Thunderstorms Thursday??

  • mommyluvs2cook 6 years ago
Morning all! Well, after all the fuss over Tropical Storm Cindy, and it looks like she shifted and we are getting only the outer edge. No complaining from me though! Caiden's camp was not cancelled last night, it just drizzled, and it's still drizzling this morning. Not sure if swim lessons will be cancelled, but we'll see! I think they will still have it in the rain as long as there is no thunder or lightning. Fine by me!

We had Pizza Stuffed Chicken and it was so good!! Served it alongside steamed green beans and what Briauna calls "fancy tomatoes" which are just tomatoes with salt and pepper lol. We have a ton from our garden, so we are having them with pretty much every meal :) The garden is STILL spitting out quite a few tomatoes so I am finally declaring a great garden season for the first time in about 3 or 4 years! YAY!

Pulling out some ground beef for dinner, I'm thinking tacos/tostadas/salad. Everyone can choose which one they want, I'll just make the taco meat :) May make some Spanish rice and refried beans to go with. Wishing everyone a great Thursday!!

Well, I'm glad Cindy changed her mind as it were Michelle. :) LOL! Love the swimming lessons pics. There's something about summer and water isn't there! Saw your review of the Pizza stuffed Chicken in IMI11. It looks really good. LOL @ fancy tomatoes. SOOOOO envy you having fresh ones from the garden. My absolute favourite food. That's great you had such a good gardening season.

I just woke up so haven't put any thought into dinner plans yet. My freezer is looking pretty empty but I figure I'll wait to refill it until we are back from our trip to go visit my Mom.

It's a GORGEOUS morning out. Today is "Work outside Day". First thing on the agenda is lawn mowing and then maybe I'll finally get around to washing some windows. There's pollen on the screens too so even though we washed the screens before putting them up this spring I need to re-do them.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Woke up to bright sunny skies and the lawn crew cutting the grass before the possibility of, as always, rain later in the day.

That's great to hear Cindy won't be giving you trouble Michelle. I hope she fizzles out for the everyone else too. Cute pictures! The recipe you linked looks great and too fabulous photo. I love "fancy" tomatoes. It's how we eat them here too except with a little fresh chopped basil. Yum on the tacos.

Hope you get all the outside work done today Janet or at least most of it. Bummer on all the restaurants being closed yesterday. The Mongolian one sounded good though.
The Oven Fried Chicken recipe looks good too. I would like it cold the next day too, ideal picnic food.

Holy Batman Shona on your storm. You sure have had your share of them. Glad there has been no significant damage to your home or things. Good news that your blood work and tests came back normal. It's good to rule things out. Ouch on the pinched nerve and fatty tumor. Are there natural ways to reduce the fatty tumor?

I guess you "hit the road" Karen. Travel safe and check in when you can. Hope Wayne's friend's dog will be ok, perhaps she should see the vet.

Enjoy your in-laws 50th Laurie. Poor Joy with storms, I'm so thankful they don't bother LD in the least. All other dogs that I've had though were terrified of them too. Hoping you are able to resolve something soon with your foot. Will stink if you have to have surgery but it may be the best thing in the long run.

It's been hot and humid here too Kimmer and all the rain surely isn't helping. My fingers and toes are crossed for nothing significant passing thru as I'm just not in the mood. Do you buy the French Bread pizzas or make them yourself. I like them!

Good morning all. Yes, it's morning not afternoon, lol. Starting my work day a bit later than usual so thought I'd pop in while eating breakfast. Actually, that's why I'm starting the day later. Just made biscuits and gravy for hubs, Cayce and I. Had the craziest dream last night that I was eating that. So this morning I woke up and it was like, ok, please be some ground sausage in the freezer, just got to have biscuits and gravy this morning, lol! Alas, there was sausage!!! It's really hitting the spot right now.

Glad Cindy is missing you Michelle. Enjoy your outdoor day Janet. Not sure what's for dinner. Will be so full from breakfast for quite awhile. Thinking tacos. Regular beef ones. Last couple times we had chicken so time for some beef.

    Hope all enjoy this day!

I made Sloppy Joes with the ground beef I had yesterday. I just didn't know what else to make with them without having to go to the store.

This mornings smoothie is strawberries, blueberries, a few raspberries for "zing", kale, and a dollop of plain Greek yogurt. It's delicious!

I'll probably make a salad for dinner as I have an abundance of greens and such and Bella won't eat them quick enough ... I'll add some tuna for protein.

LD and I will visit DH this afternoon and we will just stay in for the afternoon. Going to again hire another company for speech therapy and they should be on in the next day or two. DH does not like his prior therapist and when she showed up Monday he threw her out after about 15 minutes. I know she gets on his nerves and I've talked with her about things that irritate him but she doesn't listen and he is not like that with anyone else so ... time for someone else.

Hi Marie!! Hi Joce!! Hi Tina!!

Hi Janet! LOL, it looks like you have made Pizza Stuffed Chicken, your picture and review are there :P :P :P Yup, there is just something about the freshness of tomatoes from the garden that you can't beat, even with the most expensive and organic one's from the store! Good luck with your yard work and cleaning windows (UGH)!

Morning Linda! Next time I do "fancy" tomatoes, I'm going the extra step with some chopped basil and a drizzle of balsamic :) I have just been trying to get dinner on the table faster than I can get outside to pick some basil leaves lol.

SP Linda, seems to be a lot of that here lately, lol. I do both with the french bread pizzas. Sometimes it's a family meal with a salad and that's when I make them myself. But I usually always keep some frozen ones (Stoufers) for nights when we are having something Benny doesn't care for. And they are handy for a quick lunch. Enjoy your afternoon and good luck with the speech therapist.

    Just read back to yesterday:
Shona, that's great you don't have a hernia but ugh on the fatty tumor, hope it doesn't give you too many problems, you really just aren't having the best of luck lately :(

Have a nice trip Karen! Safe travels :)

Too bad on your foot Laurie, hopefully you can figure out what it is and get surgery or whatever you need fast, so you can get back on your feet and catch up with your friends.

    Oh wow, LOTS of SP's!!
Yum on sausage gravy and biscuits Kimmer :)

Still envy your smoothies Linda, I really need to get my almond milk made or just fork over the money for expensive store bought :\ Yup, sounds like it's time for another therapist for DH, especially if she doesn't want to listen to you about his likes and dislikes.

We are going to leave for swim lessons a little early and try and find some board shorts for Bri and I. In Costa Rica we will be in our bathing suit A LOT, there are supposed to be hot springs everywhere, so I think they will be perfect so I'm not running around every where with my butt hanging out. I have 2 cover ups, but they are both dresses, so if we hike and then swim or ride ATV's then swim, board shorts will be better :)

Yes, lots of SPs ... I forget what specifically the abbreviation spells out but I caught on to what it means :)

Michelle, have you thought about ordering the Almond Milk you like and having it delivered. Example: http://www.vitadigest.com/groc-852909003299.html
A splash of balsamic on the "fancy" tomatoes sounds great!! Board shorts are great! You may even want to think about swim shirts if you are concerned about too much sun exposure. I use my swim shirt here in the summer and love it. I shop on-line for lots of things. Lands End is a good site for swim stuff. I find too that men's/boys swim trunks make great summer shorts for women/girls, they are light weight, cool, dry quickly if wet, and you can find great designs. I cut the "underwear" out and "ta-dah"!

Yum on the biscuits and gravy Kimmer. I love S.O.S. and haven't made it in a long time. Will have to look for the dried chipped beef next time at the store.

    Hi Everyone!
I had the MRI and my follow up appointment is the 6th of July. I am about 90% sure I am having the surgery. I have tried everything else so I am just going for it. The surgery she does (she is an ankle, foot specialist) is non invasive. They make a small incision on the upper calf and release the fascia muscle from there. 2 weeks in the boot and then PT. I would like it done soon, while Rachel's home so she can drive me to and from work for those two weeks in the boot.
I used to give blood often (I have a rarer blood type) Drink lots of fluids so its easier to find the vein. Also if you tend to have low iron eat some raisins. After I got turned away a few times they told me that. Don't drink anything hot right before because it raises your temperature and they won't let you give.
I have no idea what I am going to make for dinner.
I just took a trek to BJs to get a case of spring water, and a case of seltzer along with file folders for the office. Now I have to trek it up the stairs. Bad planning on my part since the guys are away at a conference. but i was feeling the need to get out of the office lol and lunch time is when they give out the samples :)

Hi Michelle, awesome on the garden and tomato growing doing well this year! I'm glad the storm is skipping by you! Yum on taco's!

Hi Janet, good luck with outside chores today!

Hi Linda, I hope your sloppy Joes turned out well! I've heard the tumors can shrink if you take turmeric, but it won't go away 100% without surgery. I'm ok with taking turmeric but it can make you bloated and constipated so I might start with a small daily dose and see how it goes. I hope your DH finds a good therapist he likes and can get along with!

Hi Kimmer! Lol at the food dream! I have them alllll the time ;) You guys have me craving beef taco's now!

Hi Marie or should I say FSW!! LOl....I'd be FSW too in that heat! Take care and hope the cooler weather blows your way soon :)

Hi Joce, sorry you haven't been sleeping, is it your back keeping you up? My Mom swears by drinking Sleepy Time Tea before bed. I think it's a Celestial brand tea? I hope you get some rest soon. :)

Hi Laurie, it sounds like a good plan to go for the surgery! Especially if you can get it done in the summer when Rachel is home. I didn't know that about the raisins, good info! I'm always turned away because of anemia. I'm a universal donor so I'd love to be able to donate!

I just got back from Physio, we're working on lifting weights now for my neck/shoulder/upper back. As well as core strengthening. On Monday I will go in for a lower back assessment and work on the nerves going down my legs. Core strengthening will help for that too.
It's been raining all day, mostly a light drizzle with a bit of wind. So cleaning the yard from the storm is on hold. My neighbour across the way has been sawing at his tree and it's blocking part of the road still. The neighbour beside him is getting their roof tiles replaced that flew off in the storm. Many people in the city are still without power, they expect it might take another 3 days to restore everything as several electrical poles are down. Sophia is home sick, sore throat, phlegmy cough, upset stomach. No fever so I won't rush her to the doctor unless she gets worse over the next couple of days. Hopefully it's just a virus and will pass.(pleeease do not pass it to your brother as he has exams all next week!!)
I was suppose to go the store but since Sophia is home I just ordered some grocery's for Pete to pick up. Dinner will probably be chicken noodle soup as I have some leftover chicken.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone!

    Quick hi.
We are in Illinois. Wayne is taking a short nap so he can stay awake while driving!

Fritz threw up an hour from home. I have get another throw for him if can't wash out the one he used in the truck.

Traffic is a bit heavy. Glad when we reach our overnight stop.

He is awake and ready to drive on .... see you later.

The surgery doesn't sound that bad Laurie. Probably the worse part of it will be wearing the boot and 2 weeks doesn't sound bad either, better than the traditional 6 weeks. Thanks for the blood donation tips.

I'm done with the heat and the rain Marie and we are not even a month into "season". Today was a nice dry day ... hot but at least dry.

Hope Sophia feels better Shona and doesn't pass what's ailing her onto Colter. Chicken noodle soup sounds good! I have some chicken in the freezer I should do up for a small batch.

Poor Fritz and his car sickness Karen. Hope he is able to settle down enough and he doesn't get sick again. Be careful out there.

Visit with DH was nice today. We worked on speech stuff for about 2 hours and his new company is on board and will come out tomorrow to do the evaluation and then set the schedule. I brought LD with me and they both were very happy! Need to make myself something to eat. Will be making a nice tossed salad with whatever I have in the fridge and will add some tuna for protein.

Wow that was a busy day! I got 3/4's of the lawns mowed, washed the windows at the front of the house and wiped down the screens, did a bit of pruning, made a batch of watermelon juice, and prepped dinner. I will sleep well tonight.

Wish I woke up to a lawn crew cutting my grass Linda! LOL! Hope you managed to get the new speech therapist hired. SP is the acronym for Simultaneous posting. :) As Laurie says, drink lots of fluids in the morning before you go give blood as it makes it a lot easier for them to find a vein. I don't look at the nurse when she's putting the needle in and you might not want to look at your blood draining out either if you're at all squeamish. I really don't mind the process at all and I HATE needles. Don't do like me and try turn pages of a book while you're supposed to be holding the cotton ball on the entry point and keep your arm straight. :)

LOL that you had a dream about gravy and biscuits Kimmer. That's hilarious.

How awesome at all the hot springs in Costa Rica Michelle. I so hope you get good internet there and I can follow along with your trip on FB! ROFL that I made the pizza chicken before. Indeed I peeked back further down and there I am. I do remember it now I read my review. LOLOL. Me and my bad memory.

Hi FSW! Great to see you in fine form. :)

Sorry to hear you haven't slept well Joce. I hate that. :( Your dinner for this evening sounds amazing. Sending Sand Man vibes your way. :)

I had no clue that raisins had iron in them Laurie. Very cool. The surgery doesn't sound too bad so that's great.

Shona, so sorry to hear Sophia is sick again!!!! It feels like she just got better from the last time!

Hi Bren! Good luck at Annie's appointment. Let us know how it goes!

Poor Fritz Karen. Hopefully there'll be big sinks or a laundromat when you pull over at an RV park so you can wash his blanket out.

Jim requested rotisserie chicken and I have some Chalet sauce up in the freezer that I'm thawing to go with it. Will bake a potato to share and steam some spinach on the side.

We were at the Vet's for over an hour. The good news is that it was just her annal glands and not Furunculosis. Our last dog had this and it's next to impossible to treat. The Vet will call tomorrow with a date for surgery.

I've been really busy with work and family. My sister was here for a few days, the sister that lost her husband last October, and we had a nice visit. I am really looking forward to some down time. Heading to the cottage for the weekend and hope and pray that it's quiet.

Janet, you are correct about the number of stores that sell sofa's and we just have to set some time aside to go shopping.

    Night all.

Wow, you did get a lot done Janet.

DH's new speech therapist is in the works and will start next week. They offered to come out Saturday to start but we can wait till Monday or Tuesday and will probably do 3x week.

That's good news about Annie Bren. LD's "a" glands have been very active lately and at least I am able to express them myself from the outside. Not that I enjoy it but gotta do what you gotta do as they say. Hoping things settle down for you soon.

Glad it went well at the Vet's Bren. Nice you had a good visit with your sister. Down time is very important, just like a good sleep and a good laugh. :)

Everyone bleeds at a different speed Linda but for the most part it only takes 10-15 minutes. Jim is always faster than me. :) They usually have a TV set up so you can watch something mindless to help the time go by. And then you get juice and cookies!!!! :)

Hello all. Just a quick one here as I am pooped and will actually be heading to bed soon. Will read back tomorrow. I, too, have not slept well the last couple of nights. First night, stayed up to late watching tv which keeps my brain activated but hubs HAS to watch tv in bed. Generally I can tune it out but got too interested in what he was watching, lol. Last night, kept hearing this chirping sound. Well duh, when I got up to get a drink of water I realized it was the smoke detector in the kitchen. Could have sworn I had changed that battery just a bit ago. Always try to change them with time changes as they recommend. But anyway, had to climb up on the stool and get the battery out so it would shut up! So get back to bed and hubs starts snoring. Great............. Kicked him.........he moved and was quiet. Finally start to dose off when Chloe decides it's snuggle and suckle time. She was so young when we got her that she thinks of me as her momma and likes to suckle my night gown under my neck at night. Most times it's not a problem and I rather enjoy it.........but not at 3:00am! Plus now she has adult claws and it can get a bit painful! Finally did get some sleep and that's when I was dreaming about eating biscuits and gravy, lol!

Hoping all a Sleep Sweet tonight............as always.....................

Just a quick hi. We are at the overnight RV park. Neighbors playing horrid music but can't hear it with the AC running.

Fritz is a bit better, he drank water we brought from home, after sniffing it thoroughly. No interest in food but we will give him a little canned shortly. Hope he eats some.

    Got to go. 4G only.

    Bye for now,.
