How to make it

  • Brown ground beef with onion and garlic, drain.
  • Add 1 cup beef stock and sage.
  • Wisk flour into the other cup of beef stock until dissolved and add to beef mixture.
  • Cook about 5 minutes until stock begins to thicken.
  • Add frozen mixed vegetables and cook until warmed through.
  • Peel, dice, and boil carrots and potatoes until tender.
  • Add milk, butter, cheese, salt and pepper, then mash (if you can do this in a stand mixer, it comes out very creamy).
  • Put meat mixture in an 8 x 8 casserole dish and top with mashed potatoes and carrots.
  • Bake in 400 degree oven for 20 minutes, or until top is nicely browned.
