This is a great holiday 3 layer cake. The cakes can be kept frozen, tightly wrapped in plastic wrap, for up to 3 weeks.

For 1 cup of molases you can substitute 1 cup of Dark Corn Syrup or 1 Cup of Honey, Or 1 cup of Maple Syrup or 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar.
Obviously the Maple syrup will have the most profound impact on the final flavor. Any will work well though and you may end up with better than what you expected! Many of the worlds great recipes were made by mistake.
