Hamburg Style Oxtail Stew

- 1 oxtail weighing about 3 lbs shopping list
- 1 lb of potatoes shopping list
- 1 onion shopping list
- 2 oz of butter shopping list
- 1 tbsp of flour shopping list
- 4 cups of beef broth shopping list
- 1 bay leaf shopping list
- 1 cup of pickled vegetables shopping list
- salt, pepper, paprika shopping list
How to make it
- Peel potatoes, boil, and steam dry.
- Cut oxtail into 2-inch-long strips and add to diced onion which has been sauteed in hot butter. Sear briefly and add salt.
- Sift flour over the meat and add hot beef broth. Add bay leaf and boil for 2 hours.
- Remove bay leaf.
- Dice potatoes, chop pickled vegetables, and add to soup.
- Heat and add salt, pepper, and paprika to taste.

been looking to duplicate the taste of the ox tail soup or stew my boyfriend had in germany when he was stationed there or 40 years ago. hope this is close ...thanks
