Thoughtful Thursday

    Hi all!!

Tina I am so glad that Olivia popped up and brought you dinner and other goodies :) Thanks for the tip on the bruise with using Arnica. I have no idea what that is, what section is it in? Luckily she came home from school yesterday her bruise and whelp had gone down tremendously! I was shocked! Kids heal up quick.

Karen they do wear helmets when they are batting. At the time she got hit, they were just paired up throwing back and forth to each other. Her partner was the coaches daughter and she throws like a monster!

I made Briauna an appt. this afternoon to get contacts. We will get free trial pairs (not sure how many?) but we will have to pay out of pocket for the appt. UGH! It has to be done though, I cant stand the thought of her getting hit in the glasses and possible eye injury. Hopefully she will just pop the contacts in her eyes no problem like I did when I got them. I do know some people have problems with them though. I ended up making chicken meatballs last night with spaghetti sauce and zucchini noodles. It was delish!! Okay off to dig through the freezer for inspiration!! Wishing everyone a fantastic day!

Glad Briauna is doing well. It is surprising how kids do bounce back!

It is a beautiful, sunny, windy, cold morning in Central MO. The weatherman is being cagey about Monday and Tuesday, calling for SNOW but also hinting it may be the big ice storm of the year. OF course we don’t have the generator installed or the wood burning insert - natch! It was supposed to be installed this week but you know how that is -- an estimated time.

The GSs and daughter are going to a swim meet for the youngest this weekend, so we have Sunday to ourselves. I guess I best stop by WalMart on the way home and stock up on a few essentials.

Wayne’s buddy caught the orange raccoon in his live trap behind the barn. He brought the trap to the house and we got pictures of him before he let him out to live another day. He was surprisingly mellow and took off full speed ahead when he opened the door.

Good Morning Michelle! Funny pics! :) Kids do heal quickly don't they! :) ROFL @ the Coach's daughter throwing like a monster. Bri must be excited to be going to get contacts. Keep us tuned how she does with them. What are you making for dinner this evening?
The Heat Pump Guy did get the Heat Pump up and running again yesterday so that's a load off. Anyone want to start a pool to see how long it runs this time?
Benjamin and I went for lunch at Fratelli yesterday.
    http://www.fratelli.ca/
I had the Beef Carpaccio Arugula salad with roasted mushrooms and Benj had Gnocchi Pomodoro. A lovely Petite Syrah to go with. Dinner was lovely. In 2009 the three of us had taken a wine tour in Prince Edward County and we still had a bottle of Marquesa (similar to a Port) from Harwood Estates in the basement. Benjamin and I went to a Cheese shop yesterday and asked for a recommendation of what would go with it and they sold us Stichelton Raw Milk Stilton so that's what we had as dessert. It was perfect.
We had a lot more snow overnight and woke to yet another Winter Wonderland. We've decided to go for Dim Sum this morning and then a stroll through the Westboro area of town. I'd like to go back to that Balsamic/Olive Oil shop that I went to before Christmas and get another couple goodies. :)
    http://emulsify.ca/
We'd like to stop in to an Italian Deli there as well and pick up some fresh pasta, sauce, etc. for our dinner this evening. It'll make for an easy dinner for me to throw together.
Morning Karen! The orange raccoon would have been very happy to get to sprint away I'm sure.
    Wishing everyone a great day.

Good to hear Briauna is doing just fine after being hit by the ball like that. Kids do heal at an amazing rate don't they! I hope she adjusts very well to her new contacts also. No doubt you will find many ideas for dinner from things in your freezer. LOL Cute pic jokes:) Arnica is also very good for relieving sore muscles you will find it in your Pharmacy along with other rubs.
Karen, When I was on Pinterest the other day they had a pic of an albino raccoon and it looked just like your light orange raccoon. I meant to mention it to you before I forgot.
If you google pics of albino raccoons some of the pics look just like the one who comes to visit you. Enjoy your beautiful sunny day. CRAFT is Can't remember a ?#? thing:)

Janet, Good to hear the heat pump guy got your heat pump back up running again and you had such a lovely lunch with Ben yesterday. The menu there has an amazing variety of different things to pick from. YUM! The Stilton you had for dessert last night sounds awesome as well. Enjoy your Dim Sum and stroll around Westboro today. You sound like you are feeling much better today. I hope so anyway. Your dinner plans sound very good to me:)

Tina, Very pleased Liv finally came to your rescue with many goodies for you yesterday.
Charlie Brown must have jumped over the moon excited to see her too! Good luck with finding the perfect house and UGH on all the paperwork etc. However all that stuff has to be done. LOL cute little reminders of Fred:) Your multicoloured polka dot nails sound just beautiful!

Marie, It is good to hear you guys are so busy! Your GD Business has really taken off!

It was nice and sunny and bright yesterday afternoon and I had a terrible urge to go out. I am really glad I did! The pavement and sidewalks were dry and safe to walk on. My hairdresser was able to fit me in and I feel so much better with my haircut. After that I went to Foodsmiths and bought a bunch of things. LOL I did very well even though I left my list on the table. I got home at the same time as Den and he carried all the things I bought in. Good timing eh! We ended out having honey garlic pork ribs and rice for dinner last night. We are having Salmon Souffle with asparagus and maybe a baked potato?

    Wishing everyone a wonderful day~!

    Good morning everyone!
Gosh, I've come on here and started writing things so many times to have my internet cut out on me! grr, the internet company is even charging us for high speed when it's clearly only high speed for an hour or two a day, lol. Anyways, I'm in now, I'll make it quick!
Another illness hit our house, I just got Sophia back to school yesterday and then my son got sick so he's home. Now I woke up with it! Ugh, colds get me down.
I hope everyone has managed to stay healthy! There are some nasty bugs going around this year.
I made pan seared chicken breasts with garlic from the AR site last night http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pan-Seared-Chicken-Breasts-with-Shallots/Detail.aspx
I have no idea what to make tonight. I even went to the store to grab a few things yesterday and never thought about dinner! Gosh, scatter brained. I'll have to rummage through the freezer too Michelle!
I wish we had those kind of shops around here Janet, sounds so good! That's what I miss about living in Vancouver. You must be so happy to have your son home, yay!
Hi Joce, good to 'see" you! I hope you are doing well! Glad you got some sun yesterday. I think we are getting some today after this deep freeze and snow all week.
    Hi Tina! thinking of you!
    Have a great day everyone!

Hi Shona, I was thinking about you this morning and sometimes my esp works:) Yay! I am glad it did today:) Sorry to hear you have still been having a rough time of it with colds again. Do you all take Echinacea or Honey with Cinnamon mixed on a spoon. They say some of those home remedies work. I actually bought some Eucalyptus Oil yesterday at the Health Food Store. Apparently if you apply a couple of drops on the bottom of your feet before you go to bed it will suppress a cough all night. One woman on Pinterest swears by it as she has seven kids and they were all sick with a cold and a cough and then her HB came down with it as well. She tried the Eucalyptus Oil drops on all her kids feet including her HB. She was amazed how it calmed everyone down to get a good nights sleep without coughing. I am going to try it when we get a cold or a cough just to check it out. I always find a hot bath with Epsom Salts in it draws out toxins and bad stuff like that. Then I take a shower after that and it really helps. Sending that "Germ Killing Fairy" again to your house. Keep warm and take good care.

I googled Albino raccoons Joce. That's very cool. And giggle.....I forgot to tell Karen what CRAFT meant....there's no hope left for me I swear. :) Fratelli is a lovely restaurant. It was owned by two brothers and one of them just passed away recently at a young age....46? Don't quote me. I'm feeling okay thanks, with the exception of when I cough...I have a real sore spot on my left side. So annoying. Did you drive today? That'd be so good for you to feel mobile again and get to go peruse Foodsmith's and such. Your dinners both last night and this evening sound excellent. Cool on the Eucalyptus oil. Let me know if it works to suppress a cough. I could use that right about now. :)
We have the exact same problem with our Internet Provider Shona. We don't get the rate of speed they charge us for. So sorry to hear you've all succumbed to the cold.
We had yummy Dim Sum. Jim and Benjamin tried Beef tripe for the very first time. I passed on it thank you very much. But we had a feast of other tasty things. We've been bringing Benjamin to this particular Restaurant for Dim Sum since he was just a little gaffer and there are two of the serving staff that have worked there all this time. Benjamin spoke to them in Chinese and they were all over him like a dirty shirt. What a laugh. We've never had that much attention ever before and they were very taken with him. Such a hoot. Had a fun shop in Westboro. Bought some Garlic Cilantro infused Balsamic vinegar at Emulisfy and then we got some Ravioli and some Fazzoletti from Parma Ravioli as well as two different sauces. They have two types of heart shaped raviolis made up for Valentine's Day. One is stuffed with lobster and one with cheese. They were adorable.
Heading out for a Hot Tub.

No I drove yesterday to the hairdresser and to Foodsmiths, Janet. It was nice to get out and drive again. However, it is good I have a thick down coat to stop feeling the seat belt a bit more on my chest. If it was summer, it would be ouch! or I might have to put a pillow on it to drive or something? I still felt pains in my arms steering, so i will take it in wee bits. LOL Too funny about the servers and him speaking Chinese:) Den just came in from the dentist and I told him about it and he had a very hearty laugh about it:) We are so proud of Ben too, you know:) I am glad you are going back to the doctor tomorrow. Make sure you mention that sore spot to him. The Hot Tub should be especially good for you today. Do your lungs hurt breathing in cold air at all? I used to hate that when I pneumonia it was a killer, and I always seemed to have in the coldest Winters! Your Italian style dinner with fresh made is going to be very YUMMY!

I'm tickled to hear you're back driving Joce. That shows excellent progress! :) Just like with anything I suspect that the more you drive the easier it will feel on your muscles, bones, etc. No, my lungs aren't bothered with the cold air thankfully. At night time when I am laying down for a length of time my breathing gets very cotton-batton-y. :) But improves once I'm up. As I said, the main annoyance is the pain when I cough.
Jim is cutting up some kindling to build me a fire and Benj is dipping into the leftover turkey and broccoli casserole from the other night. My fridge is so full! :)

I put the raccoon's picture on FB. He has a few followers around the area who have spotted him out and about. He is full grown, has hung around for at least 2 years, maybe 3. I feel attached to the dude since he is so different. Wayne's buddy said if he caught the pretty, solid gray one he is hanging out with he would be glad to release it, also. He brought the live trap to the door so I could see him. Poor thing growled two or three times, but is not aggressive like some. I think he was just happy to get out and away. I'm sure we will see him again.

Good to hear from you, Shona. Neat that you can drive a bit, Joce! Don't overdo. Echinacea & honey with cinnamon is a good natural cough medicine. Didn't know about euchalyptus (? sp) on the feet but will have to try. So cool about the waiters and Benjamin speaking Chinese to them, Janet!

Must go type up fire department notes. Meeting is this coming Monday. See you.

    Hey everyone,
They are calling for another foot of snow for Saturday. Ugh. Work is so stressful. Many of my properties are suffering severe damage from the weight of the snow and the ice dams, we have had a few ceilings collapse. Not fun. My boss says if we get another blizzard he is going to just shut down the office and put a white flag out front. We have over 100 units with water leaks. They bought us lunch from this Italian resteraunt today and when we said thanks. Rick said no thanks for not quitting (it's that bad). He said when he comes in he is surprised we all showed up. (Lol all three of us)
We had sandwiches for dinner. My lunch was much better. Turkey Toscana, turkey fresh mozerella, roasted red peppers, carmalized onions and pesto oil on focaccia.

Lunch does sound good, Laurie. We are having roast turkey breast and mashed potatoes tonight but yours sounds better. LOL. We may get some snow / ice Monday and Tuesday so don't know how the roads are going to be. It doesn't take much to close things down here. Two inches of snow and the schools close. When we lived in Springfield, Mass. the winter was certainly not what we have here.

I managed to get both recipes posted. Between the internet and interruptions it took a while. Have a good evening, everyone.

    Tina?

My grandma use to give us the eucalyptus oil Joce! She would put some on our feet than put on socks, and a few drops on a cloth and tuck it in our pillow case :)
I made some chicken noodle soup for dinner. I had some chicken tenders in the freezer and cut those up for the soup. That's helped a bit.
It seems most of the Eastern N.America is getting hammered by the cold weather! Stay warm and safe everyone!
