Wednesday

Well, Wednesday is here at last. Hump day. Midweek.

The little deer were here early again - looking right up at me as they discovered their corn was NOT ready. Wayne said they were too early. I told him they want him to get it out earlier. Ha ha.

It is a gorgeous, sunny day. I have had a second cup of coffee and am ready to be humanoid.

    Second page again? Hmm.

The only W word I could come up with at this hour of the morning was Wine. Unfortunately I thought of it AFTER the above post was added. And it is a tad bit early for wine, anyhow.

    Tina? Marie?

i'm settled in at the computer in front of the pellet stove. jim and i are going to go to a movie this afternoon, "the big short" for some entertainment. we need some coffee,a few groceries and jim has a big hole in his sorels so we may go look for a new pr. for him, so will head in a bit early and do that ahead of time. although we'll have to grab the groceries after the movie so they won't freeze. something those of you in warm climes may not have thought of. :)

    Good Morning.
Thankfully Pete is home today. He took Colter to school, and he's also going to pick up some grocery's while I stay home with Sophia. I still have to think of a grocery list for him, I don't have a meal plan at the moment! Must search for inspiration....
    Enjoy the movie Janet!
Enjoy the sunny day Karen, I hope your feeling a bit better :)
    Have a great day everyone!

Den has gone to Cornwall today and he might be back earlier than normal. Dinner will be Wiener Schnitzel with creamy scalloped potatoes and a veggie of some kind.
    Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Pete's back from the store, he got essentials for now. I think tonight will be either a simple pasta with sauce or frozen pizza.
Feeling blah, I hope I'm not getting Sophia's cold :S

Good afternoon!! Lol at the little deer being too early Karen, too cute :P

I haven't heard of that movie Janet, I'll have to look it up. Lol, your right, I have never thought of my groceries freezing, and will probably never have to worry about that. Our main worry always is our groceries getting too hot! MMMmmmm...hot turkey sandwiches sound delish!!

Hi Shona! Grocery list can sometimes take me all day too make, but that's when I plan out my whole menu for the week at the same time. I usually lay a piece of paper on the counter a couple days before I hit the store and everybody can add what they need or think of up until I go. Is Sophia not feeling well again? I need to check back to tomorrow and see.

Good job at getting us back on the first page Joce, you did a good job :) :) Your dinner sounds great!! Still need to give wiener schnitzel a try!

NEVER mind Shona, just saw you said she has a cold. Poor Sophia, hope she feels better poor baby :(

Did the gym then swung by the grocery store to pick up what I though was a few things for the kids lunch kits that we were running low on and ended up spending $99. Ugh! Made a huge salad for lunch and about to make some homemade granola. Bri likes those yogurts with the granola on top, but they are getting harder and harder to find. They have all the one's now with crushed Oreos or crushed Heath bars and a hundred other candy bar toppings, but she just likes the granola and today, I couldn't find ANY! Soooo I bought a bunch of regular yogurt flavors like vanilla, strawberry, blueberry and I figure I can just send one of those with a little baggie of granola and she can just stir that in. I think it's going to be a lot cheaper too!! Going to roast 2 chickens tonight (both pretty small and I need leftovers) and make up some green beans and probably some potatoes for the kids and Michael. Have a mountain of laundry to tackle, have a great day everyone!!

    Good afternoon.

Shona, you certainly have had it rough with the Sophia's being sick and the rotten weather. It has to get better - spring is not too far away.

Janet, I am on the road to recovery. Our daughter and GS both have a head cold so I guess I lucked out with only a slight one. Wayne is beginning to show signs of one. It is making the rounds. Yes, when we lived in Michigan, and somewhat in Germany, we had to arrange grocery shopping so nothing froze. One of the ladies who was PCSing gave me her plants (can't bring them to the U.S. because of the difference in soil, they don't want cross contamination) and we had to cover them with a blanket in back of the car because temperatures were dropping below 0F that night. But it was an occasional event, not a way of life.

Hi Joce. Love your multiple posts. You can expect me for dinner today - LOL! Wayne loves Weinerschnitzel, or most anything breaded and fried.

Michelle, these deer are following their own schedule. They watched him come out and pour the corn. Then they waited about 15 minutes and wandered back into the yard again and chowed down. So cute. We have had more concern about groceries getting too hot, but usually only in the summer months. In Georgia, it was a constant concern. It was always hot and humid, and I can't take that high humidity and heat any more.

Wayne's buddy came over and he has exited stage right so he can pick up one of his step-granddaughters from school. They worked on the well house roof today. Glad he is back - now they can finish some of the long-awaited projects.

I got ambitious and cleaned a third of the kitchen shelves - almost. Put rubber (plastic ?) mats on them and redid the groceries. Looks much better. I found stuff I didn't know I had any more. Sigh. Now as soon as my back stops bothering, I will try to finish the sole remaining shelf -- the dreaded spices area. Aargh! The cupboard above the stove had evidence of mousely invasion and one deceased brown recluse. No other mouse tracks anywhere in the kitchen. I asked Wayne to put a trap on the shelf and will maybe put some "roach tape" also just in case one has sneaked its nasty little self into my kitchen.

Was going to stain the butcher block island but didn't have the correct sand paper so will have to wait on that.

We are back in the sun room, the sun is shining and the temps are somewhere around 55 or thereabout, felt warm anyhow when I stepped outside.

I may go with Wayne tomorrow morning - he has a chiropractor appt. and I will get to enjoy breakfast out. Waffle House probably. They have cheesy eggs and grits with bacon and raisin toast, with or without a waffle. Very good.

    See you later.

Thursday here and almost noon so I will just say "Hi". I can totally relate to the freezing groceries - we used to go to Costco and then get another load at Safeway or SuperStore and by then Jason would want lunch. It was always an issue of whether we had things that couldn't stand a wait in the car and more than once we made errors in judgement that resulted in unintentional freezing. Now we have the opposite issue. Since we don't have a car and cabs are not generally air conditioned, we haven't bought ice cream since we moved here except as an "eat it now" treat. Walking 2 km home with raw meat or seafood at 35C is not really a good idea in my opinion and we try to do most everything on foot.
Cool on the deer being out early Karen, they must be adorable. Hope you are feeling 100% soon.
Homemade granola sounds good and so does weiner schnitzel (well maybe not at the same time). We are doing pulled pork in the slow cooker and then will make roti to put it in just before we eat.

Sounds sort of like Georgia but minus a way to keep ice cream in a semi solid state. You must have acquired quite an appreciation for the local cuisine. I never thought much about keeping things frozen/fresh....just toss them into the cooler if we are going to be away for a while.

Yes we do enjoy the deer. They are not afraid unless we get too close. I guess they will wander further as they grow older, but it is fun to see them check in.

    Have a nice day.
