Party Bread Pudding

- 3 eggs shopping list
- 1 cup of sugar shopping list
- 2 cups of half and half shopping list
- 10 slices of raisin bread crusts removed shopping list
- 1/2 cup of apple butter; can sub fig jam or orange marmalade shopping list
- even cream cheese !! shopping list
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract shopping list
- Hard sauce: shopping list
- 1 cup of sugar shopping list
- 4 tbsp of butter shopping list
- 1/4 cup of sweet sherry (or sweet marsala in a pinch) shopping list
How to make it
- Spread five slices of bread with a thin layer of apple butter (use cooking license here, feel free to sub with fig jam, or bitter orange marmalade....I'd even try a bit of softened cream cheese to be truly decadent.)
- Top with other five slices of bread.
- Cut little sandwiches out of stacked bread...try for nine each.
- Butter a 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
- Cream eggs and sugar well.
- Add vanilla to half and half.
- Add to creamed sugar mix and blend well.
- Put the little sandwich cubes in the prepped baking dish.
- Pour milk mixture over and allow to soak.
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Place baking dish in a pan of water halfway up the dish.
- Bake 45-50 minutes until set.
- Serve warm, topped with hard sauce.
- Make hard sauce by creaming the butter and sugar, add Sherry and cook over low heat until sugar melts.
