Gaylord is Chicago's best kept lunch buffet secret -- and Gaylord's secret is steam tables with very small pans that are always being refilled with fresh food from the kitchen. Gaylord set the standard for butter chicken -- so far, none of the Indian restaurants (some of them excellent) have served butter chicken quite as memorably delicious as Gaylord. It was a mandatory lunch stop on every trip to Chicago. I've seen mixed reviews about service, but we were in Chicago with a friend who had never been there. We praised the butter chicken and lamented that there was none that day on the buffet, and the waiter told us to come back at six. Go back we did, and our butter chicken was ready for us. I call that good service. Great food, and relatively inexpensive.

Totally agree with the Bondc's review ... but it's also great food for dinner, too (just not a buffet and not as cheap). I've been there almost a dozen times and never have had a significant problem with the service: it's generally very friendly and responsive.
