chili sounds good, Janet. I got lazy yesterday so MUST use the chicken today or chili would be on the agenda here, also.

Nothing going on today. I spent the morning thrashing through the budget. Hate that task! Now to pay bills so we can start again next month. Ha ha. Direct TV upped the cost by $50 month. Typical move after the one or two year introductory price. Aargh!

    Good afternoon everyone.
I agree with the others Linda. Good for you for taking that on.
You'll know when the time is right Kimmer. I've had a series of GSD's and believe that he will let you know.
Nice to see you Joce and I totally understand. Sometimes I get overwhelmed.
I am loving this weather Janet. I just got home and it's 13% out there. That is an awesome pic of your bread, your chilli looks good too! Good for you for sleeping in , sometimes we need to.
That is so typical Karen. Bills are a never ending chore. I've delegated that one to Joe.
I had a puppy here for a few hours and I am beat. She never sat down, whew, glad that Annie isn't like that anymore.
Dinner will be Baked Chicken Schnitzel By Chef V with a salad and a baked potato.
Enjoy the rest of your day!!

I left the bread to rise while I went in with Jim to his appointment. Put it in pans once I got home and it'll go in the oven shortly. I made one large loaf and two small ones and I hope to bring one of the small ones over to my friend and her hubby tomorrow if we can hook up for tea.

LInda, the bunny dishes are AH-dorbs, as is the Nordicware Bunny cake pan. I love stuff like that. :)

Ouch on your TV provider upping your bill by $50/month Karen. Yuck. But yes, they lure us in with their introductory prices and then stick it to us afterwards. It's a racket.

Recently I announced that Jim had switched us over to Primus for our landline phone and it would save us $500/year. Primus called us yesterday and told us that we were not in their area and they could not service us unless we went digitally. Shaking head. The guy at Costco who sold us on it said we were in their area. I'd go digital and Jim certainly would but what it means is if the power goes off we have absolutely no way to communicate, not by internet nor by phone. And with my luck, something major is going to happen right at that time and I wouldn't be able to call for help. So...back to looking for an alternate provider and back to Jim grumbling about how much Bell charges us. :)

Hello all. Thank you for all the kind words and thoughts. Just a quick Hi here. Dinner tonight is salisbury meatballs over egg noodles. Meatballs have been cooking in the crock pot all day and the aroma has driven me absolutely crazy all afternoon! Smells soooo good. Grandson's first baseball game of the season is tonight. I am not going but the boys are. I will go to his next game on Saturday. I prefer day games anyway.

    Hope all enjoy their evening.

Karen, I just dealt with Dierctv today. My bill is over $200 a month now (it's gone up the last two months and will go up again next month) and because DH watches so much tv I didn't want to reduce our channels or change anything other than what I'm paying. After calling the regular number and pleading my case, the guy switched me over to another department. Long story short they are taking $45 off a month as long as I agree to a one year contract which is fine with me. Try calling them and continue to call them until you get the right person to help.

How sweet on having a puppy with you today Bren. Reminds me of the days when LD was a baby. He never stopped and the first day he took a 5 minute nap with me was thrilling!

Bummer Janet on the landline. Dont you hate getting excited to be not find out the information was bad. How did your bread turn out? Now you have me wanting to make some but I know what'll happen if I do, I'll eat it all!
The place we went to to eat tonight is in a shopping mall and there is a Williams and Sonoma there too so we took a quick detour and I got to see the plates. They are so nice! And they have platters, napkins, etc. but so expensive! I would wait for end of season and hope to pick something up on sale but I just don't need anymore stuff.
