Wednesday's Worries

Good Morning. Hope everyone has a great day with NO worries.

Was brushing the dog's teeth last night and to make a long story short he has a bad tooth so called the dental specialist this a.m. and he has an appointment tomorrow to have it checked out. I know what's going to happen ... Doctor will confirm and we'll be scheduled for surgery to have it removed. Just hate the thought of LD having to be put under anesthesia but there is no other way. A little over a year ago he had to have 19 teeth removed because of dental disease. His vet kept telling me everything looked great and when I moved down here I had a funny feeling and took him to see a specialist and his mouth was not great. Anyhow onto something more pleasant.

Had salmon (me) and crab (DH) cakes last night for dinner with corn on the cob and steamed asparagus. We have a specialty store called Fresh Market that also sells prepared foods and the seafood cakes are great. All I have to do is heat them. Also bought a can of decaf Café du Monde so I can use half regular and half decaf when making a jug of cold brew coffee for fridge. I love coffee but too much caffeine bothers me.

Looks like its going to be another lovely day. Temp right now is 76 and it'll probably warm up to about 86.

Rented and watched Bridge of Spies. It wasn't really my cup of tea but it was a good movie and well done.

I love reading historical fiction Janet. Last night I loaded a sample of All The Light We Cannot See ... I'll see if it catches me interest. It's suppose to be a great read.

Too funny about your raccoon Karen. They can be rascally little imps. We had a really sweet mellow one that would visit every night for dinner for over a year. She even brought her two babies to visit when they were old enough. Sadly though we had a distemper outbreak here and she caught it.

Good Morning Linda! Well....I have a wee worry this morning. :) I have a dentist appointment a bit later on. Just a cleaning, but I despise going to the Dentist. :) And then, oh dear I read that LD has to go to the Dentist too. Poor thing. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the appointment goes well. That's a lot of teeth removed! Does it hamper what he can eat now? Your dinner sounded wonderful last night. Jim and I loved Bridge of Spies. "All the Light We Cannot See" is our Book Chat book for June. :) Next month is "Travelling to Infinity", Jane Hawkings side of the story. It's a big book and I only have two weeks to read it before I have to pass it on to another person. I don't know that I'm going to get it finished!!!

Tons of errands to run in town after my appointment. Lunch out may be in order. :)

    Making
    Sweet And Sour Spare Ribs
for dinner this evening. Probably garlic mashed potatoes on the side and don't know the veg yet. It'll be a good wintry meal as we should be in the midst of a snow storm by then. :)

Good morning. Hope all goes well for LD. Were the previously removed teeth puppy teeth? He is so cute.

Fritz is lively this morning. He pulled papers from the trash to carry around and hassled the cats, is just now settling down. Wayne is taking him along to do chores, not something I would try since the chickens would panic if he set paw in the chicken coop. Rain is coming in soon so it looks like indoor tasks today. We need the rain since it is so dry.

Watching Today show bit on using whole fat milk instead of skim or low fat. The premise is that whole foods are better for us and the weight gain is higher with skim / low fat products. Very interesting. We use whole foods only, very irritating when the stores have only low fat yogurt.

Time to get breakfast and get some work done. Have a wonderful day.

Morning! Wow Linda, 19 teeth removed? I guess they grow back? Lol, I know nothing about dog teeth. Good luck with this removal...let us know how it goes. Oh yum on salmon and crab cakes, both sound delicious!! Your weather sounds like about our except we have cooler mornings as right now it’s in the 50’s, but believe me we will be up in the 80’s in few hours lol :)

Janet I skimmed through yesterday’s posts, I love Sookie Stackhouse! I’ve only read a few of the books, but I did watch the series on HBO “True Blood,” did you watch that? I understand if you didn’t, my Aunt had read the books and started watching True Blood but stopped watching it because it veered away from the books so much. I loved the show though personally, although may have changed my mind had I read the books. :) Yummy on the ribs, let us know how they turn out for you.

So we have our All Stars team together (aka tournament team) but now we are worried. The other Santa Fe All stars team wants to take Bri with them and they have first pick so we have no say. They have a pitcher that is amazing (like college amazing), but if they take Bri, then she will never get to pitch and she won’t get any field time as their pitcher throws so fast that nobody even wants to swing at them. So for right now I WANT her to stay with this new team we formed, she still has some learning to do and I want her to get good playing time. So crossing fingers they will be fair (and listen to our wishes) and not take her, which so far, it sounds promising.

Dinner will be something with Italian sausage, a soup or something? Caiden has practice and Bri has her first practice with her hopefully new team, so it will be a driving around dropping off kids and getting somewhere else quick to get the other kid night once again. So I will need to get dinner ready early to reheat. Going to wash the truck today, wish me luck that I can reach the top lol! Have a great day everyone :) :)

    SP Janet.

We are having pork chops for dinner, as soon as I decide which recipe to use. Good luck on the dentist appointment.

Good Luck at the dentist Janet. Do you know dentists have the highest suicide rate out of medical professionals because everyone hates seeing them. I had read that somewhere sometime. I don't mind the dentist, just find it inconvenient to have to go.

Two weeks to read a book! Yikes. I'm good for a chapter or two a night and that's about it. I'm not a fast reader.

Yes, 19 missing (adult) teeth does have it's challenges so I cut his food up small or shred it.

Love Spare Ribs! Stay safe and warm ... hopefully your snow won't so bad.

Poor doggy! Our 10 yr old cock-a-poo has teeth problems too, I understand the anesthesia thing, it can be scary. I hope it all goes well!! My favorite coffee company (Kicking Horse Coffee) makes a Half-Caff version of my favorite blend. It's called Kick-Ass, so the half-caff is called Half-Ass, Lol....I like to drink that if I want some in the afternoon. :)

I read a lot of historical fiction, I think I've read almost all of Phillipa Gregory's novel's. The last few years I've been reading more fantasy novels. My mom and I shared all of the Sookie Stackhouse books, Gail Carriager's series is a riot---thick Victorian Steampunk---and I just finished the last book in Deborah Harkness's All Soul's trilogy.
I'm currently reading Kate Morton's the Lake House. I've read all her other books too, it's historical fiction but with a twist--as all her stories switch back and forth from present day to the past to uncover a mystery. Her novels are usually set in England.

Yikes on the snow storm Janet, stay warm! :)

We stay away from no-fat and lowfat stuff too Karen--they have to replace the fat with something else and it's usually gelatin. I can't stand gelatin, yucky. We're getting rain today too. The county already issued a fire ban because of the dryness, so it's much needed here as well!

I hope Bri can stay with her team! Fingers crossed! You might have to get an extension arm for your cleaning brush--that's what I use for washing the top of the van ;)

I didn't make the stew yesterday because I was out of beef stock, so I'll make it tonight. The weatherman was wrong and today will be colder (8C) and possibly rainy, so it's perfect for stew. We're suppose to get to 26C degrees on Friday though, crazy weather! Not much going on, probably stay in and clean...I also want to make some granola and a chicken salad for lunch.

    Have a great day everyone!

I think it's sweet Wayne is bringing Fritz along while he does his chores. He'll get into the routine and what the rules are soon enough I expect Karen. :)

No Michelle, I never watched "True Blood". I'm sure I'd like it. The ribs are my Grandma McDonald's recipe and I haven't made it yet this winter so thought it was due time. :) Keep us tuned on the Santa Fe All Star team dilemma. :) I can understand why you'd want Bri to stay on the team she is on now alright. An Italian sausage soup sounds yummy.

LOLOLOL LInda. You made me laugh out loud when I read that Dentist's have the highest suicide rates but of course it is not at all funny, but I can see how they must feel. I have actually thanked a nurse who took my blood before because she was so good and I really didn't feel a thing, and she was so pleased with my thank you and told me that rarely happens....that she gets thanked. :) I have never thanked a dentist though I'll admit. Normally we have a month to read a book for the book chat but that book is in short supply so we are sharing amongst ourselves. :( I'm not a fast reader either. And it's also a time issue thing...sometimes too many other things going on!

I'm going to go and google some of those books Shona. I'm always interested in finding new authors/books I wasn't aware of. Enjoy your beef stew. Wow on 26C by Friday.

The snow storm has started here.

If you look up Gail Carriager, The Parasol Protectorate series is her first series in Adult Fiction--it's so witty and such a page turner, love her writing! I also read her Finishing School series in young adult, just because I love her writing, and it's just as witty! She has a spin off of the Protectorate series that I can't wait to read called the Custard Protocol. ~ Funny names, but if you read the books you'd know why! ;) Set in Victorian London, She drinks a lot of tea, loves treacle tarts, hats and her beloved parasol! Oh, and of course there are vampires, werewolves and a few other supernaturals---how she combines them all is so witty and fun! :)
My MIL loves the Kate Morton books, and the Philllipa Gregory -Tudor series and the Cousins War series. I always give her my historical fiction when I'm done with them. :)

Gail Carriager sounds like a fun author Shona thanks. I've made myself a note. Too many books, too little time. :)

Jim and I ended up getting yummy Dim Sum for lunch in town. Tempura, dumplings, General Tso's chicken, teppanyaki salmon, sushi, etc.etc. It's one of those all you can eat spots. Really good stuff.

My dental cleaning went fine but my Dentist told me he'd like to remove one of my old crowns and replace it with a new one. He said the old one has a ledge to it that food and what not could get trapped under and the technology these days is so much better he could make a new one that didn't have a ledge. Well....that's all well and good, but as far as I know, this present crown may still have a good ten years in it. It's not damaged, I have no cavities, there is no proof that I NEED a new one. I'm starting to get a little annoyed at the Dentistry profession and I'm also losing some trust in them. It's almost like they are trying to sell you more things. The Dentist was ready to book me in for a crown appointment right away, but I said to give me an estimate (over $1000 if you please) and I'd think about it. Shaking my head. Off my soap box.

    Joce....hope you're doing okay. Tina?

Prepped the spare-ribs and the garlic mashed potatoes. Will make up a veggie plate to go on the side. Jim borrowed a movie from the Library yesterday for us to watch tonight. "Love the Cooper's". It looks funny. I could use a good laugh. :)

I hate going to the dentist. Even for a cleaning lol. I canceled my cleaning appointment last week because I had so much going on. They called me while I was at work to reschedule and I said I was coming in with Rachel at 3 so I would figure it out then as I was at work. 2 minutes later they called back they can do my cleaning while Rachel is getting her cavity filled. So I had to go to the dentist Monday! And then I didn't have any cavities but they bitched about my flossing as usual and told me I had to have two old fillings replaced. It's such a pain!
