How to make it

  • Scald milk and cool.
  • Cream butter, sugar, salt, egg yolk, lemon rind and juice.
  • Then add yeast milk mixture and flour and form into soft ball.
  • Place dough ball into a greased bowl and turn once so that greased side is up.
  • Cover and let rise for 2 hours till it doubles in size.
  • Roll dough into 10 x 10 squares.
  • Sprinkle raisins over the dough, and then press into it. (This helps keep the dough moist.)
  • Spread with nut filling and roll into loaf.
  • Gently brush the loaves with egg wash.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 25-35 mins.
