Thursday's Tastiness!

    Good Morning Everyone!

We may get a wee spot of rain this afternoon, which we could certainly use, but Jim and I also want to get the lawn mowed for the first time this spring, and rain would put a damper on that plan.

Going to go to McD's for breakfast this morning and then a big shop at the Garden centres. I'm hoping to plant the rest of my outdoor planters and barrels this afternoon.

Heard about Bresaola this morning on a foodie site. Sort of like the beef version of prosciutto. Anyone had it before? I'm going to keep a look out to see if I can buy some to try.

    Going to make
    Chicken A La King
for dinner this evening. I've got lots of leftover chicken frozen that I can use.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Good Morning!

I see you posted your Tangled Thai Salad recipe Janet! Next trip to the store I have my list of things I need to get to make it. It looks FANTASTIC! Thanks for taking the time to write it up.
The Chix A La King recipe looks good. Sorta like a pot pie filling. Has me thinking for the pot pie filling I have frozen ...

We were woken at 2:00 a.m. this morning with a fierce thunderstorm and heavy rain that lasted about an hour till it was far enough away that we were able to fall back asleep.

Have Kenpo later this afternoon and will stop at the diner after for something to eat. I'm in the mood for their roasted turkey platter.

Not much else happening here. Hoping everyone has a fantastic day!

Goodmorning, Janet. I hope we do get some rain we sure could use some. I always find it easier to pull dandelions out with my Fiskars weed puller thingy after it rains. Have fun at the garden centres. I love going to them. I think I saw Bresaola at Foodsmith's the other day and I asked about it. She said to treat it just like prosciutto. I didn't buy it I was just interested about what it was. I love your recipe for Chicken A La King and I haven't made it in quite awhile. I should make it very soon.
I am waiting on our plumber to come and install a couple of outside taps. They will come in handy for a couple of things. The most important thing is hooking them up to the pressure washer. Lol I hate waiting! We are having pizza for dinner tonight which is easy peasy. Just take it out of the freezer.
Hoping everyone has a good day!

    Hello!!
I'm hoping to make some kind of Butter chicken tonight. Sophia tried it at school for their cultural experience. She said it was plain orange sauce--probably smooth with no chunks of tomato's or cilantro etc...;) She also tried mangoes and loved them, so I'll pick some up today.
Still working on the kitchen and outside, busy, busy! Thankfully it's a 4 day weekend for the kids. We finally got rain!!! And it cooled down a bit, so I guess it went from Summer back to Spring, thank goodness! Every time we were suppose to get rain it evaporated before hitting the ground, so this was much needed! We have had fires all around us, the air quality poor and I could barely breathe last weekend. The closest fire was 2 km's away. Hopefully we will get more rain over the next few days.

I haven't had Bresaola before, I've had all beef salumi, but I prefer the traditional pork. That Thai salad is right up my alley, thanks for posting it Janet! :)

    Enjoy Kenpo Linda! :)

Hi Joce! I should look into the weed puller thingy. I have so many dandelions I have given up pulling them! If I use chemicals then I go around picking off all the flowers so I don't kill the bees. Pete saw me watering the dandelions and thought I was nuts, lol! I said I'm keeping them for the bees! ( there was actually plants behind them, but you can't see them ;) I have about 250 feet of dandelions in a row, and another 125 feet on the other side of the house, too many. Enjoy your pizza!

I'd better run to the store, so much to do!
Have a great day everyone :)

Morning! Janet, yes the rain can be annoying sometimes even if it’s needed. I still need to get out in the garden but right now it is pretty dark and not promising. I will check the weather in a minute to get an idea at least. I’ve never heard of Bresaola before, sounds interesting, and I think I’d love it :) Yum on your dinner!

Goodness on your rain last night Linda! Is it raining all over the world? LOL! Have a good time at Kenpo!

Hi Joce! I find it easier to pull weeds as well the day after rain. But it seems like the day after will never get here for us haha :) Is the tool you used a little hand held one? Pizza out of the freezer sounds super easy!

Well dinner plans last night ended up changing. Got a call from my inlaws who got into town from New Mexico a day earlier than we expected and was wanting us to meet them at Nobi for dinner. So we did and had a blast! My pregnant SIL (YAY, finally going to be an Aunt!) revealed she is having a girl, so it was really a great celebration!

Well, my muscles need a break today from the gym, I am super sore all over. Here in a bit, if it doesn’t rain, I am going to get out into the garden. First I need to make some lunch though, I’m starving! Dinner will finally be those beef dips lol. Have a great day everyone!

Sp, Shona! It's always fun to find out when kids try something new and love it :) Caiden has always sworn up and down that he hates pineapple. Last weekend they were selling the cups of assorted fruit at the ball field and I bought one. I put a piece of pineapple on my fork and told him it was apple and he popped it in his mouth not paying attention and he loved it lol. Congrats on the rain, It just started thundering, so I guess it will be raining here soon.

Hope you like the Tangled Thai salad Linda. I like thunder storms. Hope you had fun at Kenpo class. The roasted turkey platter at the Diner sounds wonderful.

We didn't end up getting any rain at all Joce, you? A chance of a shower forecast for this evening which I'd love and so would all the new plants that I just put in. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and gorgeous which is nice since we're having company. Cool on Foodsmith's carrying Bresaola. If I don't find it before my next trip to Perth I'll know where to look. Nice on the new outside taps. They are indeed handy.

Let me know how your Butter chicken turns out Shona. I LOVE butter chicken and I love mangoes too. Wow on the fires being so close to you. STAY SAFE!

Sounds like you had an excellent evening last night Michelle. Congrats on becoming an Aunt. :)

My dandelion weeder is very similar to yours Joce but different. I'll have to go look at the brand name of mine.

Was in town for quite awhile today. Brekkie was good. Then went to two garden centres and got enough plants to fill all my planters and urns. Got them all planted this afternoon in addition to three new perennials.

Grabbed some groceries for tomorrow night's dinner. I want to make Keni's tequila asparagus recipe as a side but Sobey's wanted $4.99/lb. for asparagus. I swear it's cheaper in the dead of winter and here it is asparagus season right now??? Two med. sized bunches came to $14.25. I put them back. We then drove all the way to Costco and they had big bunches for $5.99 that was enough to serve 4 so I went with that. You really have to shop wisely or you can get taken.

Jim mowed a ton of the lawn and he's still out doing some raking. The yard is taking shape.

My dandelion weeder is called a lawn claw but I can't see it on the net anymore. Can't remember where I got it either. :)

    Hi everyone.
Wow on getting lucky kids to eat, Shona and Michelle. My GS has food/texture issues and is also picky. If he would eat he would grow!
Janet and Joce, my flower beds need a good raking/hoing or weeds will take over. Forgot to get more rhubarb so still must do that.
No rain or storms here, Linda, but cloudy and damp today. Have been doing laundry most of the day. Such fun.

Wayne tripped over a rock in the lane while walking Fritz. No big injuries, just scrapes. Otherwise it has been a quiet day. I did make a blackberry crisp that as really good after making a few changes to the recipe. Used last year's wild ones from our woods.

Oven is dinging so must go pull the burgers for supper. Ha e a good day.

Glad Wayne's okay Karen. That blackberry crispy would certainly make him feel better. It sounds delicious. Yum on burgers too.
