How to make it

  • Cook the bacon in a large sauce pan until transparent but not brown.
  • Add the cabbage, green onions, and ginger root; saute 5 minutes until crisp-tender.
  • Stir in the chicken broth.
  • Simmer for 40 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
  • Add salt and pepper.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning, if desired.
  • Ladle soup in to bowls and garnish each serving with the chives.
