Ratings Scam?

  • noir 17 years ago
There seems to be someone(s) who maybe *new* to this site or not, that are going around and rating dishes *1*, *2* or *3* for no apparent reason. Not even trying them or possibly looking at the method or ingredients that make the dish work. No sooner are they posted and they are getting a negative rating! That way they aren't detected as the name doesn't show up but only on *4* & *5* ratings will you know who they are that liked a dish. I feel this is an important issue to bring forward.

NP...It happened to me with My Lemon Rings and to JoJo...here's her link on one of recipes that was posted...http://www.grouprecipes.com/26163/bistro-lasagne.html . I also spoke with Kukla who alerted me to it, and she has also experienced this as well....and there are others. I realize we cannot control everyone and what they think, but, I think that all names should be posted when a rating is given no matter what the number, that is only fair. I hope Kris sees this.

If it is a new recipe... you might be able to CATCH them or narrow it down... they will show up in the gawkers... some are not smart enough, while playing their games to know this.. Idiots... Going to check your recipes and will "bump" them back up! God I hate the fact that people have nothing better to do than low ball.

I have been looking around various recipes and I am amazed there are many that have experienced the *low ball*. Hmmmm...but, since I posted no *new* ones have surfaced!

Hi, I am curious to find out if this is why some of my recipes have gone from a "?" to a "0". Does that mean someone looked at it and gave it a low rating? Kilby

OK, there were some "0's" on there yesturday, now they are "?" again. Is it just a glitch?

Good question... not sure. If there are *0* usually means nobody has rated it and they are just gawkers. If however, Kris has looked into the matter maybe that might be what the *?* is about.

Tsk, Tsk! That somebody would be rude to low ball recipes without trying them or understanding the process of the dish (like you said Lael and Linda) I caught that yesterday on the Lemon Rings (great recipe btw) it really didn't make any sense at all a *3*? I think, that some people are trying to knock down the higher ranked contributers by low balling (just a thought) so that they can move up??? Is that possible??? Also, by low balling (again, a thought, I have many) they do not have to show their name and possibly be that *mystery person* and feel they can get away with it? I agree that all names should be posted if they are Rating a recipe, it is only right and would keep things open and honest. Geesh, I am full of thoughts today! *wink* just throwing my 2 cents in, hope it helps!

Totally cant believe I haven't found this group yet haha. Thanks for all the support on that one recipe of mine, too! I did notice a few other clearly great recipes had been sidelined as well, what's the word on the issue?

I got lowballed a while back... I think, in a way, it is funny.. If I bother them that much they have to take the time to low ball me! Funny! But I figure they have little lives.. with not much to keep them busy. At first I thought it was kids, home on summer break, but it still goes on.. so I guess some adults are as childish.. HUMMMMMMM

One day Kris will change the way it shows up, and they will low ball someone and get caught with thier pants down... Now that will be funny!

Well, we can hope that Kris will see this posting! All names need to be posted when ratings are done (as they are with Gawkers), but I do notice people aren't Rating as much within the last week. Interesting huh? :)

    Hello all :0

Let's consider the glass half full, as we've no choice until Kris & team get a chance to "make it all better".....

If we get low-balled on a recipe, then it really WAS a good one....

Jo_jo_ba, it was our pleasure...WE know you, and your recipes; and, both do not deserve a 3 or lower -- EVER! Same with you, Noir......and Linebb, Berry....Kilby....and everyone else.

It is a shame that there is always hackers or people who try to ruin websites for everyone. There will always be these people with no life and have nothing better to do with their time, but I must say that I am inpressed with the way Foodies stand up for each other and truely show kindness to each other. The reason I joined this website is because I seen a group of people who are warm and friendly. Who love to cook and share their favorite recipes with strangers who share their passion for cooking. I thank each one of you for your kindness and good thoughts you have sent my way. The people on this website are the best I have ever seen.
