Tuesday Thunder

Good morning.

We have dark skies and rumbling thunder. Hoping it clears for the trek to our dentist appt in Rolla, but rain is the order of the day. My rain jacket is in the RV, of course. We were under a severe storm watch last night but it has ended and the storms are all headed south. Don’t care for the pink tone to the sky and heavy overcast, though!

Fritz is still in his crate. He spends a lot of time there when it thunders, although he is improving.

Otherwise all is calm in the Ozarks.

Finally got on Facebook. Love your Spring pictures, Janet. I really should check in more often, but retired life is busier than when I was working.

Rain and Dentist appointments don't sound fun Karen. :) The weather man is calling for rain here this afternoon too and a high of 19C/66F. The rain will help all the flowers come up that's for sure. Glad you liked my Spring photos. The little chipmunk is a sweetie and has at least four little babies. Hope Fritz ventures out of his crate soon. :)

Jim and I had thought we'd take our bikes for a spin around the Tulip Festival today but it doesn't look like that's the best idea since it's going to rain. I think I will try and mow at least half of the lawn. It'd be nice if I could get the front yard done. Then find some good comfort food meal to make for dinner this evening.

Will you drive over to the Tulip Festival Janet? or just focus on getting the yard mowed.

The bear must have made his way over to this side of the neighborhood or maybe there is another because something knocked over our neighbors and our trash cans, and they are big and heavy.
I noticed my neighbors knocked over before I went to bed and then I had gotten up around midnight or so and noticed ours was knocked over. I figured we would clean it up in the morning but my neighbor was up before us and cleaned ours up for us which was very much appreciated. When I had seen ours knocked over I set up the video camera to see if I could catch anytime night time activity and around 4:30 a.m. I caught footage of him checking out the garbage again.

The stock I made overnight in the crockpot sucked! No flavor at all, not enough chicken carcass. I was going to save it and use it for another round but I don't have the ideal space to store broth just for that purpose. If it was good broth then yes, but to store broth to make broth no. My crockpot is 6 quarts. I'll try again but I'll wait till I have 2 carcasses.

Will probably go to the gym this afternoon and after the grocery store. Will pick up something easy for dinner when we shop.

Morning Linda! When we do go to the Tulip Festival we have to put the bikes in the rack on the car and drive there and then bike once we're there/near. We'll pass on that plan today though as it has already started to sprinkle rain. That also puts a hold on my lawn mowing plans. Jim's talking about wanting to go for a jaunt this afternoon maybe. We'll see how the day progresses. Wow on the garbage cans getting knocked over. Nice of your neighbour to straighten yours up. Great idea on the video camera. Maybe tonight you'll catch something on it. A shame you weren't pleased with the crockpot broth. I really do prefer my stovetop method. Enjoy your time at the gym.

I bet it is a bear that knocked over the trash cans Linda, or something else big lol. That was nice of your neighbors to clean it up for you! Ugh on the broth, I hate when recipes just turn out awful :(

Made it back to the gym finally this morning. After I need to run to the grocery store then get Italian beef going in the crockpot for sandwiches tonight along with fries. That's about it for now, have a great day!!

Hope you get something on the game camera, Linda. We deal with raccoons chewing holes in in the trash can lids or scattering it. I am still ticked at Mr Coon scaring Traveled away...LOL! Boo on the bad broth.

One of the hygienists had doctor appt this morning so Wayne is now in and I have just finished, instead of both of us at one time. A trip to McD or Hardee’s is next as we haven’t had breakfast and I need coffee! Ha ha.

I bet the bear knocked your garbage can over, Linda. Nice of your neighbour to fix it though. Bummer about the stock/broth you made. I hate it when that happens. Enjoy your gym time this afternoon and I hope you find some cool things at the grocery store.

I have a hearing aid appointment this afternoon (just a check-up) After that I just need to pick up milk and stuff and I will also pick up a rotisserie chicken for dinner. Not sure about the sides yet.

Good Luck with your appointment Joce. Italian Beef sandwiches are sorta like hot roast beef sandwiches in a bun and when the meat cooks it has Italian seasonings. Not sure what recipe Michelle uses, they vary.

Hi Joce! A rotisserie chicken is a good idea for a rainy day. I have cabbage rolls down in the freezer I should use up but I also feel like cooking so am still sitting on the fence about dinner plans. Good luck with your hearing aid appointment.

Ohhhhh! So you did catch the bear on the video camera after all Linda! Is it a big 'un? :)

We've decided just to stay home and putter so I have a big pot of chicken broth going on the stove.

and have some mushrooms to use up so will make
Manellas Mushroom Risotto
on the side and then probably asparagus as my veg. Have a fair amount of that as well so should probably use it all up soon too.

Too cool that you caught the bear on your camera Linda! Wow, how on earth do you mistake a bear for a dog? Not sure I believe that story, but it sounds like they will still get some sort of sentencing? People!!

The beef is smelling wonderful in the slow cooker! I think I may saute up some onions and mushrooms to put on the sandwiches as well. Made a wonderful salad for lunch that I will be reviewing in the IMI soon. Got groceries put up, dishes unloaded and put away, vacuuming done, more laundry hung up, and now I can watch a recorded show before the kids come home :)

It looked like it was going to pour rain earlier so we went to our development's gym and I pushed off the grocery store for another day. Forgot I had turkey in gravy frozen so I pulled out one and will heat that up for dinner open faced sandwich style with veggies.
I put a short video up on my FB page of what I caught last night. He went over to the trash can and hung out eating out of it again for the second time that night for about 10 minutes and then moved back on over to the neighbors can.

Well, it's Tuesday so Tis my cheese night. Bought a new brand last week from the Fresh Market and really, really liked it so bought another one for tonight. The brand is Emmi from Switzerland. It's a couple more $$ than others but don't mind that. Y'all know I love my cheese, lol!

It cleared up this afternoon so once we'd finished lunch I went out and got a lot of the lawn mowed. Just have a wee bit more to do up by the road and then the back yard. About to head out for a hot tub.

Cool enough that Jim is building us a fire. He went for a bike ride this afternoon and now his bum hurts. LOL. We'll perhaps push our cycling around the Tulip Festival 'til Thursday.
