Ingredients

How to make it

  • Chop onions (halve then slice thinly)
  • add onions to warm BBQ griddle plate (you can use a skillet or frying pan, just add a little oil)
  • Keep stirring the onions every now and again while chatting to friends.
  • As the onions caramelise with the heat, you'll need to keep adding just a splash of beer, then stir again.
  • Keep repeating the addition of beer and the stirring. It evaporates and needs refreshing.
  • You'll need around 1 bottle to get the onions done, the other one helps the conversation with friends.
  • If you are a bit funny and don't drink beer, use a mix of apple juice and veggie stock instead, but the results aren't the same, I'm sorry to say.

Older than both of us put together but no denying the outcome is absolutely great. Another generation learns an old and valuable trick. RJ
