PEAR PECAN COBBLER This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Irvine Estate in Allen, Texas in 1994.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 4 cups thinly sliced pears
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 well beaten egg
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/3 cup butter melted

Directions
  1. Mix 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and 1/2 cup pecans.
  2. Place pears in bottom of greased round ovenware cake dish.
  3. Sprinkle with cinnamon mixture then sift together dry ingredients.
  4. Combine egg, milk and butter then add dry ingredients all at once and mix until smooth.
  5. Pour over pears then sprinkle with remaining pecans.
  6. Bake at 325 for 50 minutes then cut into wedges and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
