How to make it

  • Freeze cabbage overnight
  • Next day thaw and drain any excess liquid.
  • Discard first few outer large tough leaves.
  • Peel away remainder of leaves from cabbage.
  • You wont use all the leaves for recipe unless you double recipe.
  • Leaves will be soft and pliable.
  • Cut off tough ribs.
  • Set leaves aside.
  • Make meat mixture: combine turkey, rice, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Form meat mixture into small lemon size balls and place in center of cabbage leaves.
  • Roll leaf to enclose meat and tuck ends under .
  • Make sauce.
  • heat tomato product and stir and dissolve in the molasses and brown sugar, lemon juice to taste.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • This will make plenty of sauce for this dish plus extra.
  • Place part of sauce in bottom of oblong baking dish.
  • Place stuffed cabbage seam side down.
  • Cover with more sauce.
  • Tuck in prunes between stuffed cabbage.
  • Cover with foil.
  • Bake in a 350F oven about and hour .
  • The flavor of this dish improves when allowed to cool, chill and reheat.
  • Recipe will make from 9 to 12 pieces depending how much meat you really decide to place in cabbage leaves.
  • Sauce as well as stuffed cabbage freezes well.
