I happened to look at the video again and she mentions its a "chocolate mousse cake "in a crust . The photo on the today show page shows the crust, mousse filling and a chocolate gancahe topping. She also mentions orange liquer, ( ? butter )etc that's melted with the chocolate but the recipe does not mention that.
Making enough mousse, I would gather that the melted chocolate could be whipped into the cream along with the lquer for a mousse filling. I think experienced bakers can fuqure out the recipe and I am happy Coliptt's company enjoyed it although it didn't come out as expected!

midgelet, don't fret over what you posted, it is surely not your fault. You did post what was on their website. I think the person giving out the recipe just didn't WANT to give the correct recipe, but had to give something. I haven't heard (and unfortunately don't expect to hear) from the Today Show. As expected my dessert was a hit. . .because it had 3 POUNDS of chocolate and it definitely was a "Ganache." Very dense chocolate. Served it with a dollop of homemade whipped cream to add interest to so much chocolate. A very thin slice was all that was needed. I sent large chunks of it home with all the guests. I wouldn't make it again.

Gee, folks, I posted what was on the today show web site and I guess they must have left things out too.
I am also assuming the egg goes into the crust part
As for the orange balls, I think it could be safe to add just a bit of orange liquer. I will wait to see what colpitt finds out.
Thanks so much for your patience and your posts!!

I just made this recipe, it looks great . . .but I just rewatched the segment (I want to make the Orange Juice Balls) and she mentions that there is orange liqueur in it, but it is not in the ingredients. She also says "whipped" like chocolate mousse. Also NOT in the instructions. Mine tastes good (3 pounds of chocolate!) but is more like a ganache than a mousse. I e-mailed the Today Show to see if they can get the correct ingredients/instructions, we'll see how that works out!

LOL, I just signed up to ask the same question as bhiggason. Where does the egg go? In the video at the Today Show website, she mentions it does go in the crust. But at what point and do you mix the egg first? I would assume so.
