Creamy Crescent Cheese Braids
From mrsc543 14 years agoIngredients
- 4 oz cream cheese shopping list
- 1 Tbsp sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp lemon zest shopping list
- 1/4 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1 egg yolk shopping list
- 8 oz can of Pillsbury Crescent dinner rolls shopping list
- 1 egg white, beaten shopping list
- powdered sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease cookie sheet.
- In small bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, lemon zest vanilla and egg yolk.
- Separate dough into 4 rectangles; firmly press perforations to seal.
- Spoon about 2 Tbsp of cream cheese mixture lengthwise down center third of each rectangle.
- Make cuts 1/2-inch apart on each side of rectangles, just to the edge of filling.
- Fold strips of dough at an angle across filling, alternating from side to side to give a braided appearance.
- Place on prepared cookie sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg white.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 16 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool; sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar.
- **Note: Although the recipe did not call for it, I think adding a Tbsp of cherry or blueberry pie filling over the cheese mixture before baking would make this more like a danish. I haven't tried adding the pie filling yet so I hope that it will work out as I imagined it to!
