- 1 4oz can tomato paste shopping list
- 1 cup fresh basil, chopped shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar shopping list
- 3 teaspoons sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano shopping list
- 1 teaspoon dried marjoram shopping list
- 1 teaspoon dried basil shopping list
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning shopping list
- salt and fresh ground pepper. shopping list

- 2 tablespoons olive oil shopping list
- 2.5 lbs ground beef shopping list
- 1 garlic clove, minced shopping list
- 1 red pepper diced shopping list
- 1 green pepper diced shopping list
- 1 onion diced shopping list
- 1 cup red wine shopping list
- 1/4 cup sundried tomatoes diced shopping list
- 1 box "no boil" lasagna noodles shopping list
- 1 pound mozarella cheese shredded shopping list
- 1 pound cheddar cheese shredded shopping list
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese shopping list
- 1/4 cup heavy cream shopping list
- salt and pepper shopping list
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano shopping list
- 1 tablespoon dried basil shopping list
- 1 14oz can petite diced tomatoes shopping list
- 1 8oz can tomato sauce shopping list
- 1 4oz can sliced black olives shopping list
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil chiffonaded shopping list
How to make it
- For the sauce
- Over medium heat, heat oil in a saucepan until hot.
- Add all ingredients except basil.
- cover and bring to a boil.
- Lower heat and allow to simmer for 30 minutes.
- Stir the basil into the sauce; season with salt and pepper.
- For a smoother sauce, blend with an immersion blender.
- For the filling
- Season ground beef with salt and pepper, brown and drain.
- In a large pot add olive oil, onions and sautee until translucent.
- Then add garlic, red and green peppers, and cook until soft.
- Add pasta sauce, red wine, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, sundried tomatoes, ground beef, salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Allow to cool.
- Mix ricotta with heavy cream. (this will make it easier to pipe in, or to spread)
- To build lasagna start with sauce, then add a layer of noodles, sauce, black olives, cheeses,
- (I used a pastry bag to pipe in the ricotta, much easier)
- Repeat layering until complete.
- Top with cheddar and mozarella cheese and fresh basil.
- Bake on 350 for 30 to 40 minutes. Cheese will be brown on top.
