The No Recipe Beef Stew Recipe

- 1 small (1 - 1 1/2 lb.) sirloin tip roast shopping list
- 1 (24 oz) pkg. frozen veggies for soups and stews (potatoes, celery, pearl onions and carrots) shopping list
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped shopping list
- 1/2 cup ketchup shopping list
- Texas Pete (or Frank's) hot sauce, to taste (optional) shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil for browning shopping list
How to make it
- Cut meat into bite size cubes
- Salt and pepper
- Heat oil in skillet and brown meat in batches to keep the skillet hot
- Place meat in a 3 quart sauce pot with enough water to cover by 2 inches
- Boil on medium high heat for 15 minutes
- Add additional water as needed
- Reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours
- Add onions and frozen veggies, ketchup, additional salt and pepper if needed, and hot sauce the last 20 minutes of cook time
- Cook until veggies are tender and potatoes are ready to fall apart
- Most water will have been boiled away and stew will be a thick, rich broth
- Serve with hot crusty French bread or hot buttermilk biscuits.
