Thursday Thunder

We are waiting to see how the weather develops. The forecast now includes thunderstorms today. Ice accumulation is now supposed to be a tenth of an inch here and half an inch at daughter's. Who knows the final result. They change it every hour, or st least that is the way it seems. Guess it depends on the track. Temps are dropping by thirty degrees (F) to the upper thirties, then cooling tonight.

Wayne is still sleeping, but when 7:00 comes around I am usually ready to get out of bed. Ha! Where is the late morning person I used to be?

The horrible winds have died down a bit, hope they stay that way. We were going to change out game camera cards but the high winds made the forest a bit too iffy, have no desire to get clunked in the head by falling branches.

    Have a good day!

Morning Karen! It's all misty/foggy at our place. Very wet! Roads close by are black ice but on the whole things are melting. Glad your bad winds have calmed down.

Jim and I are probably going to go out for lunch today somewhere but haven't totally ironed out plans yet. My Bean with Bacon soup smells good. Need to puree it and do a taste test. I did end up adding an extra 1/2 cup of water since I added double the amount of carrots and celery but I think I'll need more. House smelled good even at 4 a.m. though. :) Not sure about what to make for dinner either. Looks like I'm quite indecisive this morning. LOLOLOL.

Michelle, I saw this recipe and thought of you. Gluten free, almond flour.....:) I thought it looked pretty yummy.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Morning! Wow on your weather Karen. Here it is 67 degrees and sunny. Probably going to get hotter as the day goes on. I really should open up the doors and windows and enjoy the cool until then.

Yum on Bean and Bacon soup Janet, I love that stuff!! I pinned that cake recipe, always on the lookout for gluten free! I actually just made a GF coffee cake type bread for Caiden to have along side eggs, trying to keep diverse options so he doesn’t get bored with it. Have a good time at lunch!

I was going to wash the truck today, but it is just too big of a job for one person and I don’t even want to dread it anymore, so I am going to do it tomorrow when Michael is off work so he can at least get all the places I can’t reach and do the bed of the truck and dry. With 2 people it goes SO much faster. Decided to clean out some closets instead! From the outside my house is spotless, but you open up the closets and everything comes tumbling out lol. We just have too much stuff, so it is time to get rid of some of it! Our game closet is the worst and I know that most are missing a lot of pieces so in the trash probably over half of them will go. The rest need to just be tidied up some. Bri’s is probably the second worst. She is a good kid, but she is not known for being clean for sure. Doesn’t help that she has 4 stinky rats living with her :P Dinner is undetermined. Something quick and easy though, have a busy evening! Wishing everyone a great day!!

Morning Michelle! Good idea to push the washing of the truck 'til tomorrow when you have a helping hand. Picture for a moment having four inches of snow covering the top of it and it's against the law to not brush it off before you go out on the roads!!!! You'd need a BIG snow brush for sure! Good luck on the closet clean.

    The
Slow Cooker Bean And Bacon Soup
turned out very nicely despite my boo boo. I did tweak it abit. I'll write it up in IMI11 later. Looks like I'd only added it to the Soup Thread previously.

    We've decided on
    Korean Chicken Lettuce Wraps
for dinner this evening. I just have to pickle some carrots before we head out.

Glad the soup turned out Janet.

Hi Michelle. Yes, it is a better idea to enlist husbandly help. My house is never spotless and I live with a keeper who never likes to toss anything.

A.C. and Geezer just had a face off so Wayne brought A.C. inside....not a happy camper. Two alpha cats who don't get along.

    Got to go. Back later.

Your weather doesn't sound like it is going to be very good, Karen. I hope you can stay warm and cozy and stay at home. Ugh! I hate it when my internet is interrupted!

Enjoy your lunch out, Janet, wherever you decide to go.

A good idea to get Michael to help you clean the truck, Michelle. Good luck cleaning out the closets today.
I had to put some sand and salt down on our laneway yesterday before I went out, making sure I wouldn't slip and fall. Now the laneway is nice and clear. Poor Den was out cleaning the laneway and cars off at 5:00 AM. before he took a shower and headed off to work. I found the wind quite nippy yesterday. The grocery stores were so packed it seemed like Christmas or something? It was probably b/c everyone was thinking like me that the weather was clear and better to be out in yesterday. We ended out having Garlic Studded Blade Pork Roast for dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy and steamed green beans. We will have a repeat of that tonight, minus the green beans. I should go and make some lunch. I will probably have a ham and tomato sandwich.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

Hi Joce! You should see our walkway! Jim put down what traction aid we had this morning but there wasn't enough to do the entire length between the house and the garage! We bought more at Home Hardware this afternoon but you could literally skate on our laneway right now. :) I think people are being aware of the weather and running out when it's okay to stock up so they don't have to go out when it's bad. Your Garlic studded pork roast meal sounds divine.

We had a fun afternoon. I got the chicken marinated for the Lettuce wraps and made the pickled carrots before I went. Also divvied up my Bean and Bacon soup into jars so I could put some down in the freezer.

We went to Sobey's for a few things, the Hardware store and then Costco. Only spent $59 at Costco so showed great control. :)

Then we went for lunch at The Cheshire Cat in Carp
    http://www.cheshirecatpub.com/menu.html
I ordered the appetizer sausage rolls (made with local elk and tourtiere spices) and a side salad and Jim had Naan flatbread with pulled duck and a blueberry wine reduction and a side salad. His looked bigger and better but mine actually had the better flavour. :) It was very lovely and so nice to cuddle in by their woodstove. The atmosphere is a biggy there.

Also stopped in to this business called "Just Basements" as we are tossing around the idea of finishing the basement but we're in no rush. We're NEVER down there. The walls are finished but the ceiling is not nor the floor. At present we have a nice pool table in the main room and a dart board, assorted furniture that we've banished from upstairs over the years. There's also our treadmill and Jim's recumbent exercise bike and a desk. Anyway....we looked around and chatted to the woman there but we're not really serious at this point and I think Jim might want to do the work himself anyway, as opposed to hiring a firm to do it.

Good evening all. Was a very pleasant day here weather wise. Highs will be in the upper 70's thru the weekend. I will send some warm breezes to all of you. Growing up in Michigan our basements were always finished and an extension of the home. Would be very cool and comfy in the summertime.

Boys have softball tonight to just me and hubs for dinner. They don't like to eat a meal before they play, understandably. So just made them a plate of nacho chips, salsa & cheese. Good enough. Making cheeseburgers and potato salad for hubs and I. Woke up thinking about potato salad this morning for whatever reason lol, so decided to make a small batch. Just enough for dinner.

    Enjoy your evening!
