How to make it

  • In a mixing bowl, beat milk and pudding mix (just until blended). Gradually add eggnog. Add almond extract and 1 cup whipped cream; set aside.
  • Slice cake, cut into 1/2 inch pieces. Place 1/4 cake pieces into into a 2 qt serving bowl, top with 1/2 cup jam. Spoon 1 cup of eggnog mixture over. Repeat layer.
  • Chill at least 3 hours. Fold powdered sugar and vanilla into remaining whipping cream. Spoon over top of trifle. Decorate with cherries.
