How to make it

  • Cream sugar, margarine and shortening.
  • Add egg yokes one at a time beating well
  • Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beating well, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  • Add vanilla, nuts and coconut.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry
  • Fold into shortening mixture.
  • pour batter into three greased and floured cake pans
  • Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes
  • Frosting
  • 1 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1 box powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Cream together and spread onto cool cake.
