How to make it

  • In large dutch oven, heat butter & olive oil.
  • Add flour and whisk till smooth
  • Add onion, pepper, celery, garlic and cook about 5 minutes or veggies are tender
  • Stir in tomatoe products, bay leaves & Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, chili powder, creole seasoning, (salt & pepper to taste)
  • Bring to boil and then lower to simmer, add okra.
  • Cover and cook about 60 minutes.
  • Add shrimp and cook about 10-15 minutes longer.
  • Serve over rice
  • (Optional: Add more hot sauce or chili powder for heat)
