From karlyn255 14 years agoIngredients
- 1 cup olive or almond oil shopping list
- 1 oz balm of Gilead buds shopping list
- 1 oz lavender flowers or 1 oz bittersweet nightshade herb shopping list
- 10-20 drops juniper essential oil shopping list
- 10-20 drops lavender essential oil shopping list
- 1 oz shaved beeswax shopping list
How to make it
- It can be made as an oil as well to just rub on, to do this just omit the beeswax and strain well - add the essential oils last. Follow the simple salve recipe instructions below and you should have yourself a small jar or two of the salve.

- Here is a simple salve recipe - it's all about proper proportions, you will need a sensitive scale:
- ***************************
- 1 cup fixed oil (olive, almond, sesame, apricot kernel, sesame, or jojoba)
- 1-2oz of dry herb(s)
- 1 oz shaved beeswax (per 1 cup oil)
- ************************************
- Place the oil and herbs in a glass jar, place the jar on a baking pan and place in the oven set at 100-160 F for 3-5 hours.
- Stir once and hour. Strain the herbs from the oil.
- Measure the oil again, it will always be less than one cup after the herbs soak up some of the oil, add more oil, or add a mixture of desired essential oils to bring it back to on 1 cup.
- Pour the oil into a clean jar and add the beeswax, microwave the jar till the beeswax melts, then test a dab on a jar lid to see if the salve has the right consistency. If it does, pour it into jars.
- Sore in a cool, dry place and it should last for up to 2 years if you add a preservative like vitamin E oil or lavender or tea tree oil, or a benzoin tincture.
- I prefer to use essential oils or vitamin E oil as many people are sensitive to the benzoin.
