Stumps Monkey Bread

- 1 1/2 yeast cakes(1 1/2 packets dry yeast will substitute) shopping list
- 1/4c warm water shopping list
- 1T sugar shopping list
- 1c milk shopping list
- 1c butter shopping list
- 1tsp salt shopping list
- 3 eggs beaten shopping list
- 3 to 4c flour shopping list
How to make it
- Mix yeast in warm water and stir in sugar.
- Scald milk and add 1/2c butter and salt.
- Cool to lukewarm.
- Stir beaten eggs and yeast mixture into lukewarm milk mixture.
- Gradually mix in flour with a wooden spoon to make soft dough.
- Transfer dough to a greased bowl, turning to grease top.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk.
- Divide dough into 2 halves and roll each portion out on a floured surface to a sheet 1/3 inch thick.
- Melt remaining butter.
- Cut dough with floured 3 inch diamond shaped cookie cutter.
- Dip each piece of dough into melted butter and later into 10 inch ring mold overlapping points of dough pieces.
- There should be about 3 layers but pan should be no more than 3/4 full or pieces of dough will pop off while baking.
- Let rise until light(about 1 hour).
- Bake at 400 degrees for 35 minutes or until lightly brown.
- For Cheese Monkey Bread: 3/4c shredded cheddar cheese along with flour.
