Woe is me Wednesday....

Good Morning Everyone! I'm still really sick. I'm afraid I am conceding defeat and am going to go in to the Clinic this morning and see if they can do anything for me. I hardly slept at all last night. Couldn't lie flat without coughing so slept upright on the Lazy-Boy couch, but not very well. Reminiscent of my broken arm days. :( My chest hurts SO badly. Darn colds. :(

No clue what to make for dinner this evening and I think I'll let Jim take over.

The bunny diffusers you bought sound adorable Linda. What scents did you choose? I love stuff like that. Are you still using your diffuser that you got a while back?

I'm bored out of my tree. Been stuck in the house for three days now. Jim got us a few movies to watch from the library yesterday. We watched Melissa McCarthy in "The Boss" last night. It was silly but funny.

Wishing everyone a good Wednesday! I took a couple of photos of some of my poppies that are blooming yesterday. Just love them.

    Good Morning!

Probably best to see a doctor Janet, last thing you need is your cold settling into something worse. Hoping you feel better soon.
I still use my essential oil diffuser regularly, I use it mostly at night and run lavender mixed with something else. The scents I bought at Yankee candle were vanilla cupcake, lemon lavender, and apple. The poppies are gorgeous!

I'm at the vet's office waiting while LD is being groomed. He's going to feel like a million bucks when he's done. He's so fuzzy and hot.

My smoothie this morning was an almost repeat of yesterday's ... almond milk, oats, frozen banana, vanilla extract, and cocoa nibs. With the oats it's like a milkshake.

I hope a doctor at the Clinic can help you with some medication, Janet. Please take good care of yourself and I am glad Jim is helping out. The poppies look lovely.

I bet LD will feel fantastic after his grooming, Linda. Have a good visit with DH today. Glad you enjoyed your smoothie this morning.

I will be working in the garden today as it is a lovely day not too hot or cool with low humidity. My kind of day. I am not sure what we are having for dinner yet. I will have to dig in the freezer and see what I can find.

    Wishing everyone a great day!

So sorry to hear you are this dick Janet! Glad to hear you're going to the clinic, I hope the cold hasn't manifest into anything more serious. Please take care of yourself today, rest up and let Jim take care of you! :) Those poppies are gorgeous!

Hi Linda, your smoothie sounds great! I love putting oats in smoothies. One of the kids favorites is a choco-banana smoothie, the frozen bananas turn into ice cream :D
I've never heard of a Vet's office who does grooming, how cool!

Hi Joce, have fun working in the garden today!

I have to take the kids to school in a moment. Just waiting for them to brush their teeth. It's raining like crazy! Love it! We usually don't see this much rain until our rainy/stormy season in August. The cloud seeding must have worked since we didn't see a thunderstorm, just rain. Nothing planned for today, just laundry and a few chores around the house. Dinner is roasted chicken and potatoes and another batch of Picnic Style Lemon Slaw

    Have a great day everyone!

Morning! That’s too bad your still feeling sick Janet, hopefully the doctor will get you all fixed up and you can get back to normal :( Good idea to let Jim take over on dinner. Is he like Michael and only has a small few things he can cook? Lol, if I got sick we would have spaghetti and meat sauce or sloppy joes (out of a can) :P Beautiful poppies!

Hi Linda! Lol at LD feeling better after being groomed, I bet he will! Yum on your smoothie :) Saw your question from yesterday and this is the almond milk I like: https://www.califiafarms.com/shop-products/plant-milks?gclid=Cj0KCQjwvYPKBRCYARIsAGrB_Du1Motlk8iYkVTS1zJeMXGop_a1qKW0jaqm31W5vRnlUCpJr6VAsocaAtlBEALw_wcB#?offset=0&limit=40&includeUnavailable
    Phew, long link, sorry!

Sounds like a great day to garden Joce!

The cloud seeding sounds interesting Shona! I think I have heard of it, but have never seen it. Glad it worked!

After all that talk from yesterday about bugs, I saw an earwig this morning for the first time in forever! We get them pretty bag, but since going with our new bug people about 9 months ago, we never see them, or much of anything else either.

Already did a grocery store run. I love going super early. The grocery store I go to is always very busy, so I like to get there before everyone else :) Going to make these today Main Dish Picnic Biscuits for the recipe challenge, I think they will make great quick breakfasts and should freeze well hopefully. Also want to make Quick And Easy Carrot And Chickpea Salad to go along with some grilled chicken tonight.

    Wishing everyone a great Wednesday!!

All done with LD's grooming and he does feel like a million bucks!! and is so happy! She did a great job on him. There are several veterinarian offices that have groomers and work areas here Shona.

Nice you are able to get outside and garden today Joce. Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

Sometimes I do add cocoa powder to my banana and oat smoothies Shona to make them chocolate and they really do taste like milkshakes but so much healthier.

That looks like a great brand of Almond Milk Michelle. I'll have to check the $$ next time I go shopping and see what it is selling for here.

Morning Joce! Jim's been offering to help ever since I first came down with this but I find it easier to just do things myself as opposed to telling him what needs to be done especially when I can't talk or it causes me to cough. Not that he is in anyway inept, it's just my domain so he doesn't know where things are or what needs to be done in what order. :) I very much envy you spending time in your garden today. It is indeed a perfect day for garden work.

I've never had oats in my smoothie Linda. Cookies yes, smoothies, no. :)

    Your dinner sounds awesome Shona.

Jim can whip up some very good food Michelle, but as I say, he needs to be talked through it. :) I'd be okay with some spaghetti and sauce or sloppy joes too though. :) Those biscuits sound really nice. Your dinner sounds yummy too.

Glad LD is pleased with his hair cut Linda. :)

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. We're just back from the clinic. Got in and out super quick. Turns out I have strep throat. I'm on penicillin for 10 days and he said I should feel better within a day or two. Thank heavens. Also picked up some awesome cough drops called Cepacol and they actually numb my throat. Feels great!!!!

Strep Throat ... good that you went to see the doctor Janet. Rest and take it easy.
You must try adding oats to creamy/dairy based smoothies Janet. It makes them thicker and creamier and you don't taste or detect the oats at all.

My DH is the same way, can't do a thing in the kitchen other than dirty dishes. He is always willing to help but it's easier for me just to do it.

Good luck with your chores today, Shona.

Glad you did your grocery shopping early, Michelle. I had been looking at theMain Dish Picnic Biscuits recipe I will waIt and see what they are like.

You are "ONE TOUGH COOKIE", Janet! I had strep throat only once and I don't know how you lasted a week before seeking help for it. We used to use Cepacol drops and there is a throat spray made by them as well. I hope the penicillin helps you. Den can cook but some of the things he cooks I am not very fond of. He cooked dinner for a month after I had my open heart surgery and Lol I survived.

Jim made a great grilled tomato, hummus and cheese sandwich for our lunch with cantaloupe afterwards which he bought at Sobey's yesterday. It's the best cantaloupe we've ever bought in a store! Maybe I should let him do this more often eh? :)

I have always been one to tough it out when I'm sick. I look at it as a noble trait but Jim thinks I'm nuts. LOLOLOL. I think it comes from when when I managed the Hardware store. We had a very small staff and if I didn't show up it was a major deal. I'd haul my bum in there unless I was on my death bed.

Now that you mention the Cepacol spray Joce I think I had that once. I really love these drops. Perhaps it's positive thinking on my behalf but I think I'm already coughing less. :) How's the gardening going? I remember you put down black mulch a while ago. Are you still pleased with it? Did it last well?

Jim's going to grill some steak with asparagus on the side and maybe a baked potato. Should be good.

Lol I think you are just like your mother, Janet. However, you are retired now and when you start to get sick you leave it to go too long before you end out going to the doctor. A little headstrong I think:) Lol I should talk I am very stubborn when it comes to somethings. I am glad Jim made such a nice lunch for you. I love cantaloupe and I am learning how to tell when they are ripe and not over ripe. I came in for a rest and I will go out later to finish some things up. The mulch and fabric work really well. I think it has been two or three years since we had to put more down. With all the rain we had earlier on we had quite a big puddle right in the middle of the backyard and some of the black mulch moved into the red mulch where I had it all bordered off. I still have to put more down and plant a couple of pink dianthus I bought. Grilled steak and baked potatoes sound wonderful as does asparagus.

I'm so glad that you went to the clinic Janet. LOL you sound just like me...until I had the seizure I had taken two sick days in 20 years. Rest up and enjoy your dinner, it sounds great. Lovely poppies, one of my favourites.

I bet that LD looks great!! I love the way dogs strut after being groomed, lol. Most vet offices here offer grooming as do the pet food stores. I still use my diffuser too, love it.

It's a great day for working in the garden, Joce. Lol @ surviving Den's cooking!! My DH can only fry eggs and when he asks how I want them I always say scrambled as that's the way they always turn out anyway.

I hate earwigs and haven't seen one, thankfully, this year Michelle. That biscuit recipe looks really good as does the salad. The grocery stores here are always busy regardless of the time of day but the weekends are insane.

I've never heard of cloud seeding, Shona. I'll have to google it. Mmm, roast chicken.

I don't know where the day went, it's almost time to start dinner. My client dropped a hint that she's almost of of dog cookies so I made up another batch for her this aft. She would really like to pay me for making them but I have no idea what to charge. Dinner will be egg foo young, chicken fried rice and a veggie stir fry.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

Good afternoon all. Wow on the strep throat Janet! I have had that before and it's no picnic! I'm like you, I tend to let things go on too long before giving in to go to the Dr. Just always like oh this will pass quickly, as many times it does just like last week. But sometimes the body just says hey......enough! Rest and let Jim do the cooking for a couple of days. Cepacol is great! It's been around for a long time, at least here in the states.

I bet LD felt great after his grooming! We too have numerous vets in our area that offer have the grooming services.

Daughter has a new kitten. She found a litter of 10 in the parking lot of a friends house. This particular one came running up to her in the pouring rain last night trying to snuggle with her and purring up a storm. So she took her home. Her name is Marlie Mae. We have messaged the rescue lady who I got Chloe from and she is going to try and get the rest of them tonight. They can't be too much more than 3 months old. Also where my daughter works, they had to evict someone and they left the cat behind in the apartment!!!! So Laura will take her too and try to find it a good home. This young lady that does this is so wonderful and caring.

An extremely humid 88F right now but horrible dark clouds are looming so looks like we are in for yet another afternoon/evening storm. I don't mind at all. For one the rain!!! And then once the storm passes so does the humidity for awhile. Chloe are out on the porch as usual at this time. But will probably be short lived once I see lightening, lol.

Grilled steak and baked potato sounds great! The main dish biscuits look good too. Will have to put that on the long list to try. Smoked pork chops and mac and cheese here tonight. Probably with some green beans too.

Wow, thunder is here and sky is black as can be coming over the house. Time to pack Chloe and I up and head inside.

Enjoy the rest of the day all.

LOL. I'm choosing to ignore the 'You're just like your Mother comment Joce". What are your tricks for buying ripe cantaloupe? I just usually go by feel and if I can smell it. I had to google Dianthus. When I saw it it made me think of "Sweet William", which my Mom used to have in her garden and indeed that's the 'common name' for it. I should buy a plant and see how it does for me as I've never grown it. I read that the word comes from the Greek words for "God" and "Flower". :) That's awesome your mulch and landscaping fabric did such a good job.

Well, I'm quite famous for my horrible memory Bren, so please remind me if you've already mentioned it but I wasn't aware you'd had a seizure. That's scary! What caused it and were you able to totally recover? 2 sick days in 20 years. Wow. I probably took a couple a year and then it's so hard when you have children and have to call in because they're sick!!! If only companies could operate with the family unit in mind. LOL @ the scrambled eggs. :) Jim made me breakfast this morning as well and did a great job with a fried egg, a slice of ham and a pc. of toast. He broke one of the eggs as he was flipping it and took it for himself as I have many times. The cook takes the worst plate I always say. You should put a price on your dog cookies you really should.A lot of the local farmer's markets sell them. I'll have to try remember to look at prices on them next time I see them. I never go in them but I do remember seeing that kind of thing in pet stores too. I just quickly googled price on dog cookies and found a bag of sweet potato and peanut butter dog treats selling for $8 U.S. so that's$10.62 Canadian for 30 treats and they're just small. Again, I never buy such a thing but a bag of home made dog treats for $9.99 doesn't sound outrageous to me. I'm sure Linda and Karen and other pet owners can comment and offer more insight. I think it'd be a great idea and a little off shoot of your business.Oh.....I want some Egg Foo Yung and Chicken fried rice please. I was just thinking about Egg Foo Yung the other day.

I'm guessing your daughter saw how much you were loving a kitten in the house and wanted that too Kimmer. :) How lovely. I love the name. How sad someone abandoned the kittens. :( And oh my goodness on the cat left behind in the apartment? Unbelievable. Am loving the sounds of your dinner as well. I LOVE smoked pork chops. Saw some the other day (they're hard to find here) but didn't grab them and I'm always up for Mac n' cheese.

Jim and I went out for a Hot Tub that felt good on my chest. It's been a beautiful day.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before or not Janet. I was prescribed the wrong dosage of medication and it wiped out most of the salt and minerals in my body. They said that I would recover 90% of my memory and I think that I have. I still have a hard time with peoples names and spelling. I agree, the cook takes the worst plate but then I like my yolks broken. I don't get sick very often and do believe that you should stay at home when you are but I work outside and have little contact with others. I'm going to look into pricing for the dog treats, thanks. I made about 200 little ones today.

Oh dear on the strep throat, Janet!

    Hi to everyone!

Most of our pets are abandoned or strays. I detest people who dump kittens or puppies. Trouble and Mauser were taken in my a family but the lady died and her son supposedly took the remaining kittens to the pound. At least, he claims he did.

This week has been too busy. Every day we have too much to accomplish. Between Wayne's doctor visits and feeding his friend's menagerie, we meet ourself coming and going -- sort of like the Dunkin Donut man commercials years ago.

Last night the neighbor down the road stopped at 11 PM in our barnyard.....flat tire on his pickup, towing a small trailer. Celll phone reception was iffy. We had them came inside in the sun room and they used the land line to call AAA. At 2:00. A.M. The tire was changed and we crawled off to bed. I woke up at 5:33 A.M. unable to sleep.

We had two vehicles to drop off for oil change today, Wayne's doctor follow up, etc. We took a break in between stops to have breakfast at Hardee's and his buddy called. Our Deputy Chief's son, age 39, died of a massive heart attack. So we came home and stopped in at the Chief's house. The son left a wife and two kids. So sad!

it is late and I am too tired to do anything! Bed is calling. Have a nice day everyone! See you later.
