Weather Wednesday

Morning! It is dreary and rainy outside today. I started a thread yesterday morning at the gym, then when I hit post it said I had no internet connection and I lost it. Was SO frustrated!!

So yesterday was a hot mess. Long story short our washing machine flooded half our house and we spent all day wet vac'ing and cleaning it up. Right now my all my kitchen appliances are pulled out and we have fans still blowing on the walls behind since there were no baseboards behind them to stop the water. Our $3,000 rug may be ruined. We sucked as much water as we could out of it but really need to get it outside to dry, but it won't stop raining!

Anyway, we did manage to go to dinner with my Dad last night at Olive Garden. It was actually pretty good, it's not usually somewhere we go but I think we chose our dinners wisely and stayed away from the meatballs we all know are from the freezer haha.

Posted pics. Of the little cuties we got on FB :) I'll see if I can get them to stick here.

My kitchen should be back together in a few hours. Going to maybe do fish tacos as I've been craving them since Janet mentioned them last week I think :P. Wishing everyone a great day!!

    Good Morning!
OH NO, what a terrible mess, Michelle! I hope you can save your rug. What a shame! Do you need to get a new washer too? The pics are adorable and I love the names. Nice you enjoyed your dinner last night with your Dad. Bri has been having quite a bunch of celebrations for her 13th BD. Good luck with getting your kitchen back together today.

I had a terrible night I hardly slept at all b/c I couldn't get comfortable b/c I did too much yesterday even though I said I wouldn't. My back is killing me. Not sure what is for dinner yet.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

    Good morning.

    Such cute little critters!

Ugh on the kitchen fiasco, Michelle! Hope your rug can be saved. Wayne just commented we need to replace the hoses every five to ten years, or thereabouts. Our machines are fairly new so not something we have to worry about in the near future.

Hope your back feels better Joce!

It rained all day yesterday and more is to come. We have a “thing” to go to this evening but weather calls for freezing rain again, so.....

Yesterday we decided to grab a bite at Wendy’s after taking GS swimming....thought about Waffle House but GS doesn’t care for it and I didn’t want to deal with his griping. Well, the Sirloin Stockade, right next door to WH, caught fire while it was open! We smelled smoke when we left Wendy’s and saw smoke over a mile away. It was a total loss. No word on what caused it.

Trouble is asleep on Wayne’s recliner, Fritz is on the couch with him while he takes a nap, Traveler has become spooky again, extended his comfort zone back to 30 feet. AC was trying to get outside....he saw his arch rival thru the window! Crazy cats.

A nap sounds good! Even after a second cup of coffee! Mauser has joined me so we can snooze together!

Hi Joce! Michael toyed around with the washing machine last night, and it has been working fine today so far. We are keeping a close eye on it though, don't want it over fill again!! That was the last b-day celebration for Bri lol. Ugh on not getting good sleep, hopefully you can take a quick nap today, and that you sleep better tonight.

Holy cow on the restaurant catching on fire Karen, scary!!

Well, we have the rug unrolled now and have a high powered fan on it that Michael's friend let us borrow. We will just keep moving it around it, and hopefully it will dry.

Change in dinner plans. We are trying to get the freezer cleaned out because in about a week or 2 we are picking up meat from 1/2 steer and a pig. It will be a TON and need to make room!! I pulled out a bag of frozen meatballs to make meatball soup and am making my own stock from some beef bones I had hidden away in there as well. Since I have about 3 pckgs. of ground beef and frozen chili to use up, I figure I'll throw the fish tacos somewhere in the middle to change it up lol.

I'm so sorry for the double posting Linda!!!

    Here is Linda's thread:

    Good Morning Everyone!

Watched some of the Olympics last night, the women's down hill skiing, and a few of them fell. I just can't imagine going that fast down a hill and falling. These gals are tough and I'm sure sore today.
I have an Oatmeal Honey no-knead bread on it's second rise that I'll bake soon. Going to pull out 1/2 chix from the freezer to thaw and roast that for dinner with whatever veggie needs to be used first and will have split pea soup for lunch. I have lunchmeat and that'll be the "back-up" plan for DH if he doesn't like the soup.

Nothing much going on here today. DH can't do anything because of the stitches in his arm and I'm starting to go crazy not doing anything. Perhaps I can convince him to come to the gym and at least walk on the treadmill. If not I may take LD shopping for kitchen towels. Most of mine are pretty yucky and I could use some new ones but it's not something important that has to be done today.

What's on everyone else's agenda for today?

Glad the rug is drying, Michelle! Overflowing washers can really make a mess.

Linda, I empathize with having to use a tablet. My iPad just updated and the keyboard is a royal pain....it keeps switching to alternative letters and substituting @ for a.

Got to get after laundry. See you later.

    Good Morning Michelle and Joce!

Oh dear at the washing machine flooding the house Michelle! What caused it to flood can you tell? Is the washing machine located near the kitchen? And final question....will you be able to have the Insurance Company pay for it? Glad you had a nice dinner out with your Dad at the Olive Garden. I like Bri's Guinea Pig Olivia the best because I LOVE its colours! Nibbles is cute too. :)

Sorry you had a horrible sleep Joce. Hope you get a better one tonight. My girlfriend Diane who owns the Flower Shop messaged me this morning to say that she'd had a horrible sleep because a City worker had been out in front of their place at 2:30 in the morning with a front end loader uncovering the catch basins. She said he broke some of the curb off while doing it which he placed on her neighbour's front lawn! She said the noise was terrible. Ai yi yi.

Oh dear on the restaurant burning Karen. Kind of an amusing name...."The Sirloin Stockade". LOL.

Nice that you are getting a whole lot of meat delivered soon Michelle. Good luck going through the things in your freezer before it arrives. I'm kind of in the same boat. I've got lots of lovely things down in the freezer but I figure I should start using them so that it is pretty well empty by the time Jim and I leave for Taiwan. We're hiring someone to check in on the house but the last thing I want is for the power to go off and to lose totally good food.

Nice on the Oatmeal Honey bread Linda. Jim and I watched a bit of Olympics as well. Happy Canada beat Finland in the Men's Hockey this morning and we can advance. I so know what you mean if you've been at home for a while and not getting out. Oh no on computer problems. Ugh.

We're just hanging out at the house today. it's SO mild! 7C/44F. Jim went out and shovelled off the back deck as it's melting and causing water to back up and potentially flood the basement walk out. I called my Mom this morning and we had a nice long chat. I wrote a couple of letters as well but have another couple yet to do. (I have a fair amount of older relatives that still do the letter mail thing. :))

    Making
    Lemon Rosemary Brined Roast Chicken
with some asparagus for dinner this evening.

Good afternoon and hello to all. Yipes on the flood Michelle! Hope your rug isn't ruined and drys. Love the little cuties and their names! I think it's great that you still write letters Janet. That's a lost thing now a days. Remember Pen Pal's when we were kids?

Was really tired last night and went to bed at 9:00pm, which is unusual for me. Laid down on the couch to watch some tv and just couldn't keep my eyes open. Thought this is silly and got up and went to bed. We've been really busy the last couple of weeks so doesn't surprise me. Only bad part was I was wide awake at 5:00am! Went ahead and got up instead of just tossing and turning. No doubt my battery will run out early again tonight, lol. But I actually enjoy being up before the sun comes up. It's quiet and peaceful as no one else is awake. Spent my life HAVING to get up that early when I worked in the corporate world and still had kids in school.

Tacos here tonight. But beef, not fish. Benny would disown me if I made fish tacos, lol.

Hope all enjoy the rest of the day.

Wayne agrees on the fish tacos, Kimmer. Ha ha.

Hate it when I don’t sleep well, Joce, although that is not often.

It is 30 F here Janet with possible freezing drizzle.

Decided to cancel this evenings jaunt. I put ground beef on to make sauce for lasagna.

We should ha be more rain Thur, Fri., and Saturday. We need a slow steady rain for sure.

I totally remember Pen Pal's as kids Kimmer. Not in contact with any of them any longer but I did write my cousin Fran when I was very young and I did keep in contact with her over in England until last year when she died. Great that you got a good night's sleep but ugh at waking up at 5 a.m.! Yum on your tacos.

I think it sounds wise to have cancelled your jaunt after your description of your weather Karen. Lasagna sounds excellent. Haven't had that in a very long time.

We did end up getting a bit of flooding in Jim's workshop. He checked it first thing and just a couple of hours later there was water inside. He's stopped it now and it's all mopped up.

Had a nice puttering about kind of day. Sens Game on this evening and I'm looking forward to the Rotisserie chicken. Jim requested
    Twice Baked Spinach Potatoes
to go with the chicken and asparagus. He worked up an appetite doing all that shovelling.
