It's -4 today with the wind chill. I miss summer! I hate the cold!
Doing some stuff around the house. I don't have a WW meeting till four. Going to make cupcakes http://www.emilybites.com/2011/03/lemon-lime-cupcakes.html?m=1 today
Try the turnip recipe and make up some meatballs and sauce for dinner.
Here is a picture of my baby joyjoy

Ooooo....those Lemon-lime cupcakes looked super yummy Laurie. I copied and pasted the recipe. Joy looks adorable but I can indeed see she's put on a bit of weight from previous pictures you've posted of her. :) I saw on your FB picture of her that one of your friend's said that Joy should join Weight Watchers. :) I thought that was pretty cute! :) Your dinner sounds good. I was glad to hear you gave Petco a bad review on Yelp and e-mailed the Store manager. It's important to bring these things to people's attention.
Sorry to hear you too had a bad experience with a groomer Kimmer. Your Chicken Caesar salad sounded yummy last night.
Jim home sick for the third day in a row and he's grumpy from sitting on the couch for all that time. I had some leftover Turkey and Gravy down in the freezer that I'll turn into Hot Turkey sandwiches I think for our dinner this evening.
    Have a good day everyone!
-20F here in Canada's Wintry Capital. BBrrrrrrrrr........

Love the picture of Joy!! So cute. Sorry to hear that she got snipped at Petco. I took Princess Misty Morning to a local groomer and she came home infested with fleas which quickly infested all dogs and carpet. So, I bought a clipper kit and first time I used it I nicked Skippy badly. I felt so bad that I gave the clipper away. I'd rather pay for a groomer than hurt her again, I've found a good groomer in Gulfport that is very kind and good with her. She doesn't have to be dragged in the door. She prances when she gets home in her jaunty kerchief.

My turnip attempts have been kind of watery. I would like to think I could try again.

Enjoy a quiet day, Laurie. YOU have energized your WW meetings. They should be beyond thrilled with what you bring to the table.

Janet, Jim sounds like he has the flu. Hot turkey sandwiches sound very yummy.
    Baby, it is cold outside.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTNheCEUP_A
    I love Yelp, as well.

Okay, Fred's heart doctor gave his okay for Fred's the most invasive part of his jaw surgery, but the Neurologist said "no". So we are in a quandary. He has to have the next part under general anesthesia and Dr. Didio is worried about his seizure status.
So, today is manage Fred's care.

We had a yummy deep dish pizza from Cappy's and a Greek salad. Picked it up on the way home from my shift. Been craving it for a ever. I was good, I ate two times the amount of salad and one piece of pizza. Fred scraped the filling out of the crust and tried to eat. His mouth still hurts so much, he is losing more weight. He can't eat, can't talk and is in pain.

New Drink for the upcoming Gasparilla!!!
    1 part Grey Goose® L'Orange
    ½ part Cointreau®
    1 part fresh lemon juice
    1 part simple syrup
    1 part muddled clementine
    1 ½ parts sparkling wine
    1 mint sprig

Muddle clementine sections with lemon juice, add remaining ingredients, shake with ice until chilled, strain into collins glass and garnish with a mint sprig and clementine rind peels.

    Simple syrup:
    1 cup water
    1 cup sugar

Combine ingredients in a saucepan over low heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Set aside to cool.

    Please drink responsibly.

I'm going to defrost the leftover pot roast and make a hash and poached egg supper. Cheesy Grits as a side for Fred.

Making a crock pot full of yellow onions. America's Test Kitchen has a wonderful recipe for onion jam. If it works....I'll post it.

Poor Fred.. he must be so miserable. I know you have tried everything you can dream up to make him more comfortable. How about those protein shakes? I always like the Atkins ones -- tastes like cheating but has so much nutrition in it at least that would be something he may be able to enjoy.

Off to meet a friend for lunch. Going somewhere new The Elephant Bar. Well new to me anyway.
    http://www.elephantbar.com/Menu/Menu.aspx

As cold as it is here today I'll be heading right for the soup menu.
Macau Shrimp & Noodle Soup with Tempura Salmon Rolls for me.

That's a lovely Youtube video Tina. Thanks! I'm going to put it on my FB page! :) Poor, poor Fred. He has so much going on. Sending prayers for a safe procedure that goes totally well. By the sounds of all your cooking today I'm guessing you don't have to go to work and I imagine you are off tomorrow as well for Fred's surgery. Yum on your pizza. I've had a craving for some lately too. Maybe I'll get a small one when Jim's away next week. He's not a big pizza guy. The Gasparilla drink looks lovely. Very citrusy!
Morning Laura! The Elephant Bar sounds very fun! Have a nice lunch with your friend. Because I'm trying to behave myself lately I have chosen the Tomato Basil Bisque with the Caesar salad. It's a nice menu. Lots of choices! And interesting stuff! Your choice sounds yummy too. Especially the Tempura Salmon Roll. I'm not familiar with a Shrimp and Noodle soup. Perhaps it's like a Pho?
Made Jim and I a scrambled egg sandwich for breakfast and I think I'll make Wonton Soup for our lunch. Need to run over to the local 'corner' store and buy some more Kleenex. We're wiped out. Ar-ar-ar.

It was -27F last night here with a windchill of -40F! It is nice and sunny now and going up to something like -8F today and back down to -18F again tonight and they say it is going to be bitterly cold with the winds again!

Joy is getting a bit chubby in that pic compared to others I have seen of her! LOL Send us some of your warm balmy weather!

Janet, I hope Jim starts feeling better today! I would love a hot turkey sandwich it would be a perfect comforting warm meal for such a cold day. LOL on being wiped out:)

Tina, Poor Fred I agree with what Laura said about those protein shakes or other full nutritious drinks to help keep his immune system and his strength up. Perhaps just pureed soups and things would be best for him. I have had several oral surgery’s done and even a small little soft crumb can irritate and inflame the gums raw enough to send anyone through the roof. NOT FUN AT ALL! I hope between the two doctors they can quickly sort his problems out like. YESTERDAY!!!
I love the new drink for Gasparilla it would be right up my alley! Now the leftover pot roast made into a hash with poached eggs and cheesy grits has me drooling! Oh how I miss real grits!!!

Laura, What a lovely menu! The first thing that caught my eye was the Sauteed Chicken Marsala and I think I would order the Fresh Pear, Glazed Walnuts and Gorgonzola Side Salad to start with. I hope you enjoy your meal there and have fun with your friend.

I want to make something different for dinner tonight but I am not quite sure what yet! Something maybe in the comfort food area but sigh nothing has come to me at all! I will dwell on it for a bit and see what I can come up with.

Hi Joce! I just got back from the store and it is cold and crisp. Thank heavens there's virtually no wind! I have never had Gorgonzola cheese. For fun I typed "Comfort Food" into the search menu for GR. It's pretty impressive. Check it out.

So my event was very impressive apparently. I got a text from my boss that I am being discussed on the conference call that goes throughout the country. A text from her boss in Connecticut telling me I did an awesome job. And I am getting a raise!
Not sure how I felt about the turnip not my favorite

LOL Janet, GMTA I had did the same thing this morning! I am now thinking about making a Shepherd's Pie with ground chicken instead of beef or something along those lines?

Laurie, Wow! That is great news! Way to go girl!!! Try the turnip mashed with a little butter and milk and when boiling the turnip add about a teaspoon of sugar to the water and serve it with roast chicken and mashed tators then you might like it. Myself I don't think I would fancy it with cheese but that is just me.

I just finished dry mopping the floors and egad they were dusty!!! I wonder what other dusty trouble I can get into now?

How awesome Laurie! You did a phenomenal job and what is most impressive is that you went 'above and beyond'. You're not just punching a clock. Well done. Take a bow. You totally deserve a raise. (I hate turnips) :)
Mmmmm....Chicken Shepherd's Pie sounds very yummy Joce. With that sun streaming in I attacked some floor dust myself! :)

Yeah for Laurie with the marketing magical touch!! Congrats!
Hi Joce, Don't look at my dust bunnies!!
I think there are jack rabbits under the beds. Sheperd's pie with ground turkey or chicken would be wonderful.
Gorgonzola is an Italian softer version of roquefort cheese. I love it.

Good grief it's cold up North! BBBRRRRRR!!!!

Congrats on the raise, Laurie! That's awesome.

Poor Jim! I hope he doesn't have the flu! Men do not make good patients. lol Hot Turkey Sandwiches sound yummy, Janet. Gorgonzola is a kind of blue cheese. I'm a blue cheese fanatic! LOVE me some homemade blue cheese dressing. Glad you didn't freeze when you went to the store!

OH NO, Tina! Poor Fred. I hope they figure something out for him quickly. Poor guy needs some relief, this has been going on for a while. That drink sounds like something I'd love! (Minus the mint...I'm too chicken to try mint with citrus...HEY...I've come a long way for a girl that used to not let any of her food touch. lol) I'm still completely and totally jealous of the pirate festival. I haven't had a deep dish pizza in years. Bryan prefers thin and crispy...why do we always succumb to their preferences? Well...maybe because he's always buying...lol

Very interesting menu at The Elephant Bar, Laura! I'm craving a cheeseburger so I'd go with that...and some baked french onion soup! Hope you had a good time.

Joce, when you are finished with the dusting, will you please come do mine? I never got to it during my mostly relaxed long weekend. It's cold here, too...but not THAT cold! lol We have highs in the 30s, but the wind chill is lower. Supposed to get a "wintry mix" on Friday. I'm still hoping for one good snow this year.

Bryan works tonight and tomorrow night, so, I don't know what I will do for supper. Just depends on whatever mood hits me, I guess. I might make some macaroni and tomatoes...and I might just eat a bowl of rice krispies with banana and forget it. :)

I FOUND IT! I FOUND BENJAMIN'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE! Wasn't at all where I thought it was. It was in his closet on the bottom shelf in a brown envelope full of papers from the last time he went in to get his Passport. OMG! This makes me very happy!
You know how we always talk about if one of us wins a million dollars or whatever we should do a ODD get-together? Well....if that ever happens, we should hold it in St. Pete's when the Gasparilla Festival is going on? What do you say?
    OMG I FOUND IT! :)

:) I am smiling from ear to ear Joce, I'll tell ya! :) It is almost 6 a.m. Taipei time. Yesterday Benjamin went to a Photographer's and got his two passport pictures taken and he might have even gone to have them notarized? I know he had to pay someone something to verify them. Today (which will be tonight for us) he was going to go back to the Embassy with the ID he does have and see how far he got. But now we have the Birth Certificate, even if they don't like what he has on him, the only true thing missing was this....sooooooo....we just have to figure out how to get it to him safely and FAST! Whew. I am so relieved.

Probably the best thing to do now is to contact your MP and they can steer you in the right direction and no doubt they can do it faster at the Canadian Embassy they might have the authority to send a photocopy to the Embassy in Taiwan or where ever? If they have a verified signature from the Embassy here. Either way they can interoffice it between Embassy' safely, faster and easier. Does he have an old passport kicking around that speeds up the process even more.

It seems they have cancelled surgery. Fred is in so much pain. He is down to 165 lbs. from 186 on December 19th with his work boots and heavy jeans on!!! He is sleeping. I've fixed him my hot broth mixer sans chili and that helped a bit. He has had chocolate ensure as well. I have some WW chocolate frozen bars that he has been eating as well.

    Yeah Janet!! Hooray for you.

Olivia's steroid shot had another strain of antibiotic (not penicillin) mixed in it, hence her delayed reaction....so there is one more antibiotic she is allergic too. I have yet to determine the name of it, but we are getting me added to her medical record so in case she can not speak, I can be her medical advocate.

The onions on the slow cooker have been making me crazy hungry from the aroma. WIsh I had the makings for onion soup, a splash of brandy, fresh thyme, and gruyere. Yum!

Thanks for all your suggestions Joce! You've been great! I mentioned to Benjamin about the old passport. He's going to go there today/tonight and see what transpires. He says the woman at the Embassy does not speak English very well at all so it's tricky to discuss things. :)
Oh no on the cancelled surgery Tina. What are their plans? They can't just leave him like that. It's ridiculous! The broth, the Ensure and the Chocolate frozen treat are great. But obviously Fred needs this solved and ASAP. OMG! Good that you are finding out about Liv's allergies. Such crazy things that can happen. You have had so much going on this last while. I think you need more than a splash of brandy in some soup! :) Hugs.
Decided at the last minute to make Pat's
    Crispy Oven Fries
to go with our Hot Turkey. A treat!

    Congratulations Laurie really wonderful.
Funny about the birth certificate at the bottom of a forgotten box. Coincidentally this week I rounded up ours along with car titles and other important papers. These were randomly dropped into a file drawer. For some reason this week I finally found them, scanned them, sent them to my cloud storage. On Saturday we are going together to the bank to get me access to the safe deposit box and dropping those in. One less thing. Having an easily accessible scanned copy will satisfy many instances much as a fax would until the original can be provided.
