I used to date the son of the owners of the Trailside Cafe in Rochport Missouri. This is the second most sold item they have. Stephen King and his film crew in 1990 for "Sometimes They Come Back" ate these almost everyday. If not these then they ate ... More

Ingredients
  • 6 pork tenderloins, or maybe they are pork loin steaks, you want them roundish not long and thin, thick ones, the thicker they are the more they spread out
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups crackers, smashed fine
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • Big Buns!
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato Slices
  • Thin slices of red onion
  • Pickle spears
  • Chips
  • Condiments of your choice!

Directions
  1. Mix the flour, the abused crackers and your seasoning into a bowl large enough to put a tenderloin into.
  2. Mix the milk and eggs in a bowl large enough to put a tenderloin into.
  3. Set aside
  4. Okay now! You take one of the tenderloins and put it on a nice wooden table.
  5. You take your meat tenderizer mallet and beat the crap out of it until it is thin, flat and big!!
  6. You then put it into the egg milk mixture, coating both side well.
  7. Then over to the flour cracker mixture, coating it well there also.
  8. ~Now this family would drop this into a deep fryer and fry it until done.
  9. I put it into a frying pan and fry it there.
  10. I did not own a deep fryer until last week!!!
  11. ~You then put it on the bottom side of the bun.
  12. On the top side of the bun should be the onion, lettuce and tomato slice.
  13. Pickle and chips on the side.
  14. This is sooooo good!
  15. When this was ready to serve you could not see the pickle or the paper plate it was served on.
  16. The tenderloin was flatted out that big.
  17. These people special ordered these cuts from a butcher in Columbia, MO.
  18. These were great.
  19. Mine never come out as good!

You write a funny story!! I love it! The recipe sounds scrumptious!! (maybe cranberry sauce, or Ortegas green chiles or avocado)Maybe just do it the original way!!

My husband will love it, I am sure. thank you very much.

Great recipe and loved the the personal history...so interesting!

Seen that movie and did not know they filmed it in Missouri? that neat! neat story behind the history here, and good sandwich too! high 5

Not saying I want to eat like Stephen King. If you "are what you eat" that could lead to some serious night traumas...but then maybe I'd be screaming all the way to the bank. Anyway...this looks great, and is so (wow) VERY authentic. I love having real restaurant recipes!! I may make a file just for these kinds. Great story...kudos.

Wow what a great story how cool is that!!!!
hooray for you!!
