This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Margolis Estate in Austin Texas in 1991.

Ingredients
  • 1 box cherry chip cake mix
  • 1 can red cream soda
  • Frosting:
  • 1 small container frozen whipped topping thawed
  • 1 small box cherry gelatin

Directions
  1. Combine cake mix according to package directions substituting soda for water.
  2. Bake in a rectangular baking pan according to package directions.
  3. Combine whipped topping and gelatin and mix well.
  4. Cool cake completely then spread topping over cake and serve.
