How to make it

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat; add brats, quickly searing on all sides, but not cooking through.
  • Brown the onion and garlic in the pan drippings until soft and golden brown.
  • Scatter apple rings on bottom of crock pot. Poke each sausage with a couple of holes and place brats on top of apples and onions/garlic on top of brats. Pour apple juice concentrate and beer over all.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
  • Remove cooking liquid from crock to 2 qt saucepan.
  • Add gravy mix and bring to boil (or until gravy is thickened) over medium heat, stirring constantly with whisk.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies.
