How to make it

  • Cream butter and sugar together until soft (preheat oven to 180oc)
  • add vanilla essence and fold on flour
  • roll mix by hand until smooth do not overwork
  • slice into pieces cookie size/thumb thick
  • place on non stick tray bake for 20 minutes until golden brown

    Custard powder is just food colouring cornlour and vanilla essence you add water to the mix ,make into a smooth paste add the paste to hot milk and you get a traditional english custard its quicker version of fresh custard made with milk eggs vanilla and sugar.....just use cornflour instead if you cant get custard powder

    Butter can work against you
    roll the mix into a cylinder and chill for an hour then slice it off bake it if youre ovens good 180oc is great but sometimes ive had to cook at 200oc but watch they dont burn
