New Mexico Style Pizza

- Sauce Ingredients: shopping list
- 3 tsp ground red chile shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 large onion, chopped shopping list
- 2 tbs oil shopping list
- 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce shopping list
- 1 tbs dried oregano shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- salt and pepper (to taste) shopping list
- Crust Ingredients: shopping list
- 3 cups flour (bread flour preferred) shopping list
- 1 pkg yeast dissolved in 1 cup hot water shopping list
- 2 tbs oil shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- Freshly ground black pepper shopping list
- Pizza Toppings: shopping list
- 1/2 cup green chile strips shopping list
- 1 cup chopped onion shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms shopping list
- 1/2 cup black olives, sliced shopping list
- 1 cup cooked chorizo, crumbled shopping list
- 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese shopping list
- 1/2 cup grated provolone cheese shopping list
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese shopping list
- olive oil shopping list
How to make it
- Sauce Directions:
- Saute the onion and garlic in the oil until soft. Add the remaining ingredients, bring to a boil and then reduce the heat and simmer until thick, about 2 hours. Remove and puree in a blender until smooth.
- Crust Directions:
- Combine all ingredients and knead the dough for 5 to 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down and stretch the dough until it fits a pizza pan. Let set for 20 minutes.
- To Assemble:
- Spread the sauce over the dough. Arrange the chile, onion, mushrooms, olives, and chorizo on top of the sauce. Top with grated cheeses. Sprinkle olive oil on top.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until crust is browned.
