Good Morning Everybody. I'm heading back to the Flower Shop today to give my girlfriend a hand. Looking forward to it.
No clue what we'll have for dinner.
Freezing rain is forecast on and off all day which I'm very much dreading driving in. :(
    Wishing everyone a great day.

Good for you Janet, on helping out a friend. I'm sure today will be full of delightful scents and sights. LOL on the pictures. You can drive...yes, you can.

We are fogged in. Dense thick fog, it looks cold but it isn't. Temp is 54F.

Our burgers were so yummy last night. Cheddar, bacon and scallion are great mixed into the burger meat. I made a harissa mayo for my topping and it was HOT. The Family Circle magazine had a kale and harissa appetizer that I'm quite sure no one in the house would eat. It might make my kale aversion more palatable. I'm trying to get on the kale bandwagon.

We have an appliance repairman coming to help with the icemaker. My freezer is full of icicles and frozen corn chunks. And water pours out of the door dispenser. I nearly killed myself slipping in the water. And the garage door opener slipped off the track again, so we have a call into Precision Garage door. The fellow to help with the broken door screen is coming Wednesday. I'm getting all these little annoying chores taken care of, so the house shows better. The ceiling painting is going to be on Fred and Olivia's shoulders. The front yard has been spruced up for curb appeal. Just a few more plants for the wall and that is done.

Dinner tonight is a special treat. Fred went to Bayway Butcher and we have some small filet mignon steaks, double stuffed potatoes, and crab stuffed mushrooms. I'm making some caprese salad with tiny mozzarella balls, cherry tomatoes, basil and spinach. Fred asked Barry, the butcher, the price of a prime rib, four ribs and he said it would be around $35.00. I'm calling to make sure because it looks like Fred wrote down $135.00 dollars.

Have a great day, m'friends. Joce, sending you healing thoughts.

    Hi all!

Fire Dept. meeting went fairly well. I was surprised two board members agreed to run again. So if they file and NO ONE else does, we will not have to fund an election because the required number of candidates signed up. If more than that, we fund our share of the election. It is expensive and this poor little F.D. can't afford it.

Be careful Janet. I would not be out in ice or freezing rain at all. I'm a big super chicken! We are going to Silver Dollar City (if the weather cooperates) one day this week .

Hmmm. $135 and $35 do seem a ways apart - LOL. Agree it is best to be certain. Your house sounds like it is becoming more seller-buyer-ready. Good luck getting it in order!

It is 33F outside and very windy. Ugh! At least there is no snow or ice. The weather forecast calls for light snow either tomorrow or early Thursday or Friday --- but they keep changing it. So it goes from clear to partly cloudy to sprinkles to light rain to light snow to mix to who knows what else! Guess we will find out sooner or later. In MO if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes.

Best go do something productive. See you later.

Morning! Have a good day at the flower shop Janet and PLEEAASSE drive safe!

Your kale aversion sounds like my goat cheese aversion. I WANT to like the stuff so bad lol! I do try it every once in a while to see if my palate for it has changed, and it never does :) Wow you are getting a lot of stuff taken care of, good for you! Yum on your feast tonight...I'm drooling. Lol, yes $135.00 is a big difference from $35.00. You should call.

Our weather people can never get our forecast right either Karen. The other day we had flood warnings all over the T.V. All day. It sprinkled :) We were supposed to get a major cold from last night and right now it's 70 degrees. I don't even like to check the weather anymore, I'll just open my door and step outside to figure it out lol!

I need to finish up getting Christmas gifts today, mainly just for my parents and Michaels parents. The hardest part about Christmas is trying to figure out what to get everyone. This year I got it figured out pretty quick, except for Michael's Step Dad. I never know what to get him. He has everything! I'll have Michael figure it out. Bri has fittings for the play right after school until I don't know when. I'm sure it will be quick, but I am doing Crock Pot just in case. Decided on these Crock Pot Maple Country Ribs along with asparagus and maybe some zucchini noodles :) Have a good day everyone!

I had a really good day. It's so much fun at the flower store and I totally enjoy helping out. (I do get paid....:)...which is very nice and I set it aside for strictly lighthearted, enjoyable purchases :). Did I tell you about the "Grinch Tree" that my girlfriend has been making? It's a big hit and she's sold a ton of them. I'll put a pic of one in my avatar. I got her to do one up for me today actually to give to my hairdresser as I have an appointment with her Thursday. Also, a lady that used to be the cashier for quite a few years at the Hardware store I used to manage, dropped in to see me. Hadn't seen her since I the day I retired. She looks great and we're going to get together for lunch in January.
I had to scrape the car windows before heading home and the freezing rain started up on my way but I made it home safely and just before the pavement got treacherous. Even ran into a bit of fog too.
Your burgers last night sounded wonderful Tina and I sure could go for one now. Don't feel like making dinner. Jim's lit a fire and I would be fine just with a little plate of nibblees. I picked up some fresh pasta and sauce so will cook up that. Jim will want a salad too.
Goodness do be careful about slipping on the floor from the icemaker leakage! That's the last thing you need!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Argh on the garage door opener giving you more problems! Okay....now you are killing me with your dinner description for this evening. OMG! Do let us know what Barry says about the Prime Rib price. $35 would be a very good price but $135 would just be pure highway robbery!
Glad your fire department meeting went well Karen.
Hope you managed to get all your Christmas shopping done Michelle. I have three more to get. One for my girlfriend (the one at the Flower Shop) and I'm having a devil of a time trying to figure out what to get her! and just something little for our Mail Carrier and the guy who delivers our paper. Maybe will go look for a couple nice little boxes of chocolates. Am lovin' your dinner too (except for the zucchini noodles sorry!). :)

We are so not chatty Cathy's today. Must be the season of rush and crush. I'm so busy trying to fill out my SS paperwork, I can't see straight. Shoot, I can't see straight anyway, but handwriting is an issue. Typing is easy.

Michelle, honey, I used to hate buying for Fred's mom. She HAD everything. Just like Lynda, she HAS everything. I sent her a beautiful spruce seedling to plant in Bruce's memory on their new property, plus a cashmere throw for her shoulders. She has the best sense of humor, she had a mammogram today and asked if it would be half price since her surgery? God love her. Parents are hard to buy for, and yet, they bought for us many a year, do you think they thought, "What am I going to do this year?" Liv has reached the age that her presents are not as easy are previously. Even Fred is no fun anymore. I can't surprise him no matter the choice. Last year's Clark Griswold eggnog mug was the best. Haven't found anything to compare this year.

Karen, happy you guys don't have to fund an election for the FD. LOL on the weather forecast. I"ve come to the conclusion that you and Michelle have the best predictive, walk outside and check on your own. I've actually had it raining in my front yard and not in my back yard some days.

The icemaker is shot on the freezer. $400 to fix. I'm turning off the ice maker and will fill the bin with purchased ice and just reach in. I'm not spending money on an icemaker. Thank goodness we saved the homemade ice cream to the freezer outside.

The UPS man met Fred outside (delivering a present I got for Olivia). He didn't even want to walk to the front door. He asked Fred, "Do you have big dogs?" Fred said, "Yeah." UPS said, "I thought one of the dogs was a man when he charged the door, he was so tall." "I don't want to walk to your front door." God Bless Charlie Brown. He is officially my dog. Liv may claim him, but he is living with me. Scotty's condo does not do animals. I feed him, dose him for fleas, and pay for his shots. I do believe he is mine.

The new plans for the St. Pete Pier redesign hit the papers today. I've been looking them over carefully. Fred hates them all. I like a few. They are much better than the last three designs submitted for our waterfront. I can remember the million dollar pier of my youth with Buddy getting painted turtles, the inverted pyramid with Tyler watching the birds and riding the glass elevator, his tour of the ill-fated Bounty, our wake for Joyce and for Buddy at the Pier. There is so much of St. Pete that is part of my life that it is hard to see it change. There is a group on Facebook named "If you grew up in St. Pete" and it posed the question, "Is life better in St. Pete now or was it better before" I hated the number of posters who consider us a slum and 'uninhabitable' because of their racism. It sickened me. I remember the Green Benches, Webb City, Daddy's Central Ave Car Dealership, The Independent, beaches before condos, Aunt Hatties, etc. I vehemently defended the resurgence of Central Avenue, the vibrant downtown waterfront, the Vinoy, the Don CeSar, Straub park and Beach Drive, the magnet programs in schools, the Rays, our parks, ease of access North to South through the city of St. Pete, the Dali Museum, Chihuly, St Pete Museum of Arts, the Florida Orchestra, the Holocaust Museum, John Hopkins All Children's hospital, St. Pete College, Eckerd College, USF St. Pete campus.....so much has improved. No longer the sleepy town of my youth, it is vibrant. Plus the craft beer....good grief, turn around, throw a stone and you hit a new craft brewery. Shoot one is named 'The Green Bench Brewery' which makes me giggle as well as the 'The Flying PIg' somehow both of those breweries are closer to me than the 'Blonde Girl' brewery, maybe because I'm no longer blonde??? Of course all of this activity is moot. I don't leave the house. I don't sit outside my own house. I live in a full size bed trying to avoid the open sores down my spine. Curling on my side around a dog and then doing impossible aerobics to get up to do my business in the bathroom. I do sit occasionally in the family room and I bathe on my chair (I never feel clean) , but going out to "see" the world is impossible. I've asked Fred to move my wind chimes so I can hear them out my window and he has refused. "Wait til we move.." No, dear I want to hear them outside my open window now. He walks into my room and shudders, "it is so cold in here." No, it is finally comfortable. I have my dogs cuddled next to me, the fan overhead and the windows open. Nothing could be finer except for being in Carolina in the morning.

SP I bet Tina! i just posted before you. :) What a perfect gift for Lynda. Super thoughtful. Just lovely. LOL @ the 1/2 Price mammogram. I wouldn't pay $400 to fix the ice maker either. It reminds me of the $500 the garage wanted to fix the automatic door locks on the rear doors of our car. No thanks. We'll just manually open them like we did before there was such a thing as automatic door locks. :) Someday I will go to St. Petersburg Tina. I hope you're still there when I do. You've very much built it up in my mind as a Bucket list place. :) I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I hope it gets better and soon. Gentle hugs. Gotta go rustle up dinner.

Janet, if you and JIm, or for that matter any of the ODD gang show up in St. Pete, I will rally my fat ass and escort you to my favorite haunts. Truly, I am, Tina the Tourguide. Janet, we would have a blast doing the downtown crawl from tea at the Vinoy, cocktails at the Dali, supper at 400 Beach Drive after a stroll through the Chihuly. A trolley ride down Central Avenue, a stop at the Holocaust Museum to the beaches. A whole second day with a trip from the tip of the South county beaches to the North Beaches to experience the whole peninsula. From South Beach north, breakfast at Sea Porch Don Cesar.......shop at John's Pass, lunch at Mad Beach.......cocktails in Sand Key, dinner at Frenchie's Original. I would recommend the boutique hotel, "The Hollander" for your stay. It is quintessential St. Pete old style glamour at affordable prices. Great coffee and bakery, plus the lobby is ab-fab for cocktails and appy's. If a beach stay is more to your liking, I would recommend the Alden Suites for mid county access and beautiful accomodations. The Alden has a beautiful hot tub. They have a great bar, no restaurant, but there are so many spectacular restaurants within walking distance, this is no issue. I would LOVE to show off my hometown. It is a beautiful destination.

I SO KNOW you are Tina the Tour Guide Extraordinaire Tina. :) It sounds like an absolutely amazing two days and I'd do it in a heartbeat. You're awesome!
Forgot to mention that I got a couple good deals in the grocery store on my way home. I went to "Metro" where I don't usually go. Got a Butterball Turkey (a little bigger than I wanted but still) for $15.34 and a big bag of frozen lobster claws and legs, similiar to what I buy at Costco (for the same price) for $19.99. My main aim was to buy a Smoked Turkey drumstick but that was a no go. What's with the shortage? :)
